The plants and trees are either utilized partially or wholly as a source of food and for its medicinal value. A wide variety of plants, trees and its parts are used from an ancient time due to its pharmaceutical and health-beneficial properties. In this perspective, the palmyra tree has its own cultural, nutritional and medicinal value of its own. The different parts of palmyra tree like roots, stem, flower, fruit, sprout, spadix, seed embryo are potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-diabetic, anti-diuretic activity due to the presence of various bioactive compounds. This review article mainly focused on the nutritional and pharmacological properties, as well as the health benefits of the palmyra tree (Borassus flabellifer). Different parts of the palmyra tree exhibit unique medicinal value. This review outlines the pharmacological and health benefits of palmyra tree (Borassus flabellifer) especially in treating stomach and lung disorders, skin inflammations and other associated ailments. This review also highlights the possible inhibitory action of different parts of palmyra against harmful microbes and other disease-causing agents. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.

The system is provided with humanized user interface and the function of facial recognition, which was completed through the cooperation with the department of Special Education. In order to design and produce Jacky, this system (Figure 3), by ourselves, we actually found out the situation and needs of children with special education. The main function of Jacky (intelligent robot) is to track the face of subject target and then rating how much the subject pay attention to class. we had already finished the commissioning of the system on 9 subject respectively belong to 4 elementary schools, and this research had won the first place of Bio-Medical Electronics Education Consortium 2016 competition. Hope that this research would provide positive effects to autistic children, and help special education teachers on teaching further.

With the help of a case study, the article has explored current practices of implementation of governmental affordable housing programme for urban poor in a slum of India. This work shows that the issues associated with the problems of governmental affordable housing programme has to be addressed to with a suitable methodology as complexities are not only dealing with quantitative data but qualitative data also. The Hard System Methodologies (HSM), which is conventionally applied to address the issues, deals with real and known problems which can be directly solved. Since most of the issues of affordable housing programme as found in the case study are subjective and complex in nature, Soft System Methodology (SSM) has been tried for better representation from subjective points of views. The article explored drawing of Rich Picture as an SSM approach for better understanding and analysing complex issues and constraints of affordable housing programme so that further exploration of the issues is possible. © 2016, The Institution of Engineers (India).

This article first builds an evaluation index system for the attractiveness of scientific and technological talents based on the analysis and summary of existing research and related theories at home and abroad. Secondly, this article takes the Chengdu-Chongqing area double-city economic circle as an example, briefly analyzes its talent status, and after collecting and sorting out the statistical data of related indicators, it uses factor analysis and entropy method to comprehensively analyze its talent attraction. The empirical evaluation gives a comprehensive evaluation of the attractiveness of science and technology talents in the Chengdu-Chongqing Double-city Economic Circle and the specific sub-item comparative evaluation results of each city. Finally, based on the evaluation results, it puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to improve the attractiveness of talents [1]. © 2022 IEEE.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of online (web-based) creative problem-solving (CPS) activities on student technological creativity and to examine the characteristics of student creativity in the context of online CPS. A pretest-posttest quasi-experiment was conducted with 107 fourth-grade students in Taiwan. The quantitative analysis revealed that the technological creativity of the online-CPS students was better than that of the traditional group. It was evident that students in the online-CPS groups were better at analytic than at synthetic thinking. Metaphor and analogy were used to produce new ideas most frequently. In addition to generating ideas by themselves, students arrived at solutions by refining and adapting others' thoughts with little discussion or interaction on the web. Consideration of the feasibility of production was the most important factor in the technological creativity of students.

We have developed a novel composite filler with Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) : poly(styrenesulfonic acid) (PEDOT:PSS), a biocompatible organic conductive polymer, adsorbed on carbon particles for biological electrodes. This composite filler enables to fabricate high-performance biological electrodes simply by adding it to resin in the same way as conventional conductive fillers. The fabricated electrodes achieve ion exchange properties similar to those of PEDOT:PSS polymers and therefore low skin and electrode contact impedance. Electroencephalogram (EEG) measurements show that these electrodes capture various brain activities and exhibit high correlation (≥ 0.9) to commercially available wet and AgCl electrodes. Additionally, each electrode can be molded into various shapes and structures while retaining its electrode characteristics. Therefore, the proposed electrode is promising for EEG measurement, which requires high comfort and signal quality.

In this paper, HR roles of nursing line manager towards effective workplace learning in Malaysia are discussed. Numerous researches had examined the devolving of the HR roles in various perspectives and general roles of line managers in nursing. However, less study has been paid specific to the HR roles of nursing line manager towards effective workplace learning, especially in the context of Malaysian public hospitals. This paper argues that line managers play a vital role in the development of their employees. In Malaysian healthcare services, where Malaysian nursing shortage is critical, it is essential that nursing line managers play pertinent roles in the development of their nurses learning. In this paper, the researchers integrate HR Business Partnership Model by Conner and Ulrich into HR roles of nursing line managers in Malaysian public hospitals. In particular, this paper attempts to explore the level of nursing line managers’ involvement in HR roles in relation to strategic partner, change agent, administrative expert, and employee champion roles. Several prepositions are highlighted and developed.

The Impact of Learning and development Initiatives on the Retention of Engineers in Malaysian Firms

The study sets out to explore the role of L&D (organizational and individual) factors within engineering firms, based on the social exchange theory, a popular framework about psychological contract and maintenance of the employee- employer relationship. Testing these concepts with Malaysian engineers and managers, the current research will explore the extent to which organizations provide effective learning and development initiatives that counter commitment by creating a sense of obligation through professional growth. The notion of psychological contract will be used to conceptualize engineers’ intention to stay and is seen as mediating the relationship between learning and development opportunities and engineers’ intention to stay. Ten (10) manufacturing companies will be invited to fill up the questionnaire. These questions offer the possibility for identifying L&D factors which will influence the retention of Malaysian's engineers, as well as the influence of psychological contract on this relationship. Based on these results, it would be possible to identify the challenges of employee retention and the mismatch between L&D professionals and retention strategies, with engineer's needs, wants, and expectations (psychological contract) in relation to their retention.

Worldwide, locust outbreaks frequently impact large areas of land and millions of people. Remote sensing has emerged as one of the most essential data sources for effectively identifying and assessing damaged crops and its yields. This study assesses crop damage caused by the 2019–20 upsurge of the desert locust in several Indian states using multisource satellite data (MODIS, VIIRS, and Sentinel-2). The cropland covers approximately 74% of the study area, with Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh having more than 89% of their land dedicated to agriculture. During the locust upsurge from May to July 2020, about 48,669 km 2 of crop area (4.6%) was damaged in India. Maharashtra was the hardest hit, with over 10% of its cropland affected. Madhya Pradesh saw 4–6.75% of damage, while Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat each experienced around 3–5% crop loss. The analysis found that Leaf Area Index (LAI) data provided more accurate damage estimates than the Fraction of Photosynthetically Active Radiation (FPAR), which often included non-damaged areas. High-risk zones were identified in Eastern Maharashtra, Central Madhya Pradesh, and Central and Southern Uttar Pradesh leading to loss of Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) up to 100 g C/m 2 and crop yields by 500 kg/ha. These identified areas need targeted locust control measures to protect crop losses, supporting food security and sustainability.
