Photonic crystal ring resonators (PCRR) as momentous candidates for future photonic crystal integrated circuits (PCICs) draw worldwide attention. In this paper, different configurations are proposed based on single, parallel, and serial PCRRs. To be precise, the different coupling lengths and alignments have been discussed in double and triple PCRRs in parallel and serial configurations to achieve the highest efficiency concerning the desired applications such as an add-drop filter (ADF) and a power splitter. Moreover, in the achieved optimum double and triple PCRRs, the effect of coupling radius change has been discussed. © 2024 Walter de Gruyter GmbH. All rights reserved.

Multi-channel CNN to classify Nepali COVID-19 related tweets using hybrid features

Because of the current COVID-19 pandemic’s increasing fears among people, it has triggered several health complications such as depression and anxiety. Such complications have not only affected developed countries but also developing countries such as Nepal. These complications can be understood from peoples’ tweets and comments posted online after their felicitous analysis and sentiment classification. Nevertheless, owing to the limited number of tokens and words in each tweet, it is crucial to capture multiple pieces of information associated with them for better understanding. In this study, we, first, represent each tweet by combining both syntactic and semantic information, called hybrid features. The syntactic information is generated from the bag-of-words method, whereas the semantic information is generated from the combination of the fastText-based (ft) and domain-specific (ds) methods. Second, we design a novel multi-channel CNN (MCNN) model, which ensembles the multiple CNNs, to capture multi-scale information for better classification. Last, we evaluate the efficacy of both the proposed feature extraction method and the MCNN model classifying tweets into three sentiment classes (positive, neutral, and negative) on the NepCOV19Tweets dataset, which is the only public COVID-19 tweets dataset in the Nepali language. The evaluation results show that the proposed hybrid features outperform individual feature extraction methods with the highest classification accuracy of 69.7% and the MCNN model outperforms the existing methods with the highest classification accuracy of 71.3% during classification. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2023.

A substitution box(S-Box)is a crucial component of contemporary cryptosystems that provide data protection in block *** the moment,chaotic maps are being created and extensively used to generate these SBoxes as a chaotic map assists in providing disorder and resistance to combat cryptanalytical *** this paper,the construction of a dynamic S-Box using a cipher key is proposed using a novel chaotic map and an innovative tweaking *** projected chaotic map and the proposed tweak approach are presented for the first time and the use of parameters in their workingmakes both of these dynamic in *** tweak approach employs cubic polynomials while permuting the values of an initial S-Box to enhance its cryptographic *** of the parameters are provided using the cipher key and a small variation in values of these parameters results in a completely different unique *** analysis and exploration confirmed that the projected chaoticmap exhibits a significant amount of chaotic *** security assessment in terms of bijectivity,nonlinearity,bits independence,strict avalanche,linear approximation probability,and differential probability criteria are utilized to critically investigate the effectiveness of the proposed S-Box against several *** proposed S-Box’s cryptographic performance is comparable to those of recently projected S-Boxes for its adaption in real-world security *** comparative scrutiny pacifies the genuine potential of the proposed S-Box in terms of its applicability for data security.

Monitoring sugar concentration during fermentation is crucial for producing high-quality alcoholic beverages. Traditional methods for measuring sugar concentration can be costly and time-consuming, especially for small-scale producers. In this study, we developed a low-cost buoyant force measurement device for monitoring sugar concentration in water solutions. The device consists of a buoyant object fully submerged in the solution and connected to a load-cell sensor. As the sugar concentration in the liquid increases, the buoyant force on the object increases, and the load-cell measures this force. Proposed device is calibrated using solutions of known sugar concentrations and its high accuracy and precision is presented. The device is tested in controlled environment to ensure accurate tracking changes in sugar concentration over time. Proposed device can be a valuable tool for small-scale producers looking to optimize their fermentation processes while minimizing costs. © 2023 IEEE.

Tourism route planning is widely applied in the smart tourism *** Pareto-optimal front obtained by the traditional multi-objective evolutionary algorithm exhibits long tails,sharp peaks and disconnected regions problems,which leads to uneven distribution and weak diversity of optimization solutions of tourism *** by these limitations,we propose a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm for tourism route recommendation(MOTRR)with two-stage and Pareto layering based on *** method decomposes the multiobjective problem into several subproblems,and improves the distribution of solutions through a two-stage *** crowding degree mechanism between extreme and intermediate populations is used in the two-stage *** neighborhood is determined according to the weight of the subproblem for crossover ***,Pareto layering is used to improve the updating efficiency and population diversity of the *** two-stage method is combined with the Pareto layering structure,which not only maintains the distribution and diversity of the algorithm,but also avoids the same *** with several classical benchmark algorithms,the experimental results demonstrate competitive advantages on five test functions,hypervolume(HV)and inverted generational distance(IGD)*** the experimental results of real scenic spot datasets from two famous tourism social networking sites with vast amounts of users and large-scale online comments in Beijing,our proposed algorithm shows better *** proves that the tourism routes recommended by our proposed algorithm have better distribution and diversity,so that the recommended routes can better meet the personalized needs of tourists.

Leveraging the Potential of Large Language Models

This study focuses on enhancing Natural Language Processing (NLP) in generative AI chatbots through the utilization of advanced pre-trained models. We assessed five distinct Large Language Models (LLMs): TRANSFORMER MODEL, FALCON 7B, LAMINI-FLAN-T5-783M, LLAMA-2-7B, and LLAMA-2-13B to identify the most effective one. Our findings revealed that the LLAMA Model excels in comprehending user queries and delivering precise responses during conversations. The article elucidates the methodology employed to evaluate and select various models for our chatbot. Through rigorous testing, we determined that the LLAMA-2-13B model exhibits enhanced response time and accuracy. Additionally, we employed tools such as Facebook Artificial Intelligence Similarity Search (FAISS) and experimented with user interfaces like Streamlit and Chainlit to enhance the chatbot's user-friendliness. The research underscores the significance of selecting the appropriate model for crafting efficient chatbots. Ultimately, the LLAMA-13B model emerged as the standout performer, showcasing superior performance. Benchmark assessments, including HellaSwag and WinoGrande, which gauge common sense reasoning, were employed to evaluate our chatbot's capabilities. The study concludes that LLAMA-based models hold significant promise for the development of innovative and user-friendly chatbots in the future. Povzetek: Študija se osredotoča na izboljšanje obdelave naravnega jezika (NLP) v generativnih AI klepetalnicah z uporabo naprednih vnaprej usposobljenih modelov. Analizirali so pet modelov: TRANSFORMER MODEL, FALCON 7B, LAMINI-FLAN-T5-783M, LLAMA-2-7B in LLAMA-2-13B. Model LLAMA-13B se je izkazal kot najboljši z vrhunskimi rezultati na testih HellaSwag in WinoGrande. Cataracts are common eye disorders characterized by the clouding of the lens, preventing light from passing through and impairing vision. Various factors, including changes in the lens’s hydration or alterations in its proteins, may contribute to their development. Regular eye examinations conducted by an ophthalmologist or optometrist are imperative for detecting cataracts and other ocular conditions early on. Manual checks by caregivers pose several problems, including subjectivity, human error, and a lack of expertise. Biomedical fusion involves combining or linking various characteristics specific to certain diseases from different medical imaging resources. The primary objectives of this approach in disease classification are to reduce the error rate and increase the number of retrieved features. The aim of this study is to evaluate the outcomes associated with fusing visual features related to left and right eye cataract characteristics. Additionally, we investigate the impact of limited variability in deep learning models, specifically in the classification of cataract fundus versus normal fundus images. To address this issue, this study introduces CataractNetDetect, an innovative multi-label deep learning classification system that fuses feature representations from pairs of fundus images (e.g., left and right eyes) for the automatic diagnosis of various ocular disorders. Our focus is on achieving improved performance by stacking discriminative deep feature representations to combine two fundus images into a unified feature representation. Several deep learning architectures are utilized as feature descriptors, including ResNet-50, DenseNet-121, and Inception-V3, enhancing the resilience and quality of representations. Fine-tuning of these DL architectures is conducted using the ImageNet dataset, followed by an integrated stacking approach combining ResNet-50, DenseNet-121, and Inception-V3 models. The proposed study focuses on the critical issue of corrosion,which leads to significant economic losses and safety risks worldwide.A key area of emphasis is the accuracy of corrosion detection *** recent studies have made progress,a common challenge is the low accuracy of existing detection *** models often struggle to reliably identify corrosion tendencies,which are crucial for minimizing industrial risks and optimizing resource *** proposed study introduces an innovative approach that significantly improves the accuracy of corrosion detection using a convolutional neural network(CNN),as well as two pretrained models,namely YOLOv8 and *** leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies,we have achieved high accuracies in identifying and managing the hazards associated with corrosion across various industrial *** advancement not only supports the overarching goals of enhancing safety and efficiency,but also sets a new benchmark for future research in the *** results demonstrate a significant improvement in the ability to detect and mitigate corrosion-related concerns,providing a more accurate and comprehensive solution for industries facing these *** CNN and EfficientNetB0 exhibited 100%accuracy,precision,recall,and F1-score,followed by YOLOv8 with respective metrics of 95%,100%,90%,and 94.74%.Our approach outperformed state-of-the-art with similar datasets and methodologies.

Considering the carbon footprint of rapidly evolving quantum systems and technologies, it is essential to develop energy efficient and sustainable next generation quantum communication systems. Simultaneous Lightwave information and Power Transfer (SLIPT) enables the transfer of power and information from a transmitter to a receiver through light waves in the infrared (IR) and visible portions of the electro-magnetic spectrum. In this work, the authors propose QKD-featured, SLIPT-enabled (QuIPT) quantum communication hybrid receiver architectures. Specifically, the authors present simplified green QKD receiver architectures integrating free space QKD and SLIPT. The proposed system is useful for developing QKD-featured autonomous quantum Internet of Light Things (QIoLT). The simplified architecture comprises two key modules: the QKD-decryption and decoding module and the energy harvesting subsystem module. Finally, the authors present additional remarks on extending the architectures to include radio frequency based energy harvesting (RFbEH) modules for superior performance. © 2024 IEEE.
