Worldwide, microgrids (MGs) become crucial in enhancing the reliability and cost-effectiveness of energy supply, particularly during significant circumstances in utility grid. Despite their potential, the literature has not extensively explored the resilience benefits of MGs, especially in terms of net energy metering (NEM), demand response (DR), outages, and consequent economic returns. This study fills this gap by optimizing and simulating a smart, resilient solar PV/battery MG tailored for office facilities, with an integration of electric vehicles (EVs) to support e-mobility applications. The impact of NEM and DR on the MG’s performance is assessed, demonstrating that the proposed system can meet the energy demands of both office buildings and EVs during various conditions including normal days, weekends, peak demand periods, outages, and DR events, all while achieving best techno-envrio-economic performance. The annual revenue attained with DR and NEM smart grid mechanism has reduced the energy cost by 6.25% and annual electricity charges by 6.43% compared to the based case without DR and NEM. Also, this proposed MG system cuts the annual greenhouse gas emissions by 4%. The MG effectively utilizes 93.6% of the generated PV electricity on-site, exporting the excess to the grid, which highlights the role of NEM in minimizing power curtailment and enhancing efficiency. In our opinion, the alignment of this study with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in promoting sustainable power and transportation solutions and enhancing energy system resilience highlights the pivotal role of MGs in shaping the future energy landscape.

In the modern era, an increasing number of diseases are emerging because of human lifestyle choices and bacterial transmission. Gastritis, characterized by inflammation in the stomach lining leading to frequent abdominal pain, is one such ailment. Recognizing the significance of addressing these health issues, there is a need for an expert system application specifically designed for diagnosing gastritis. The primary objective is to disseminate information to the public regarding the early symptoms of gastritis, promoting awareness from a young age. The research method used is the web-based Expert System Development Life Cycle (ESDLC). The diagnostic process employs the Certainty Factor (CF) method to ensure accurate results. By utilizing symptom CF values chosen by the user, the Certainty Factor approach facilitates a diagnosis based on calculations established by medical specialists. The research culminates in the development of an expert system application capable of accurately diagnosing the disease Android based. The accuracy rates for the first, second, and third test cases are reported as 98.848%, 99.8464%, and 99.99115264%, respectively. System testing, conducted through black-box testing, validates the application's functionality, demonstrating a 100% success rate for each component.

Diphtheria is an infectious disease that affects the upper respiratory system and throat, arising suddenly and caused by Corynebacterium diphtheriae. The symptoms of diphtheria such as fever, swollen neck and slimy nose are often interpreted as influenza or laryngitis. Diphtheria is a contagious and deadly disease that requires specialized and rapid treatment and care. In today's technological era, it can be overcome with a system that can diagnose diphtheria like a doctor's diagnosis ability commonly called an expert system. This study describes the application of an expert system to diagnose diphtheria disease. The research method used is the web-based Expert System Development Life Cycle (ESDLC). The method used to process input values is Forward Chaining. Fuzzy Tsukamoto to calculate the input value from the user. The research has been tested with Blackbox testing showing the results that the expert system works well and accuracy testing with 92% results. The results show effectiveness with a satisfactory level of accuracy in detecting diphtheria disease. This research contributes to the development of expert systems in the health sector with a focus on diagnosing diphtheria disease using a fuzzy logic approach.

Solid waste creation will continue to grow both in amount and pace as long as there are human activities. The consequences of improper solid waste management are highly harmful to the environment and human health, requiring immediate action to stabilize the situation. This research represents a solid waste collection management system through several unified modelling language (UML) models. The motivation for utilizing the UML modelling approach in solid waste collection management is twofold: first, the environmental importance of solid waste management collection, second the efficiency of UML models in representing such a complex system. The models developed in this research serve as the initial step towards building an efficient mobile application for solid waste collection management. Such mobile application is expected to encourage the use of best practices to manage solid waste collection according to the recent rapid growth of mobile technology utilization.

On the Powerfulness of Textual Outlier Exposure for Visual OoD Detection

Successful detection of Out-of-Distribution (OoD) data is becoming increasingly important to ensure safe deployment of neural networks. One of the main challenges in OoD detection is that neural networks output overconfident predictions on OoD data, make it difficult to determine OoD-ness of data solely based on their predictions. Outlier exposure addresses this issue by introducing an additional loss that encourages low-confidence predictions on OoD data during training. While outlier exposure has shown promising potential in improving OoD detection performance, all previous studies on outlier exposure have been limited to utilizing visual outliers. Drawing inspiration from the recent advancements in vision-language pre-training, this paper venture out to the uncharted territory of textual outlier exposure. First, we uncover the benefits of using textual outliers by replacing real or virtual outliers in the image-domain with textual equivalents. Then, we propose various ways of generating preferable textual outliers. Our extensive experiments demonstrate that generated textual outliers achieve competitive performance on large-scale OoD and hard OoD benchmarks. Furthermore, we conduct empirical analyses of textual outliers to provide primary criteria for designing advantageous textual outliers: near-distribution, descriptiveness, and inclusion of visual semantics. © 2023, CC BY-NC-SA.

This paper discusses the development of electric linear actuators to be used in the link structure of robots. Linkage is used in the parallel mechanism of robots, which can solve the disadvantage of serial mechanisms that cannot share the load with other actuators and have low accuracy. In order for linear actuators to be used in robots (especially walking humanoids), high speed is required, unlike conventional linear actuators that focused on high forces. In addition, the linear actuator should be lightweight to reduce the moment of inertia of the robot. This will reduce the required torque of the motor and reduce the power consumption of the robot. Additionally, the linear actuator should measure the external force so that the robot can perform force control. The Series Elastic Actuator(SEA) is one of the actuators capable of measuring external forces by measuring the amount of change in an elastic object. SEA also prevents high forces and high frequencies from being transmitted into the system through springs. However, this has the disadvantage that the force bandwidth is limited when determining the spring constant. In order to adopt only the advantages of SEA, the developed linear actuator solved this disadvantage by measuring an external force with a current of a motor through a low gear ratio. Therefore, at the end of the developed linear actuator is the Series Elastic System, which serves as a physical filtering function. Finally, experiments will verify the functions of this linear actuator and prove that it is optimized for the linkage mechanism of the robot.

Neural Diffeomorphic Non-uniform B-spline Flows

Normalizing flows have been successfully modeling a complex probability distribution as an invertible transformation of a simple base distribution. However, there are often applications that require more than invertibility. For instance, the computation of energies and forces in physics requires the second derivatives of the transformation to be well-defined and continuous. Smooth normalizing flows employ infinitely differentiable transformation, but with the price of slow non-analytic inverse transforms. In this work, we propose diffeomorphic non-uniform B-spline flows that are at least twice continuously differentiable while bi-Lipschitz continuous, enabling efficient parametrization while retaining analytic inverse transforms based on a sufficient condition for diffeomorphism. Firstly, we investigate the sufficient condition for Ck−2-diffeomorphic non-uniform kth-order B-spline transformations. Then, we derive an analytic inverse transformation of the non-uniform cubic B-spline transformation for neural diffeomorphic non-uniform B-spline flows. Lastly, we performed experiments on solving the force matching problem in Boltzmann generators, demonstrating that our C2-diffeomorphic non-uniform B-spline flows yielded solutions better than previous spline flows and faster than smooth normalizing flows. This study provides an initial exploration and further understanding of the factors that are parameters in evaluating the success of Enterprise Architecture (EA) implementation. An evaluation process is needed to ensure that the EA project implementation provides effectiveness, efficiency, and feasibility of the EA information system as well as assessing previous project experience to avoid future EA project risks. The research aims to present a Systematic Literature Review based on the stages of identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion so that 14 main articles are selected for review with strong actual relevance. The study results provide insights and references that can be used to further explore key factors in evaluating the success of EA implementation in the future. It was found that there were ten factors that most influenced the evaluation of the success of EA implementation and it was concluded that two potential factors were the most influential and required further exploration in evaluating the success of EA implementation which could be applied in various sectors/dimensions. This study contributes as an initial reference for overcoming problems in investigating and exploring the factors that influence the success of EA implementation as an effort to assess the success of achieving future organizational goals.

In this paper we develop an integrated midcourse-terminal guidance methodology for a trailing interceptor in a many-on-many intercept scenario. The interceptor acts upon the engagement outcomes of the preceding interceptor group and can dynamically engage one of the evaders at the specified decision time, which separates the scenario in midcourse and terminal phases. We propose a methodology based on reachability analysis and adjoint mathematics tools for selecting an optimal decision (handover) point between the engagement phases. The handover point optimizes the trade-off between the expected miss distance and control effort over all possible allocations. The proposed approach facilitates computationally efficient solution for online operation in a salvo-attack scenario. The methodology is exemplified for minimum-time midcourse trajectories and proportional navigation terminal guidance law.

Interfacial engineering and rapid thermal crystallization of Sb2S3 photoanodes for enhanced photoelectrochemical performances

Antimony sulfide (Sb2S3) is a promising material for photoelectrochemical (PEC) devices that generate green hydrogen from sunlight and water. In this study, we present a synthesis of high-performance Sb2S3 photoanodes via an interface-engineered hydrothermal growth followed by rapid thermal annealing (RTA). A TiO2 interfacial layer plays a crucial role in ensuring homogeneous precursor deposition, enhancing light absorption, and forming efficient heterojunctions with Sb2S3, thereby significantly improving charge separation and transport. RTA further improves crystallinity and interfacial contact, resulting in dense and uniform Sb2S3 films with enlarged grains and fewer defects. The optimized Sb2S3 photoanode achieves a photocurrent density of 2.51 mA/cm2 at 1.23 V vs. the reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE), one of the highest reported for Sb2S3 without additional catalysts or passivation layers. To overcome the limitations of oxygen evolution reaction (OER), we employ the iodide oxidation reaction (IOR) as an alternative, significantly lowering the overpotential and improving charge transfer kinetics. Consequently, it produces a record photocurrent density of 8.9 mA/cm2 at 0.54 V vs. RHE. This work highlights the synergy between TiO2 interfacial engineering, RTA-induced crystallization, and IOR-driven oxidation, offering a promising pathway for efficient and scalable PEC hydrogen production. © 2025 Science Press
