One of the main problems when configuring ad-hoc networks is that with these networks don't have a central server with all the information of the network. If a new user wants to form part of a network must configu...

A novel method for the approximation of the frequency response of a sampled data system is presented Usually the frequency response calculation of sampled-data systems leads to use of the infinite dimension matrices of cumbersome mathematical) treatment. The technique presented is based on the inclusion of a fictitious sampler in the continuous process output and on the signal flow analysis in the consequent Kranc Operator multirate model obtained by switch decomposition. The main goal of this sampler is to get as much information as it can about the output continuous signal, but finite. The application of this tool will be demonstrated with the calculation of the frequency response of a dual-rate sampled data system, and its validity will be verified by looking correspondence of the results obtained with its time-domain response to a single frequency sine signal input.

A methodology for the analysis of the radiation characteristics and spatial performance of loudspeaker arrays for wave field synthesis (WFS) reproduction is presented. It is based on the wavenumber domain analysis, where the source radiation is decomposed into plane waves for arbitrary angles of incidence. The method deals with the measurement and analysis of the radiation performance, evaluation of the spatial aliasing frequency, and associated sampling artifacts for linear loudspeaker arrays. A detailed description of the parameters that modify spatial aliasing artifacts, such as array directivity and truncation effects by geometry, is also given. The method is validated at the laboratory with two multiactuator panel arrangements and a dynamic loudspeaker array, all presenting the same transducer spacing. Simulations and experimental results are discussed through several case studies, comparing dynamic loudspeaker arrays and multiactuator panels in WFS operation. Moreover, a study of the consequences for the wavefield when splitting the panels to accommodate a lower number of exciters is also addressed.

It is well known that Genetic Algorithms (GA) is an optimization method which can be used in problems where the traditional optimization techniques are difficult to be applied. Sonic Crystals (SC) are periodic structures that present ranges of sound frequencies related with the periodicity of the structure, where the sound propagation is forbidden. This means that in the acoustic spectrum there are ranges of frequencies with high acoustic attenuation. This attenuation can be improved producing vacancies in the structure. In this paper we use a parallel implementation of a GA to optimize those structures, by means of the creation of vacancies in a starting SC, in order to obtain the best acoustic attenuation in a predetermined range of frequencies. The cost function used in CA is based on the Multiple Scattering Theory (MST), which is a self consistent method for calculating acoustic pressure in SCs. As a final result we achieve a quasi ordered structures that presents a high acoustic attenuation in a predetermined range of frequencies, independent of the periodicity of the SC.

The use of wave methods to simulate room impulse responses provides the most accurate solutions. Recently, a method to incorporate directive sources in discrete-time methods, such as Finite Differences and Digital Waveguide Mesh has been proposed. It is based in the proper combination of monopoles in order to achieve the desired directivity pattern in far field condition. However, this method is used without taking into account the inherent dispersion in most of these discrete-time paradigms. This paper analyzes how influent is the dispersion in order to get the proper directivity through different study cases.

Distributed Mode Loudspeakers consist of a flat panel of a light and stiff material to which a mechanical exciter is attached, creating bending waves that are then radiated as sound fields. It can be used to build arrays for Wave Field Synthesis reproduction by using multiple exciters in a single vibrating surface. The exciter interaction with the panel, the panel material and the panel contour clamp conditions are some of the critical points that need to be evaluated and improved. In this paper, we address the edge boundary conditions influence on the quality of the emitted wave field. The measures of the wave fields have been interpreted in the wavenumber domain, where the source radiation is decomposed into plane waves for arbitrary angles of incidence. Results show how the wave field is degraded when the boundary conditions are modified.
