The main purpose of this study is to explore the effects of college students' learning achievement by designing experiment of Weblog Cooperation-Competition Learning theory in Image Processing course. For the fulfillment of this research, the study employed the literature review and the quasi- experiment research. First, we explored the related literature to construct cooperation-competition learning. Then, we developed a teaching model on the blog. After the experiment was implemented, the data was collected by the test, questionnaire and certification exam. We use Ancova as the data analysis method, and try to control the covariate variables. The final results of this study were as follows: 1. The Weblog Cooperation-Competition Learning has positive effective in the promotion of student's learning achievement. 2. The Weblog Cooperation-Competition Learning has positive effective in the promotion of student's Certification exam achievement.

“Never the same again”: A descriptive qualitative inquiry into postpartum experiences of first-time mothers in the Oti Region of Ghana

Background: The postpartum period is a crucial yet often neglected stage of childbirth in Ghana. Cultural expectations and societal norms often lead some women—especially first-time mothers with no prior experience—to focus more on childbirth as a significant life event, while their postpartum well-being remains overlooked. However, childbirth often brings physical, emotional, social, and psychological changes that need to be carefully managed for the greater well-being of the mother and child. Aim: This study investigates the postpartum experiences of first-time mothers in the Oti Region of Ghana with the Biopsychosocial Model as its theoretical foundation. Methods: Achored on qualitative methods, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 25 first-time mothers to explore themes such as physical health challenges, psychological distress, and social support during postpartum. Findings: Diverse postpartum experiences were established among the first-time mothers, which highlight the pivotal roles of spousal, familial, and healthcare support in shaping maternal well-being during this critical post-childbirth period. Specifically, these supportive resources helped these first-time mothers through physical health, psychological, emotional, neurological, and sensory issues. However, these social support systems were uneven, thereby creating differential postpartum experiences. Conclusion: Our findings highlight the need for policy and interventions to enhance comprehensive access to postpartum care, address healthcare delivery gaps, and promote culturally sensitive maternal health services. Healthcare providers must therefore adopt holistic care strategies that covers the physical, emotional, and social dimensions of postpartum health. These should include follow-ups, mental health screenings, and personalized postpartum education, and care. In recent years, the Internet Celebrities (ICs) have emerged as the most influential factor on adolescents. Although ICs are simply other users uploading their user-generated content (UGC), they attract followers through their unique combination of similarity, sociability, and a sense of being different from the audience. While ICs were widely discussed in fields like marketing and youth culture, few researches studied their education value. Our study utilize Uses and Gratifications Theory to extract students’ perceptive motivation to learn from ICs’ videos. We surveyed 101 high school students about their motivations to use ICs’ video to learn enterprise finance. These students considered Entertainment, Convenience, and Information were major gratifications they would get by learning from ICs’ videos. We also found past experience with ICs’ videos did influence student’s perceptive Escapism gratification. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Engineering design ability is critical in today’s society due to the vast development of technology. However, the development of it is not easy. The introduction of STEM (Science-technology-Engineering-Math) and the utilization of PBL (Project-based Learning) seem to promise a bright future in the development of such ability. We adopted Atman’s Engineering Design Process to evaluate the progress that students made after learning from a project-based Truss Tower STEM course. Students were grouped in six to design and construct a light-weight water tower type truss structure that can withstand severe earthquake. 137 students participated in this course and took pre-test as well as post-test. Students demonstrated significant progress in Developing Alternative Solutions and Project Realization. However, students did not show significant progress in Problem Scoping. Our research result echoes earlier research that some of engineering abilities might be trainable in classroom while other abilities might need other development methods. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The purpose of the study was to explore the direct effects of vocational students’ study stress and social support on physical and mental health as well as to evaluate the moderating role of social support between study stress and physical and mental health. Data was collected from 232 vocational Data Processing department students in Taiwan and was analyzed using hierarchical regression. The results show that vocational students’ study stress had a negative effect on physical and mental health, and parental support had positive influences on physical and mental health. In addition to the direct effect, partial support for teachers’ support can reduce the negative impact of academic stress on physical health. Partial support for classmate support can reduce the negative impact of academic stress on mental and physical health. Through these empirical findings, practical implications and suggestions for further research were discussed. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Purpose This paper aims to describe how Birla creates a strong pipeline of people who are ready to lead the organization in the future. Design/methodology/approach It explains the origins of the group’s global-manufacturing leadership program (GMLP), the form it takes and the results it has achieved. Findings It reveals that the program aims to shape the manufacturing leaders of tomorrow through exposing them to world-class technologies and processes, state-of-the-art research and continuous learning and development opportunities. Practical implications It reveals that of the five GMLP candidates recruited in 2011, three have become independent unit heads, one in China and two in India. Social implications It outlines the company belief that retaining and developing the skills of its existing workforce is at least as important as importing new talent when faced with increasing competition and growing pressure to cut costs in its main markets. Originality/value It demonstrates that the program is designed to ensure that each participant is able to understand and anticipate customer needs, influence colleagues without too openly expressing authority and develop and communicate the company’s long-term vision.

Mobile device provides high portability, information accessibility, and usability beyond the limitation of time and space. The use of eBook in education has many pros and cons, until now, there's still no specific pedagogical approach for instructors to incorporate in their daily work. This study points out the importance of self-assessment mechanism for school administrative staff, instructors, technical support staff when implementing eBooks in educational settings, especially at k-12 level. A four-dimension comprehensive eBook implementation readiness guide is developed in this study. The purpose of the readiness guide is for the institutions to self-diagnose the preparation level in the process of introducing eBooks. © 2011 IADIS.

Purpose This paper aims to describe the main human resource management policies at Ethan Power Private Ltd, an Indian design, sales and manufacturing company, and the specific circumstances that led it to become a learning organization. Design/methodology/approach This paper outlines the company’s origins and growth and its policies in such areas as recruitment, induction, training, remuneration, performance management and industrial relations. Findings This paper reveals that learning organization concepts have stimulated debate in the business, and there is growing acceptance of self-managed development, empowerment and creativity. Practical implications This paper explains that there is much more evidence in the company of effective teamwork and the principles of total quality management, while HR specialists are encouraging the processes of reflection and self-improvement that lie at the heart of organizational improvement. Social implications This paper reveals that, in general, and while fully complying with industrial-relations legislation, the company prefers to employ people who are not members of a trade union. Originality/value This paper details the factors that led an Indian organization to change its organizational culture and how this change was achieved.

The importance and use of targeted content knowledge in educational simulation games

While most current educational simulation games provide learners with gameplay experience, there is often a lack of focus on ensuring that desired content knowledge is learned. Students may focus on completing game activities without learning the targeted content knowledge, thus negating desired learning outcomes. We argue that to help students achieve higher learning performance, targeted content knowledge should be a specific focus in educational games. Thus, the present study explores the effects and usage of providing targeted content scaffolds in various ways as a step to understanding optimal placement and tasks for such scaffolds within games. Results suggest that providing targeted content scaffolds in educational simulation games helps students achieve higher learning performance, and that students should read the content scaffolds both before and during gameplay. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

Effects of caring climate on career commitment for preschool teachers: the mediating roles of interpersonal trust and cooperative learning

Preschool teachers in Taiwan face pedagogical and emotionalchallenges that shape their job satisfaction, commitment, and socialidentity. Understanding their views on professional developmentand organizational commitment in early childhood education is critical. This study aims to examine the relationship between caring climate and career commitment and test the multiple mediating effects of interpersonal trust and cooperative learning in this relationship. A survey was conducted in Taiwan to test preschool teachers’ attitudes toward career commitment and other related factors. The questionnaire consisted of four latent factors: caring climate, career commitment, interpersonal trust and cooperative learning. We used partial least squares to analyze the sample data and examine the reliability and validity in the multiple mediation model. The results of the multiple mediating analysis indicated that interpersonal trust and cooperative learning fully positively mediated the association between caring climate and career commitment. Preschool teachers’ career commitment is influenced by their perceptions of caring climate in workplaces. Their positive attitudes toward kind interactions and teamwork with colleagues in preschools actively support sustainable development of their career paths. © 2024 TACTYC.
