Growing concern about environmental pollution has led to a tightening of legislation worldwide. An example is the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principle, which holds producers responsible for the life-cycle management of their products. In this context, the management of End-of-life tires (ELT) presents a significant challenge due to the pollution they cause by being disposed of in landfills without prior treatment. Thus, there is an opportunity to implement ELT recovery technologies that explore new sustainable alternatives. This work presents a multi-period, multi-product, multi-objective optimization model that supports decision-making for the design of a sustainable reverse logistics network. A case study is presented to show the usefulness of this model, considering the implementation of pyrolysis plants for the treatment of ELT in Chile under the regulatory framework of the EPR Law. The results show that even though the objectives are opposed, the regulatory framework of the EPR Law allows for mitigating the conflict between economic, environmental, and social decisions by establishing collection goals. The epsilon-constraint method can find economically profitable solutions, obtaining gaps of at least 8.5% and at most 19.3%. However, this will depend on the changes and sensitivity of the uncertain parameters of the model. Conclusions call for reinforcement of regulatory policies involving reverse logistics and ELT management. Future work considers the implementation of robust optimization to deal better with uncertainty. © 2023 IEEE.

Several recent studies have elucidated why knowledge distillation (KD) improves model performance. However, few have researched the other advantages of KD in addition to its improving model performance. In this study, we have attempted to show that KD enhances the interpretability as well as the accuracy of models. We measured the number of concept detectors identified in network dissection for a quantitative comparison of model interpretability. We attributed the improvement in interpretability to the class-similarity information transferred from the teacher to student models. First, we confirmed the transfer of class-similarity information from the teacher to student model via logit distillation. Then, we analyzed how class-similarity information affects model interpretability in terms of its presence or absence and degree of similarity information. We conducted various quantitative and qualitative experiments and examined the results on different datasets, different KD methods, and according to different measures of interpretability. Our research showed that KD models by large models could be used more reliably in various fields. The code is available at https://***/Rok07/KD_***. © 2023 Proceedings of Machine Learning Research. To model the periodicity of beats, state-of-the-art beat tracking systems use 'post-processing trackers' (PPTs) that rely on several empirically determined global assumptions for tempo transition, which work well for music with a steady tempo. For expressive classical music, however, these assumptions can be too rigid. With two large datasets of Western classical piano music, namely the Aligned Scores and Performances (ASAP) dataset and a dataset of Chopin's Mazurkas (Maz-5), we report on experiments showing the failure of existing PPTs to cope with local tempo changes, thus calling for new methods. In this paper, we propose a new local periodicity-based PPT, called predominant local pulse-based dynamic programming (PLPDP) tracking, that allows for more flexible tempo transitions. Specifically, the new PPT incorporates a method called 'predominant local pulses' (PLP) in combination with a dynamic programming (DP) component to jointly consider the locally detected periodicity and beat activation strength at each time instant. Accordingly, PLPDP accounts for the local periodicity, rather than relying on a global tempo assumption. Compared to existing PPTs, PLPDP particularly enhances the recall values at the cost of a lower precision, resulting in an overall improvement of F1-score for beat tracking in ASAP (from 0.473 to 0.493) and Maz-5 (from 0.595 to 0.838). © 2014 IEEE.

Full-marathon and Half-marathon distances are categorized as road running. Full-marathon running is becoming increasingly popular, and Half-marathon is increasing worldwide in both sexes and all age groups. Some aspects might relate to Full-marathon and Half-marathon running performance during training and races. Technology also plays an essential role in supporting runners and running races. Technology like artificial intelligence (AI) now supports the running athlete, not only predicting performance and results. It can also be used later to help the coach generate training programs for the athlete. This research aimed to find many aspects of marathons and performance and analyze them to see if artificial intelligence could later support them. It used secondary data and a systematic literature review proposed by Kitchenham. Out of the 58 articles, 21 of them (36.21%) received a score of 1 from Q1. Additionally, 19 articles (32.76%) received a score of 1 from both Q2 and Q3. Among the 58 articles, 9 (15.52%) received a total score of 3, with all three Q1, Q2, and Q3 scores being 1. This indicates that artificial intelligence will likely support the content of these nine articles. Several factors were also discovered to be connected to marathons and athletic performance. These findings suggested that additional investigation into marathons and performance, later backed by artificial intelligence, remained pertinent and essential. © 2024 IEEE.

Summarization Method of Argumentation Based on Argumentation Framework

Visualization of discussions using diagrams is effective in facilitating efficient debates. However, because actual debates involve many conflicts, the diagrams that represent them tend to be complex in structure. Therefore, we use AF and BAF, which have simple structure and semantics to extract arguments that may be included in conclusions of debates, to support real-time debate progression and to verify the logical structure of debates. For this purpose, we propose a "BAF diagram summarization method" that recognizes and reduces subgraphs that represent local arguments about related sub-issues from these diagrams. The final output of this method is a diagram in the form of "Reliability based Argumentation Framework (RAF)", which consists less nodes and less links between them. RAF is an extensional model of AF in which each argument is assigned an "argument class" based on its feasibility, and semantics for RAF is defined by argument classes of arguments and attack relations between them. The RAF semantics has the role of preserving the semantic information in the BAF diagram summarization method. This is because by computing the semantics of the resulting RAF, it is possible to capture some of the important information in the semantics of the original BAF. Furthermore, we developed an on-line discussion support tool that implements this method, and visualize the results of user input. © 2024, Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence. With the recent digitization, electronic equipment housings are required to be thin-walled and have rigidity, heat dissipation, corrosion resistance, and electromagnetic shielding properties. Magnesium alloys are promising materials that satisfy these requirements. Mg-Al alloys have good castability and high strength, but their thermal conductivity decreases. In general, adding alloying elements to magnesium decreases thermal conductivity the effect of aluminum addition is significant. It was found that adding calcium to Mg-Al alloys to form Mg-Al-Ca (AX) alloys results in higher thermal conductivity than that of Mg-Al alloys. However, AX alloys have poor corrosion resistance and require post-treatment such as surface treatment. In this study, AX64, which has high thermal conductivity among the AX series alloys, was used as the basic composition, and corrosion resistance was improved by adding manganese and misch metal, and an attempt was made to improve corrosion resistance and emissivity through surface treatment. The change in thermal conductivity by heat treatment was also investigated. Experimental results showed that the addition of manganese and misch metal improved corrosion resistance and thermal conductivity. Plasma anodization also improved corrosion resistance and emissivity. Heat treatment of these alloys at 400°C improved the thermal conductivity with longer holding time. © 2023 The Japan Institute of Light Metals.

Test-time adaptation (TTA) fine-tunes pre-trained deep neural networks for unseen test data. The primary challenge of TTA is limited access to the entire test dataset during online updates, causing error accumulation. To mitigate it, TTA methods have utilized the model output's entropy as a confidence metric that aims to determine which samples have a lower likelihood of causing error. Through experimental studies, however, we observed the unreliability of entropy as a confidence metric for TTA under biased scenarios and theoretically revealed that it stems from the neglect of the influence of latent disentangled factors of data on predictions. Building upon these findings, we introduce a novel TTA method named Destroy Your Object (DeYO), which leverages a newly proposed confidence metric named Pseudo-Label Probability Difference (PLPD). PLPD quantifies the influence of the shape of an object on prediction by measuring the difference between predictions before and after applying an object-destructive transformation. DeYO consists of sample selection and sample weighting, which employ entropy and PLPD concurrently. For robust adaptation, DeYO prioritizes samples that dominantly incorporate shape information when making predictions. Our extensive experiments demonstrate the consistent superiority of DeYO over baseline methods across various scenarios, including biased and wild. A chest radiology scan can significantly aid the early diagnosis and management of COVID-19 since the virus attacks the *** X-ray(CXR)gained much interest after the COVID-19 outbreak thanks to its rapid imaging time,widespread availability,low cost,and *** radiological investigations,computer-aided diagnostic tools are implemented to reduce intra-and inter-observer *** lately industrialized Artificial Intelligence(AI)algorithms and radiological techniques to diagnose and classify disease is *** current study develops an automatic identification and classification model for CXR pictures using Gaussian Fil-tering based Optimized Synergic Deep Learning using Remora Optimization Algorithm(GF-OSDL-ROA).This method is inclusive of preprocessing and classification based on *** data is preprocessed using Gaussian filtering(GF)to remove any extraneous noise from the image’s ***,the OSDL model is applied to classify the CXRs under different severity levels based on CXR *** learning rate of OSDL is optimized with the help of ROA for COVID-19 diagnosis showing the novelty of the *** model,applied in this study,was validated using the COVID-19 *** experiments were conducted upon the proposed OSDL model,which achieved a classification accuracy of 99.83%,while the current Convolutional Neural Network achieved less classification accuracy,i.e.,98.14%.

In recent years, there have been many missions where the rovers land and explore the surface of planets or other extraterrestrial bodies. The purpose of these missions is to return the samples of extraterrestrial ground. These samples can solve the planets’ origins and their sources of life. They have not only scientific value but also engineering value. Information on ground characteristics is helpful when building the base. The underground samples are especially valuable because they are not affected by space weathering and keep good conditions. In this background, the rovers, which move underground, have received attention as the method to obtain underground samples. In our previous study, the moving mechanism, which moves underground using vibrations, was proposed. The internal ground resistance decreases when imparting vibrations because the ground particles move and behave like a fluid. On the other hand, the inner ground resistance increases after imparting vibrations because the ground was compacted. The proposed mechanism moves underground while changing the ground condition. This study investigated the relationship between internal ground resistance force and vibration kinds because this relationship helps move underground. In the experiment, inner ground resistance force was measured when an object vibrating was dragged on the ground. In the results, the inner ground resistance force is increased by the vibration whose vibratory force is low. On the other hand, it is decreased by the vibration whose vibratory force is high. This knowledge is valuable for designing the rover’s underground movement using vibrations.
