The goal of deterioration modeling is to support the decision on pro-active replacement of parts in components that have a shorter life cycle than the vehicle (commercial vehicle) itself. A method of deterioration modeling is demonstrated and exemplified at a turbo charger that includes expertise on the components and an integrated mathematical-physical description of wear and takes into account the knowledge on endurance strength. The deterioration model input signals are the load histories of the components which have to be stored in the truck in so called load matrices. For these load matrices a storage space requirement analysis is presented that considers the operation time of the truck and the specific commercial vehicle requirements.

One key to success for high quality enterprise information systems development is to validate the customers' requirements sufficiently at the early stage. Scenarios are an effective means to an end because they make it possible to represent various situations of system usage. Most scenarios are defined by using a natural language or such a formal language as Unified Modeling Language (UML) and describe normal, alternative, and exceptional service flows from the point of view of system usage. As a result, scenarios make it easy for the customers to confirm their requirements intuitively because of the concreteness. On the other hand, based on the V-model, which is well-known software development process and denotes the correspondence of requirement analysis stage to integration test stage, it is desirable that the testers should test the system by using the test cases derived from the validated scenarios. We have proposed a UML-based requirements analysis (RA) model with automatic prototype system generation for enterprise Web application development. This paper proposes a way to efficiently create reliable test cases from the scenarios that have been validated by the customers using the prototype system which was generated by the RA model.

Evaluation of a use-case-driven requirements analysis tool employing web UI prototype generation

It has been widely acknowledged that ambiguous or incomplete customer requirements are a major reason for the failure of software development projects. A key example of this is the inconsistency between implementation image and specifications provided in the early stages of software development. To address this, we propose a method for automatic generation of user interface prototypes for developing Web-based business applications, based on the requirements specifications defined in the Unified Modeling Language (UML). In this study, we compare the proposed method with traditional use case modeling to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper presents a wheel sinkage detection method that may be used in robotic lunar exploration tasks. The method extracts the boundary line between a robot wheel and lunar soil by segmenting the wheel-soil images captured from a video camera that monitors wheel-soil interaction. The detected boundary is projected onto the soil-free image of the robot wheel to determine the depth of wheel sinkage. The segmentation method is based on graph theory. It first clusters a wheel-soil image into homogeneous regions called superpixels and constructs a graph on the superpixels. It then partitions the graph into segments by using normalized cuts. Compared with the existing methods, the proposed algorithm is more robust to illumination condition, shadows and dust (covering the wheel). The method's efficacy has been validated by experiments under various conditions. © 2010 IEEE.

The matrix inversion lemma gives an explicit formula of the inverse of a positive-definite matrix A added to a block of dyads (represented as BB H ). It is well-known in the literature that this formula is very useful to develop a block-based recursive least-squares algorithm for the block-based recursive identification of linear systems or the design of adaptive filters. We already extended this result to the case when the matrix A is singular, and presented the matrix pseudo-inversion lemma. Such a singular case may occur in a situation where a given problem is overdetermined in the sense that it has more equations than unknowns. In this paper, based on these results, we propose a block-based adaptive multichannel super-exponential deflation algorithm. We present simulation results for the performance of the block-based algorithm in order to show the usefulness of the matrix pseudo-inversion lemma.

Three controller structures are deduced according to non-parameters time-varying dynamic linearization theorem, then the controller parameters are tuning by IFT technique. The rationality of the 3 structures of the controller is assured by the theorem, whereas, the controller structure is designed blindly by IFT. Obviously, the new method settles down this problem more properly. Finally, the three data-based methods IFT-MFAC, MFAC and IFT were compared through 3 examples. And the simulation results show the validity of the IFT-MFAC.

The vehicle system is a multi-domain system that requires many branches of science and engineering. Therefore the development of the vehicle system requires the use of design methodologies that utilize simulations, which have grown increasingly sophisticated in recent years. This paper describes how VHDL-AMS was used to model the powertrain, alternator and battery system that are the basic elements of the vehicle power network system, and examines the simulation results with the aim of realizing a system simulation whose scope covers the entire vehicle.

Automatic image annotation, which aims at automatically identifying and then assigning semantic keywords to the meaningful objects in a digital image, is not a very difficult task for human but has been regarded as a difficult and challenging problem to machines. In this paper, we present a hierarchical annotation scheme considering that generally human s visual identification to a scenery object is a rough-to-fine hierarchical process. First, the input image is segmented into multiple regions and each segmented region is roughly labeled with a general keyword using the multi-classification support vector machine. Since the results of rough annotation affect fine annotation directly, we construct the statistical contextual relationship to revise the improper labels and improve the accuracy of rough annotation. To obtain reasonable fine annotation for those roughly classified regions, we propose an active semi-supervised expectation-maximization algorithm, which can not only find the representative pattern of each fine class but also classify the roughly labeled regions into corresponded fine classes. Finally, the contextual relationship is applied again to revise the improper fine labels. To illustrate the effectiveness of the presented approaches, a prototype image annotation system is developed, the preliminary results of which showed that the hierarchical annotation scheme is effective.

This paper is concerned with the stability analysis and controller design for a class of MIMO networked control systems (NCSs) with network constraints. In view of MIMO NCSs where network is of limited access channels, a discrete-time switched delay model is formulated. By constructing a novel piecewise Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, a new stability criterion is developed in terms of linear matrix inequalities. On the basis of the obtained stability condition, a static output feedback controller is designed by applying an iterative algorithm. A numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2010 ICIC International.
