The relation of college students' process of study and creativity: The mediating effect of creative self-efficacy

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among students' process of study, creative self-efficacy and creativity while attending college. A total of 60 students enrolled in Hsiuping Institute of technology in central Taiwan were selected as samples for the study. The instruments for this study included three questionnaires to explore the aforesaid aspects. This researchers tested creative self-efficacy and process of study, and creativity with Pearson correlation and hierarchical regression analyses. The major findings of this research are (1) the process of study had direct positive predictability on creativity, and (2) the relationship between process of study and creativity is partially mediated by creative self-efficacy.

Community engagement is given much importance nowadays in Malaysia, especially in line with Institutes of Higher Learning's tripartite mission, the third mission being able to engage with communities. It is not surprising because community engagement offers enormous benefits for regional and societal development. Community engagement relies heavily on partnership and mutual reciprocity between different stakeholders such as communities, universities, non-government organizations (NGOs), field experts and funding organizations. In order to sustain the engagement initiatives, it is important to know who are the ‘owners’ or stakeholders of the program. The current gap on community engagement is on evaluation and measurement of the impacts towards the stakeholders, mainly the community that are being engaged with. This paper addresses the gap by providing a discussion on the stakeholder approach on evaluation of community engagement initiatives. The evaluation using the stakeholders approach will not only create a holistic evaluation process, but it will also assist in fostering a sense of ownership of the community engagement program.

This paper describes the variables of job characteristics, work commitments and job satisfaction. We studied 400 Thai employees in Taiwan. AB people are moderators, and that Type A people are easily irritated, highly competitive, and are always in a hurry. Job characteristics do not affect job satisfaction, but work commitments affect job satisfaction.

As the Internet has been growing, WWW(World Wide Web) based services have become more popular, and the number of those using the service has increased excessively. To support these services, the processing of many transactions has become essential in the Internet. There are many researches regarding user profiling on web services to support those transactions effectively. Most of them are just for grasping the customer's preferences. However, the user's role on a recent web service is not limited. It is not fixed what they are doing among users; consumers could become providers and also providers could become consumers on virtual online environments such as the open market of the Internet. For this reason, it is necessary to inspect preference of both the consumer as well as the provider. In addition, the traditional service lacks of representing of various provider's preferences. In this paper, we proposed a Personal Preference Tree (PPT) to reflect the preferences for providers then implemented the module applied to the web service. Likewise, we evaluated the applicability and the performance of the personal preference module through simulations.

Spreading marine dead zones (or hypoxia) are threatening coastal ecosystems and affecting billions of people's livelihoods globally. However, the lack of field observations makes it challenging to estimate dead zones with spatial precision and across large scales. While satellites offer great potential for detecting environmental changes through large-scale and temporal consistent data, they have yet to be fully integrated into the spatio-temporal dynamic mapping of hypoxia. To address this limitation, we integrated satellite imagery with field observations in random forest models on the Google Earth Engine platform to characterize dead zone dynamics from 2000 to 2019. We applied the workflow to the Gulf of Mexico, which has the largest dead zones in North America. Our model explained 64 % (± 5 %) of the variance in predicting dead zones using satellite data. The analysis revealed that dead zones in the Gulf peaked in 2009 (17,699 ± 679 km2) and contracted afterward in terms of both size and persistence (% days with hypoxia). Despite this contraction, the average size between 2010 and 2019 was twice that of the coastal reduction goal (2) set by the Gulf of Mexico Hypoxia Task Force. Furthermore, dead zones occurred more frequently in the western Gulf, and nearly half of the western region experienced dead zones annually. In addition to inter-annual changes, our analysis highlighted the intra-annual dynamics of this phenomenon. Notably, dead zones expanded in June, peaking in size from mid-August to early September. The high temporal and spatial resolution of this dataset allows policymakers to develop targeted management plans and environmental policies. Our approach, which incorporates remote sensing for long-term monitoring of coastal dead zones, can be applied to worldwide monitoring initiatives when paired with local field observations. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

This study focuses on the issue of how kanji learners mentally "deconstruct" a kanji as they view it and how they may update this visual deconstruction over time as they learn kanji. The research problem deals with the question of whether or not an innovative kanji learning approach, the "Learner's Visualization (LV) Approach", assists learners in significantly updating their personal kanji deconstruction visualization (which refers to how the learner visually divides a given kanji into smaller, manageable parts). With the LV Approach, in contrast to other kanji learning approaches, kanji learners themselves decide which way to divide a kanji into smaller parts, allowing them to thus choose the complexity level and number of parts of that particular kanji according to their personal visual cognition. To support the analysis of the kanji visualization process, we developed a kanji learning support system based on the LV Approach. The analysis of our results proves the existence of the positive effect of using this novel approach in kanji learning;learners progressively move towards visually dividing kanji into fewer and fewer blocks. ©2009 IEEE.

Nowadays, all successful corporations consider Information technology as the main part of their success and as a cooperator in their strategy. They use information technology to add value to their organization more and more. Achieving the maximum level of value requires the involvement of business that Val IT framework can facilitate it. For this reason, enterprises must be familiar with Val IT framework and be able to utilize it. This study tries to explain the concept of Information technology (IT) governance and the necessity of using Val IT framework between current standards and frameworks. Employee engagement mainly consists of three dimensions, namely emotional engagement, cognitive engagement and physical engagement. The aim of the current research was to determine whether a leadership initiative such as a leadership orientation workshop had a positive influence on the engagement of engineers at a gold mining plant in South Africa. A qualitative research method was utilized by conducting group interviews with engineers. Six focus group interviews with engineers from the plant were conducted. The interviews were recorded and transcribed. The narrative data was broken down into smaller units, coded and named according to the content represented. The recurring themes were then categorized and described. Categories such as bottom-up leadership, transformational leadership, charismatic leadership, authentic leadership, change leadership, mind-set training, values, strategic alignment, two-way feedback, recognition, trust, diversity, safety, relationships, job profiles, performance management and career development were identified. The charismatic leadership style of the plant manager and his commitment to engaging the engineers were strong themes throughout the research. The importance of enabling managers to become leaders was also clear. The overall perceptions were that the leadership workshop initiated employee engagement amongst the engineers.

ABSTRACTABSTRACTIn this study, a peer assessment-based mobile learning approach was implemented and evaluated in a vocational design certification course. A quasi-experiment was conducted to explore the impact of the proposed approach on the learning achievements and motivations of the students with active and reflective styles. It was found that the students using the peer assessment-based mobile learning approach generally learned better than those using the conventional mobile learning approach. It was also found that there were interactive effects between learning approaches and learning styles on intrinsic motivation. The students with an active learning style outperformed those with a reflective style in intrinsic motivation when conducting the peer assessment-based mobile learning. Active learning style students also had higher extrinsic motivation than those with a reflective learning style when conducting mobile learning.

Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) across the globe have been the major victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has plunged the business world into a crisis. However, employee engagement (EE) has been labeled as an essential nutrient that organizations need in order to survive in these turbulent times. This study was to investigate the effect of EE on employee performance during the COVID-19 pandemic and how job demands and job resources moderate this relationship. A sample size of 395 respondents were selected from a variety of MSMEs via a convenience sampling method. The study used a survey questionnaire approach as the main method for collecting primary data. The result of the correlation analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between EE and employee performance. It was revealed that job demands and job resources moderated the relationship between EE and employee performance. Finally, the result showed that job demands had an insignificant effect on EE, but job resources had a significant effect on EE. Thus, it can be concluded that, in the face of COVID-19, EE is a significant predictor of EP in the MSME sector.
