Stochastic Link Flow Model for Signalized Traffic Networks with Uncertainty in Demand

In order to investigate the stochastic features in urban traffic dynamics, we propose a Stochastic Link Flow Model (SLFM) for signalized traffic networks with demand uncertainties. In the proposed model, the link traffic state is described using four different link state modes, and the probability for each link state mode is determined based on the stochastic link states. The SLFM model is expressed as a finite mixture approximation of the link state probabilities and the dynamic link flow models for all the four link state modes. Using data from microscopic traffic simulator SUMO, we illustrate that the proposed model can provide a reliable estimation of the link traffic states, and as well as good estimations on the link state uncertainties propagating within a signalized traffic network. © 2018

Quantum dots dye-sensitized solar cells (QDSSC) has emerged as a highly promising photovoltaic technology for next-generation solar cells due to the distinct optoelectronics features of quantum dots (QDs) light-harvesting materials such as high absorption coefficient, multiple exciton generation possibility and easily tunable absorption range that can deliver both low production costs. TiO 2 is currently the conventional electron transport material (ETM) used in dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC) but incur high cost and high-temperature processing. Zinc oxide (ZnO) is identified as a low-cost material with higher electron mobility than TiO2 for efficient electron extraction. Furthermore, solution-process able ZnO quantum dots (QDs) allow manipulation of quantum confinement, light scattering and energy band alignment to improve charge extraction. ZnO QDs were synthesised using a self-assembly method of zinc acetate dihydrate solution with potassium hydroxide (KOH) solution and deposited on the Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) glass substrate by using spin coater (200-1500 rpm) for 20 seconds. Afterward, annealed for 5 hours in the furnace at temperatures of 450 ° C. In the characterization the solar cell used X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), UV-Visible spectroscopy, and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).

Solar pores are intense concentrations of magnetic flux that emerge through the Sun’s photosphere. When compared to sunspots, they are much smaller in diameter and hence can be impacted and buffeted by neighbouring granular activity to generate significant magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) wave energy flux within their confines. However, observations of solar pores from ground-based telescope facilities may struggle to capture subtle motions synonymous with higher-order MHD wave signatures due to seeing effects produced in the Earth’s atmosphere. Hence, we have exploited timely seeing-free and high-quality observations of four small magnetic pores from the High Resolution Telescope (HRT) of the Polarimetric and Helioseismic Imager (PHI) on board the Solar Orbiter spacecraft, during its first close perihelion passage in March 2022 (at a distance of 0.5 au from the Sun). Through acquisition of data under stable observing conditions, we have been able to measure the area fluctuations and horizontal displacements of the solar pores. Cross correlations between perturbations in intensity, area, line-of-sight velocity, and magnetic fields, coupled with the first-time application of novel Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) techniques on the boundary oscillations, provide a comprehensive diagnosis of the embedded MHD waves as sausage and kink modes. Additionally, the previously elusive m = 2 fluting mode is identified in the most magnetically isolated of the four pores. An important consideration lies in how the identified wave modes contribute towards the transfer of energy into the upper solar atmosphere. We find that the four pores examined have approximately 56%, 72%, 52%, and 34% of their total wave energy associated with the identified sausage modes, and around 23%, 17%, 39%, and 49% to their kink modes, respectively, while the first pore also has around an 11% contribution linked to the fluting mode. In this work, discrete-time extremum seeking algorithms for unconstrained optimization problems are developed. A general class of non-commutative maps and one- and two point function evaluation polices are presented to approximate a gradient-descent algorithm, suitable for extremum seeking problems. Moreover, adaptive step size rules are discussed to achieve faster convergence and vanishing steady state oscillations.

Toluene, a carcinogen widely used in industrial production, necessitates precise detection for environmental and human safety. The semiconductor gas sensor is an efficient and portable test instrument, but most semiconductor gas sensors face the challenge of high detection limit and low sensitivity when detecting trace levels of toluene. Herein, aluminum-doped zinc oxide supported gold nanoparticles (Au/ZnO-Al) material with a small Au nanoparticle size ( d  = 2.80 ± 0.70 nm) was prepared by the deposition precipitation method. Au/ZnO-Al sensor can detect ppb-level toluene with a low detection limit of 1.1 parts per billion (ppb). Additionally, Au/ZnO-Al sensor also shows high response value of 18.3 and excellent selectivity towards 5 parts per million (ppm) toluene at 275 ℃. Meanwhile, Au/ZnO-Al sensor exhibits excellent reproducibility with no significant change in the resistance over five consecutive cycles of the same concentration of 3 ppm and 500 ppb toluene. The developed Au/ZnO-Al sensor can improve the performance of toluene mainly ascribed to the perimeter interface between Au nanoparticles and ZnO as well as the formation of Schottky junction. Furthermore, the co-effect of Au deposition and Al doping significantly increases the amount of adsorbed oxygen, which is beneficial for enhancing the sensing response. Hence, the Au/ZnO-Al sensor has great potential in detecting trace toluene for human safety.

Anomaly detection plays a key role in maintaining the reliable and stable operation of industrial systems, especially in high-reliability fields. Conventional single-modal data cannot provide comprehensive information about the detected object, resulting in false or missed detection. To address the challenges of complex anomaly patterns and heterogeneous data in industrial scenarios, we propose MMDT-IAD, a multi-modal digital twin (DT)-based anomaly detection framework that integrates edge–cloud collaboration. By lever- aging physical, geometric, visual, and semantic modalities, MMDT-IAD constructs a comprehensive virtual representation of monitored objects and enables real-time, scalable detection across distributed industrial environments. Next, to enable efficient fusion of heterogeneous DT modalities, we propose a One-Primary- Three-Auxiliary (1P3A) cross-modal decision fusion strategy. Finally, we apply the MMDT-IAD frame-work to the anomaly detection of aviation electrical connector pins, and present a detailed application process. The experimental results prove the effectiveness of the MMDT-IAD framework in detecting abnormal pins. Moreover, we discuss the generality of MMDT-IAD framework considering several common industrial anomalies. These results highlight the potential of MMDT-IAD framework and 1P3A method to significantly improve anomaly detection in other complex industrial scenarios.

In modern era, one of the rising power quality (PQ) concern is harmonics distortion (HD). The HD is usually produced by increase in the utilization of nonlinear user loads at domestic level. It not only spoils the PQ but also have harmful effects on electrical appliances. So, this paper presents a new approach to mitigate the HD in home appliances rapidly by utilizing the active band pass filter (ABPF). The fast Fourier transform (FFT) technique is employed for the detection of harmonics in appliances. The band pass filter dramatically affects the response time of active filter. The suggested control methodology is capable to eliminate harmonics from distorted input voltage waveform and provides a pure sinusoidal waveform. The prototype of this model is also implemented. Experimental results along with simulation show that the proposed model is quite effective in eliminating HD despite load variations and also useful to compensate the reactive power in electronic home appliances. Hence, this technique is cost effective for domestic users with high quality performance in all aspects.

Objectives Although previous epidemiological studies have reported the effects of fetal exposure to phthalates and phenols on birth outcomes, evidence is limited. The objective of this study was to investigate whether prenatal exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals [EDCs;phthalates and bisphenol A (BPA)] is associated with birth outcomes and whether there are sex-specific *** We used data from the Korean CHildren’s ENvironmental health Study (Ko-CHENS) cohort. Exposure to phthalates and BPA was measured by urine tests, and the information on outcomes and confounders was obtained from delivery records, biomarker assessment, and a self-reported questionnaire. We performed multivariate logistic regression to estimate the association between exposure to individual EDCs and each birth outcome. Additionally, to evaluate the effects of EDC mixture exposure, we performed weighted quantile sum regression analysis. Subgroup analysis stratified by maternal age and sex at birth was performed to examine potential differences in *** This study included 2,176 mother-child pairs from the Ko-CHENS. We observed a significant association between the risk of PTB and exposure to BPA during early pregnancy and mono-carboxyoctyl phthalate (MCOP) during late pregnancy, with odds ratios of 1.23 (95% CI: 1.01, 1.49) and 1.29 (95% CI: 1.03, 1.62), respectively. Additionally, there was a positive association between exposure to MCOP during early pregnancy and the risk of LBW (OR: 1.39, 95% CI: 1.03, 1.89). For male infants, exposure to MCOP during early pregnancy was associated with the risk of LBW (OR: 2.44, 95% CI: 1.43, 4.15), and exposure to MCOP during late pregnancy was associated with the risk of PTB (OR 1.45, 95% CI: 1.05, 2.02).Conclusions This study presents quantitative evidence for the association between prenatal exposure to EDCs, especially BPA and MCOP, and PTB/LBW.
