Integrated generation–consumption dispatch based on compensation mechanism considering demand response behavior

Demand response(DR) is important to account for behaviors of the demand side to yield an optimal dispatch result. However, it is difficult for energy suppliers to collect customers' private information unless there is an incentive mechanism for customers to do so. Therefore,this paper proposes a new integrated generation–consumption dispatch based on compensation mechanism considering DR behavior. Firstly, in light of the dayahead load forecast data, we deduce the utility function model of different customers. By subtracting generating units' operation cost from consumers' total utility, the dispatch model has a decentralized demand participant structure based on this utility function. The utility function is used to describe consumers' preferences and energy consumption behaviors. Secondly, an effective compensation mechanism is designed to ensure customers to select the level of compensation appropriate to their willingness to curtail load. Finally, a new dispatch model is proposed that incorporates the DR compensation mechanism into the generation–consumption dispatch model. The new model can improve the interaction of generation and consumption,and benefit both the energy supplier and its customers. The proposed model is piecewise linearized and solved by a mixed-integer linear programming method. It is tested on a six-bus system and the IEEE 118-bus system. Simulation results show that the proposed model can realize both maximum social welfare and Pareto optimal results.

Nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ) is a harmful air pollutant, which is primarily emitted from vehicle exhausts and industrial processes, and it poses significant health risks. This study presents a reliable solution for the detection of NO₂ by integrating a transparent carbon nanotube (CNT) gas sensor with an SnO 2 -based memristor heater (MH). First, the heating capabilities and gas sensitivity of the SnO 2 -based MH are evaluated at varying thicknesses (100–200 nm) to optimize performance. The findings of the study indicate that the 175 nm SnO 2 -based MH exhibited the highest sensitivity, which included a 40.69 % response at 20 ppm and a 19.42 % response at 0.5 ppm. Furthermore, SnO 2 demonstrates superior thermal stability and reduced variability compared to conventional ZnO-based MH, which guarantees a consistent performance for 50 cycles. These results underscore the potential of SnO 2 -based MH for next-generation gas sensors, which provide improved sensitivity, durability, and reliability for industrial safety applications.

Constrained Extremum Seeking: a Modified-Barrier Function Approach ⁎

In this paper, we address the problem of steering the input of a convex function to a value that minimizes the function under a convex constraint. We consider the case where the constraint cannot be violated of more than a user-defined value during the whole transient phase. The mathematical expression of both the cost function and the constraint are assumed to be unknown. The only information available are the on-line values of the cost and the constraint. To tackle this problem, an optimization law, based on a modified-barrier function, and involving the gradient of both the cost function and the constraint, is firstly designed. The Lie bracket formalism is then exploited to approximate this law, by combining time-periodic signals with the on-line measurements of both the cost and the constraint. The stability property of the resulting constrained extremum seeking system is proved, and its effectiveness is shown in simulation.

As the chemical industry expands, the use of benzene, toluene, and xylene (collectively known as BTX) in industrial production has increased greatly. Meanwhile, the toxic nature and potential health hazards of BTX gases cannot be ignored due to low-concentration leaks underline the critical need for rapid and real-time monitoring of these gases. Chemiresistive metal oxide semiconductor (MOS)-based gas sensors, which are extensively used for gas detection in both industrial settings and everyday life, emerge as one of the optimal solutions for trace BTX detection. These sensors are highly valued for their high sensitivity and low detection limits. Nevertheless, the improvement of selectivity towards specific BTX gases to achieve efficient and precise detection still remains challenging. This review summarizes the chemiresistive MOS-based gas sensors designed for BTX detection, categorizing them based on the components of sensing materials-basically into three groups: single-component, single heterojunction, and multiple heterojunctions gas sensing materials. Further, the review proposes the future application prospects of chemiresistive MOS-based BTX gas sensors, with specific emphasis on their significance in promoting industrial safety and environmental monitoring.

The shafting drivetrain of the doubly fed wind turbine is the part with the highest failure rate. The electromagnetic torque fluctuation caused by the grid fault easily results in the torsional vibration fatigue loss of the shaft. Accordingly, the influences of drivetrain fatigue life loss under different grid faults require investigation. Firstly, the four-mass model of the drivetrain is constructed on the basis of MATLAB/Simuhnk. Secondly, the electromagnetic torque response under short-circuit fault of the grid is obtained via model simulation. Finally, the effects of different types of grid faults on the fatigue life of the drivetrain are analysed through Mlife. Results show that the electromagnetic torque fluctuation load generated by grid fault has no apparent influence on the fatigue life of the drivetrain in the short term. but the cumulative effect of short-term damage will aggravate the fatigue life loss of the drivetrain and increase the failure risk of the component. The electromagnetic torque generated by the three-phase symmetrical short-circuit is the most violent and has the maximum effect on the fatigue life of the drivetrain. © 2019 Institution of engineering and Technology. It is well-known that optimizing the wheel system of lunar rovers is ***,this is a difficult task due to the complex terrain of the moon and limited resources onboard lunar *** this study,an experimental prototype was set up to analyze the existing mechanical design of a lunar rover and improve its ***,a new vane-telescopic walking wheel was proposed for the lunar rover with a positive and negative quadrangle suspension,considering the complex terrain of the ***,the performance was optimized under the limitations of preserving the slope passage and minimizing power *** was achieved via analysis of the wheel force during ***,the effectiveness of the proposed method was demonstrated by several simulation *** newly designed wheel can protrude on demand and reduce energy consumption;it can be used as a reference for lunar rover development engineering in China.

With the fast development of renewable energy generation, the randomness and volatility seriously threaten the stability of the power system. In order to improve the consumption rate of renewable energy and the economic benefit, the source-network-load collaborative optimization is put forward and widely used in the power system. And the active power distribution network which consists of the energy storage devices and flexible load is the best carrier to realize it. Based on the active power distribution network planning, this paper firstly designs an economic index covering construction cost and operation cost as the optimization objective. Then with the physical constraints consisting of the physical features of generation units, energy storage devices and flexible load, the source-network-load collaborative optimization model of active power distribution network is established. Finally, a case of city distribution network is presented to verify the effect of source-network-load collaborative optimization and the efficiency of the optimization model.

The problem of integrated production and maintenance control of unreliable manufacturing systems evolving in a stochastic and dynamic environment is studied in this paper. The considered system is subject to degradation and the produced products are perishable with random shelf-lives. The literature of operations management for perishable products reports a correlation between the shelf-life of the product and the machine degradation. In fact, the latter results in shelf-lives reduction. Ignoring this correlation effect may result in inaccurate values of the shelf-lives and inefficient control policies. The objective of this paper is to develop a joint production and maintenance control policy that minimizes the total cost composed of backlog, inventory holding, disposal and maintenance costs. The proposed parametrized joint control policy combines a multi hedging point policy and an age-based preventive maintenance policy. The optimization of the parameters of the proposed joint control policy is obtained using a simulation-based optimization approach and sensitivity analyses are provided to confirm its robustness. The obtained results show that the correlation between machine degradation and shelf-life reduction has a major influence on the control parameters and that preventive maintenance interventions can lead to increasing the shelf-life of products and minimizing the total cost. The proposed joint control policy is then compared to three other polices for a wide range of system and cost data. The obtained results show that the proposed joint control policy outperforms the other polices in terms of total incurred costs. © 2021, CC BY.

This work presents the modeling and the control of an Off-grid Photovoltaic (PV) system which consisted of a monocristalline PV module, a DC load, a DC-DC boost converter and a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) bloc. The output characteristic of the PV module is nonlinear and changes with solar irradiance and temperature. So, for given climatic conditions, the PV module output power is maximal when its voltage equals to a certain value. When temperature and solar irradiance change, the duty cycle of the converter considered as the control law is continuously adjusted to track the maximum power point (MPP) of the module. This paper highlights the non-linear Backstepping controller to extract the maximum power from the PV system. Asymptotic stability of the system is verified through Lyapunov stability analysis. The simulations results show that the proposed controller offers fast and accurate tracking of the MPP whatever is the change of the climatic conditions.

In this work, discrete-time extremum seeking algorithms for unconstrained optimization problems are developed. A general class of non-commutative maps and one- and two point function evaluation polices are presented to approximate a gradient-descent algorithm, suitable for extremum seeking problems.
