A heuristic algorithm for multiple vehicles routing problem with stochastic demand is proposed and the goal is to minimize the total traveling cost. Two-phase method is adopted to deal with this problem. In the first phase, an algorithm is proposed to partition customers into clusters, and the main task of the second phase is to design an effective routing through each cluster of customers to minimize the total expected traveling cost. Both the a priori strategy and the reoptimization strategy are used to obtain the optimal routing. The experiment results indicate that this method can produce solutions of good quality and is an effective algorithm for the multiple vehicles routing problem with stochastic demand

This paper deals with the simultaneous estimation of the rotor flux and the rotor resistance of induction motors by a modified Luenberger observer. The proposed observer assumes that only the motor speed and the stator currents are measured. Its corrective terms are based on the derivative of stator currents. The use of the Lyapunov's theory for the flux observer stability analysis permits to give an adaptive law for the on-line rotor resistance estimation. This observer is combined with a direct field oriented control to achieve a robust speed and flux control. Simulation results are presented to evaluate the performances of this control-observer structure scheme

In this work we realized the method multistage mixing of speech signals and conducted the series of computational experiments at wav-files. As a result of experiments we received dependences time of mixing speech signals, which are contained in wav-files, from amount wav-files and their descriptions. We formed requirements to the speech signals, that mixed accordant with the method of multistage mixing, which allow decreasing time of mixing of speech signals.

This paper analyses several extended rough set models in incomplete information systems and proposes a tolerance relation based model of processing grey incomplete information systems, which is an extension to rough set models. The method of the model is: firstly partitioning the original incomplete information system by introduced threshold value, then establishing tolerance classes through grey tolerance relation and obtaining upper and lower approximations through these tolerance classes. Moreover, a method of whitening grey numbers based on grey tolerance relation is given. This paper shows that the model accords with practice according to examples and the algorithm of whitening grey numbers is also comparatively ideal. The more important point is that the subjective needs are considered during partitioning grey tolerance classes by introducing threshold value. So it is consistent with the system methodology of person-oriented person-to-machine communication

Membership-set estimation with genetic algorithms in nonlinear models

In this article, a procedure for characterizing the feasible parameter set of nonlinear models with a membership-set uncertainty description is provided. A specific Genetic Algorithm denominated Ε-GA has been developed, based on Evolutionary Algorithm for Multiobjective Optimization, to find the global minima of the multimodal functions appearing when the robust identification problem is formulated. These global minima define the contour of the feasible parameter set. The procedure makes it possible to obtain the feasible parameter non-convex even disjoint set. It is not necessary for the model to be differentiable with respect to the unknown parameters. An example is presented which determines the feasible parameter set of a nonlinear model of a thermal process. In this case, noise affects the output process (interior temperature) and besides model errors appear.

This work presents the BDU technique (Bounded Data Uncertainties) and the tuning of the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) via this technique, which considers models with bounded uncertainties. The BDU method is based on constrained game-type formulations, and allows the designer to explicitly incorporate a priori information about bounds on the sizes of the uncertainties into the problem statement. Thus, on the one hand, the uncertainty effect is not over-emphasized, avoiding an overly conservative design and, on the other hand, the uncertainty effect is not under-emphasized, avoiding an overly sensitive to errors design. A feature of this technique consists of its geometric interpretation. The structure of the paper is the following, in the first section, some problems about the least-squares method in the presence of uncertainty are introduced. The BDU technique is shown in the second section and the LQR controller in the third. After that a new guided way of tuning the LQR is offered, taking into account the uncertainties bounds via the BDU. The consequence of this method is that both recursive and algebraic Riccati equations are modified. Finally, some examples are shown and the main conclusions and future work are commented.

Camera calibration is considered an important issue in computer vision. Methods based on different calibration patterns exist. Most common is the one which used a planar pattern because it uses a very simple setup and accurate results can be computed. Since points coordinates used to perform calibration process are corrupted with noise it is necessary to take into account its effects. Normally an interval in which camera parameter is included should be computed. In this paper an improvement of camera calibration process based on planar pattern is presented. It is based on using an appropriate weight to each data vector included in the estimation process. Each weight is computed depending on the quality of the input data. Moreover, a way to compute an interval in which camera parameters are including is presented. © 2005 IEEE.

Camera calibration is a necessary step in 3D modeling in order to extract metric information from images. Computed camera parameters are used in a lot of computer vision applications which involves geometric computation. These applications use camera parameters to estimate the 3D position of a feature in the image. Depending on the accuracy of the computed camera parameter, the precision of the position of the image feature in the 3D scene vary. Moreover if previously the accuracy of camera parameters is known, one technique or another can be choose in order to improve the position of the feature in the 3D scene. Calibration process consists of a closed form solution followed by a non linear refinement. This non linear refinement gives always the best solution for a given data. For sure this solution is false since input data is corrupted with noise. Then it is more interesting to obtain an interval in which camera parameters are contained more than an accurate solution which is always false. The aim of this paper is to present a method to compute the interval in which the camera parameter is included. Computation of this interval is based on the residual error of the optimization technique. It is know that calibration process consists of minimize an index. With the residual error of the index minimization an interval can be computed in which camera parameter is. This interval can be used as a measurement of accuracy of the calibration process. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

In this paper, the relative relevance of input and output variables in achieving the control performance is analysed. In order to compare different control structures, the performances of the closed loop controlled system are expressed by the poles' position. Attached to each input (output), the control effort (control contribution) is defined as the inverse of the maximum admissible delay in its path without provoking instability. This delay, that can be roughly estimated by the shift of the open-to-closed loop poles under the variable connection, is defined as the variable relevance in the control structure. As digital control implies open-loop control in the intersampling time interval, there is always a time delay in the updating of the control. Small time delays in the most relevant variables may result in unstable behaviour. © Institution of Engineers, Australia 2005.
