The paper presents a piecewise geometric parameterization method and a parametric analysis of uniaxial capacitance accelerometer using a reduced model formulated on the modal superposition method. The extraction of parameters for the macromodel such as modal frequencies, modal masses, modal stiffnesses, strain energy, and capacitances are described. The reduced model consists of the two modes: torsion mode, and transversal mode, three electrodes in the electrostatic domain, and eight master nodes in the geometrical domain located at the edges of the plate. The generation of the discrete macromodels is executed using commercial software. The thickness of the plate has been selected as a design parameter. Linear piecewise interpolation is used for macromodel parameterization which have been done inside VHDL-AMS code. The accelerometer's dynamic response simulated using of parametrized macromodel considering the mechanical contact phenomena and the nonlinear electrostatic interaction are presented and discussed. The developed approach can be applied for fast system level simulations in view of the variation of the geometric parameters. © 2023 IEEE.

Electrical discharge machining (EDM) has been extensively utilized in the precision manufacturing of difficult-to-cut material. The preparation of electrodes is of great importance for structured surface generation after EDM. Electrode wear is an inevitable problem, which affects the machining accuracy and efficiency of the workpiece. Therefore, the design and optimization of the electrodes are vital for the EDM process. In this paper, a novel self-assembly ball electrode for EDM of the structured array on the binderless tungsten carbide (WC) is proposed. The shape evolution and surface roughness of the structured surface was investigated. The result indicates that self-assembly ball electrodes have a great advantage in machining the structured surface arrays. © 2023 Proceedings - ASPE 2023 Annual Meeting. All rights reserved.

This work presents a Fleet Manager for a fleet of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) that perform material handling tasks in a shared environment. The Fleet Manager assigns AMRs to newly released tasks, computes paths for them to travel to the task’s locations, and schedules their travel along the computed paths so that conflicts with other AMRs are avoided. The objective is for each AMR to complete its task as quickly as possible, to then be assigned a new *** Fleet Manager works online, assigning a released task to the AMR closest to the task’s location, and then computing the path and schedule to fit in with the already assigned and executing AMRs. Conflicts occur when, in order to reach their targets, AMRs would have to simultaneously occupy the same space. Resolving this is done by appropriate scheduling, or by moving idle AMRs out of the way. For fleet management to be practicable, the computation time for assigning an AMR to a task and computing its path and schedule must be negligible compared to other system *** were conducted to evaluate the performance of the Fleet Manager on a number of benchmark problem instances, counting up to hundreds of AMRs. The results show that the presented Fleet Manager can handle these systems quickly enough to be practically useful in real industrial scenarios.

A double-circuit automatic control system (ACS) of the electric mode (EM) of an arc furnace (AF) is developed. A model of a fuzzy phase-asymmetric rule for arc length regulation is proposed. A block diagram is developed and the design of an element for generating a mismatch signal of EM for AF is carried out according to the developed fuzzy rule. A Simulink-model of the developed double-circuit ACS of EM has been developed and comparative computer simulations of the quality indicators of controlling the EM coordinates for the proposed double-circuit structure of the ACS and the serial arc power regulator ARDM-T-12 of the DSP-200 arc furnace are carried out. The results of the comparative analysis have shown an improvement in a number of AF energy efficiency indicators and an increase in the dynamic accuracy of EM coordinate stabilization when regulating random disturbances by the double-circuit structure as compared to the arc power regulator ARDM-T-12. © 2023 IEEE.

Today on-line monitoring of the technical state and assessment of the service life of electromechanical systems at rolling mills is an urgent problem. To resolve it, it is necessary to substantiate the method for calculation of the remaining life under dynamic loads and to develop technical means for the method implementation. The authors have studied the oscillograms of speeds and torques of the motors of the top and bottom rolls main drives (TMD and BMD) for the plate mill 5000. A considerable difference between static (and consequently, dynamic) torques of these motors has been confirmed. When the loaded electrical drive reaches the limit torque values, it causes the loss of the motor control and increased amplitudes of elastic torque at the spindle when the rolls pick up metal. This confirms that it is important to study the dependence between elastic torque amplitude and thickness reduction and to develop the method to calculate mechanical equipment life at intermittent dynamic loads. An information system for on-line monitoring of elastic torques at spindles has been developed. Elastic torque recovery is conducted by the observer that additionally calculates the extent of equipment wear. The authors have substantiated the calculation of fatigue loading based on the Palmgren-Miner linear damage rule. The article also considers analytical expressions used to obtain dependences between wear and torque degree during metal pickup. The authors have calculated the spindle wear for different time periods at rolling sheets for actual plant stock. As a result, the difference in fatigue life of TMD and BMD spindles was confirmed. The authors give recommendations on the commercial adoption of the solutions and applying BigData technologies for dataset processing.

Recently, the platform economy allows enterprises to collaborate with business partners and provide additional channels for various parties. E-commerce platforms have become integral channels for connecting suppliers with consumers. In the platform economy, agency selling and reselling are two predominant sales models that often coexist for the same product types, resulting in a competitive relationship. This study analyzes transaction data for 30,000 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) provided by the Chinese e-commerce platforms over one month. We employ three models to compare the sales quantity and profits of manufacturers and online platforms and to identify the most efficient mode for stakeholders based on the model establishment and empirical evidence. Our findings suggest that apart from the existing channel to provide products to customers, manufacturers enter the platform which will increase the profit of platform operators. On the other hand, platform operators may also affect the profit of the manufacturers. © 2023 IEEE.

The control problem for the multivariable and nonlinear dynamics of unmanned aerial vehicles and micro-satellites is solved with the use of a flatness-based control approach which is implemented in successive *** state-space model of(i)unmanned aerial vehicles and(ii)micro-satellites is separated into two subsystems,which are connected between them in cascading *** one of these subsystems can be viewed independently as a differentially flat system and control about it can be performed with inversion of its dynamics as in the case of input–output linearized flat *** state variables of the second subsystem become virtual control inputs for the first *** turn,exogenous control inputs are applied to the first *** whole control method is implemented in two successive loops and its global stability properties are also proven through Lyapunov stability *** validity of the control method is confirmed in two case studies:(a)control and trajectories tracking for the autonomous octocopter,(ii)control of the attitude dynamics of micro-satellites.

A literature review showed that the causes of accidents frequently occuring at rolling mills are fatigue failures of spindle heads or necks of mill rollers. This confirms the relevance of developing the systems for monitoring the wear degree of the spindle joint components directly during the rolling process. This is relevant for thick plate rolling mills operating under shock load application. As a diagnostic feature, it is proposed to use pressure in hydraulic cylinders of spindle vertical balancing. It has been experimentally proved that the process of fatigue failure development increases such pressure;that is why it is an informative criterion in terms of defect growth. The observer structure is proposed;at the observer output the variable pressure component is restored, and an emergency signal is generated. The algorithm for virtual observer configuration is implemented in the Matlab Simulink package. The proposed algorithm has been implemented in pilot operation on a thick plate mill 5000. The authors give an example of a pre-emergency situation on-line monitoring. The timely emergency warning has been registered and confirmed which proves the technical and economic efficiency of the observer adoption. © 2023 IEEE.

In this work, we discuss the complete design procedure for a new topology of waveguide combline filters based on flat metallic strip resonators. The main advantages of the new topology that we propose are the ability to implement transmission zeros (TZ), compactness and low-cost practical realization. Furthermore, the position of the TZs can be controlled using offset resonators, thus achieving more selective filter responses. The design of several bandpass filter examples with finite-frequency TZs is also discussed. The correct operation of the filters is verified using commercial software packages, thus validating both the topology that we propose and the design procedure.
