Recently, researchers in the power system industry have considered the intelligent parking lot idea. The intelligent parking lots (IPL) try to exchange power with the upstream by electric vehicles (EVs) charge/discharge application. The mentioned process of charge/discharge can provide a solution model of regular problems in this field, i.e., peak time problems. Additionally, such vehicles' existence can play an essential role in environmental performance enhancement in power systems. The primary purpose of this paper is to consider such enhancements of EVs in power systems and environmental performance. For this purpose, a multi-objective optimization approach is suggested for the environmental performance and economical operation of IPL by considering the time-of-use rates of a demand response program. Since such a model is associated with various practical bounds, the multi-objective grasshopper optimization algorithm is suggested to solve this problem. The outcomes indicate the effectiveness of the compared techniques utilizing fuzzy decision-making strategies. Chaos theory is employed to increase this method and progress searching operators. Additionally, the proposed multi-objective technique is a model created using fuzzy theory, variable detection, strategy selection-based memory, and non-dominated sorting theory to choose the best Pareto from a list of solutions with robust functionality for resolving the problems mentioned above. The proposed technique is tested on a sample system that includes an intelligent parking lot, local production facilities, and non-renewable and renewable production systems under the proposed uncertainty strategy of upstream grid pricing. The study showed the effectiveness of the suggested method. The simulation findings indicate that the emission rate and overall cost of intelligent parking lots are reduced by 3.87 and 2%. It indicates that economic and environmental objectives are also satisfied due to the successful deployment

When multiple tablewares are closely packed on a table, rearranging obstacles to make space is necessary to grasp the target, often called target singulation. Due to the nature of handling fragile tablewares (i.e. plates, bowls), we make a few assumptions for the target singulation problem. First, tableware is grasped with a multi-fingered gripper; second, rearrangement is based on prehensile motions like pick-and-place. Under these assumptions, we aim to generate a relocation plan that guarantees global optimality. Furthermore, if any relocation plan cannot singulate the target, we aim to determine it quickly. Therefore, we propose a search method that utilizes the relationship between the object and its nearby obstacles expressed in propositional logic. We define the problem as determining logical entailment (i.e., whether the target can be singulated) and expand the search tree from the target while generating an optimal relocation plan. We demonstrate the performance of our algorithm by increasing the number of objects and validate the plan in a simulation environment.

Diagnosability is an important parameter to measure the fault tolerance of a multiprocessor system. If we only care about the state of a node, instead of doing the global diagnosis, Hsu and Tan proposed the idea of local diagnosis. Chiang and Tan provided an extended star structure to diagnose a node under comparison model. In this work, we evaluate the local diagnosability better by proposing a tree structure around this node. We provide the corresponding algorithm to diagnose the node. Simulation results are presented for different failure probability of a node in the tree and different percentage of faulty nodes in the tree, showing the performance of our algorithm. © 2024 Institute of Information Science. Potholes pose significant dangers on roads, leading to substantial damage to vehicles, causing accidents, and increasing maintenance costs for authorities. Accurate and timely detection of potholes is crucial for effective road maintenance and repair. However, this task is challenging, especially under varying weather conditions. Rain, snow, and fog can obscure sensors and cameras, making it difficult to capture clear images of the road surface. Additionally, nighttime and shadows can further reduce the visibility of potholes. In this paper, we propose a pothole detection system that operates effectively under diverse weather conditions using YOLOv9, a real-time object detection algorithm. Our approach was trained and evaluated on a dataset of images generated under different weather scenarios. The resulting model achieved a precision of 0.807, a recall of 0.759, a mAP50 of 0.829, and a mAP 50 - 95 of 0.551.

Wind power has become increasingly popular due to the demand for sustainable energy sources. A fundamental problem these renewable sources face is the energy cost, thus challenging their efficient operation and maintenance (O&M). Predictive maintenance (PM) has been developed to be an economical solution for the active overcoming of problems, such as wind turbine (WT) gearbox bearing failures that seriously affect the performance and stability of renewable energy systems (RES). This study develops a predictive model of gearbox-bearing temperature using advanced machine learning algorithms such as multiple linear regression (MLR), Extreme Gradient boosting (XGBoost), and Random forest (RF) from the WT supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system. The RF model performed better than the MLR and XGBoost model, with an R-squared value of 0.9840, and the Root mean square error (RMSE) and the Mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) were discovered to be 0.7352 and 0.88%, respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

Recently, urban floods have frequently occurred and severely affected urban activities in developing cities. To minimize the impacts of transport from urban flooding, it is essential to implement adaptation measures in the transport field. Firstly, it is crucial to understand the impacts of travel behaviors and traffic states from urban flooding. Therefore, this study focused on the relationship between travel speed and inundation depth and evaluating adaptation measures in the transport field. The relationship between travel speed and inundation depth was analyzed based on the probe data. A traffic assignment model was developed to evaluate the raising arterial road measure as an adaptation measure in the transport field while reflecting the analysis results of relationships between travel speed and inundation depth. This found that the implementation in raising arterial road measure for the western bypass could be an effective adaptation measure by reducing Vehicle Kilometer Traveled (VKT) by 65% while decreasing the number of detoured by 5000 vehicles compared to the flooding situation without taking any adaptation measures. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Joint dislocations are sustained frequently in the sports world, especially in contact sports. Athletic trainers and students in training must use joint simulation models to retain the skills to treat joint dislocations effectively. However, commercially available joint simulation models for athletic training are rare and often costly. The three-dimensional (3D) -printed patientspecific models with anatomical fidelity enable learners to practice before further medical intervention. However, one major limitation is that the polymers (such as PLA and ABS) are not visible under X-ray imaging, the most common non-invasive clinical diagnosis and assessment method for joint dislocation injuries. In this study, a 3D printable radiopaque polymer composite was prepared by blending radiopaque zirconia particles with fine polylactic acid (PLA) particles under different weight ratios. The polymer composites were extruded to prepare filament through a filament extruder under various extruding conditions. The mechanical properties of the filaments were evaluated through tensile testing, using an MTI-10K machine. The results showed that the PLA mixed with up to 2.5% zirconia filament can improve the mechanical strength up to 1.2-fold. However, as more zirconia was added the material became more brittle. It is anticipated that the current PLA-Zr composite could provide an affordable and convenient solution for fabricating medical training models. Copyright © 2024 by ASME.
