This paper describes a new approach on optimization of constraint satisfaction problems (CSPs) by means of substituting sub-CSPs with locally consistent regular membership constraints. The purpose of this approach is to reduce the number of fails in the resolution process, to improve the inferences made during search by the constraint solver by strengthening constraint propagation, and to maintain the level of propagation while reducing the cost of propagating the constraints. Our experimental results show improvements in terms of the resolution speed compared to the original CSPs and a competitiveness to the recent tabulation approach [1, 15]. Besides, our approach can be realized in a preprocessing step, and therefore wouldn’t collide with redundancy constraints or parallel computing if implemented. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Modeling of Memory Dependent Derivative Under Three-Phase Lag in Generalized Thermo-Viscoelasticity

In this study, a new generalized model of thermo-viscoelasticity with three phase-lag (TPL) theory concerning memory-dependent derivative (MDD) theory is emphasized. The governing combined equations of the novel model associated with kernel function and time delay are considered in a two-dimensional semi-infinite space. The bounding surface of the medium is assumed to be free of traction and subjected to time-dependent thermal loading. Using Laplace and Fourier Transform techniques, the problem is transformed from the space–time domain and then solved numerically. Suitable numerical technique is used to find the inversion of Fourier and Laplace transforms. In the simulation, the effects of the time-delay parameter and kernel function on the distributions of the displacement components, stresses and temperature field are studied and represented graphically. The results shows that the presence of TPL, the time-delay and kernel function extensively affect all the distributions. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature India Private Limited.

The goal of this paper is to analyze and propose a reconstruction of functional possibilities and database requirements of a Web based Educational Information system. For the research the Information system of the technology School ＂electronic Systems＂（TUES） associated with the Technical University of Sofia is on focus. The modules for admission of students, specialty classification, and graduation of students, management of the student＇s work in computer classrooms and lecturers＇ data management have been analyzed, developed and implemented. The additionally developed modules concern mainly the management of educational process and do not affect the e-learning or the official part modules. That led to the idea that the functionality for managing educational process has to be organized in a separate module defined as module for administrative services of educational process. Such restructuring of the system will bring flexibility in further growth of the system--for example students＇ admission or selection for different purposes.

Dynamics of a predator-prey model with stage-structure on both species and anti-predator behavior

In this paper, we have formulated and studied a stage-structure predator-prey model. Here, we consider stage-structure on both prey as well as predator population which means that the prey population is divided into two sub populations such as juvenile prey and adult prey, on the other hand, the predator population is also divided into two sub populations such as juvenile predator and adult predator. It is assumed that only adult predator have the ability to predation and they consume both juvenile prey as well as adult prey. Here, it is also considered that the growth rate of juvenile prey depends upon the adult prey population i.e., the juvenile prey has no reproduction capability. Also, Holling II and Holling IV response function have been used for the consumption of juvenile prey and adult prey by adult predator respectively. It is also considered two types of factors such as anti-predator behavior and group defense to formulate our proposed model. Mathematically, we have analyzed the positivity and boundedness of solutions, existence of equilibria, stability of the proposed system around these equilibrium points and Hopf bifurcation of interior equilibrium point. Finally, some numerical simulations have been presented to validate our theoretical results. © 2017

This paper presents a new approach to predict the quality of polypropylene in petrochemical plants. The proposed approach constructs four different models, based on a large number of data collected from a renowned petrochemical plant in India and uses it to predict the polypropylene quality. The quality of polypropylene depends on the indices such as melt flow index and the xylene solubility of the product and the parameters controlling these two indices are hydrogen flow, donor flow, pressure and temperature of polymerization reactors. Mamdani Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic inference systems are formed for first time. The model outcomes are compared with the collected plant data and a sequence of sensitivity analysis elects the most suitable model from them. Some sensitivity analyses are provided using Fuzzy C-Means Clustering to the models. © 2015 The Authors

Maintainability, extendibility and reusability of components in the design of robot control architectures is a major challenge. Parallel kinematic robots feature a wide variety of structures and applications. They are subject to easy reconfiguration because of the passive structure limbs. This class of robots requires more extensive calculations in their control laws than serial manipulators. During complex motion tasks, such as the ones required in assembly sequences, the algorithmic load may also vary over time. However, no generic control approach exists in order to reduce the complexity of control design for these kind of robots. In this paper the authors introduce an architecture for handling and assembly applications featuring self-management techniques as an approach to tackle these problems. The existing architecture features a modular and layered design. Concepts of self-management and self-optimization applied to this architecture are outlined. These properties are realized by the integration of self-managers within crucial system components. The mechanisms are extended for a future distributed version of the architecture. Real-time properties are guaranteed by an online formal analysis that verifies planned adaptations before realizing them. Copyright © 2008 by ASME.

This paper aims to develop a sensor based monitoring and analyzing system for Neuro-Degenerative Disorder patients (NDD);this may consist on SpO2 sensor, Electrophysiological sensors, NIBP, Motion Capture sensors and Eye Monitoring sensor, taking into consideration an acceptable cost for the whole system. Recorded data will be sent to an embedded decision making unit where detection, analysis, classification, prediction and action control will occur. The sensors and the decision making unit will be implemented in a comfortable jacket that doesn't affect the patients' movements and that can be used by several patients with reduced sensor placement alterations. The decision that can be made is creating a stimulus to avoid falling in case of sudden stop while moving, initiating an alarm, sending a notification to a mobile phone application, and/or telemedicine monitoring features. Artificial Neural Networks will be used to classify and predict the abnormal cases where action should be taken, and since the sensors will be continuously recording, it is possible to achieve continuous learning for the ANN as a first phase. Initial models will be defined by testing normal behaviors and some known abnormal behaviors or symptoms related to the electrical activity and other characteristics of the heart, oxygen saturation level, eye activity and body motion. © 2016 IEEE.

There are many benefits to participating in multi-campus collaborations among project-based design teams. First, students gain experience in working in a distributed design environment, which is becoming more commonplace in engineering practice. Second, collaborations offer the ability to share complementary expertise and allow student design teams to participate in projects that they would not normally be able to undertake alone. Third, collaboration among teams of multiple campuses allows for sharing of prior work and the opportunity to build upon the work to have a more significant impact. There are, however, challenges to participating in multi-campus collaborations. It is difficult for student teams to partition projects such that they can be done somewhat independently. Communication issues can be complicated by distance and the lack of face-to-face contact on a regular basis. The EPICS - Engineering Projects in Community Service - program engages undergraduate student design teams on long-term projects that solve technology-based problems for local community service organizations. There are sixteen universities with active EPICS programs in the 2005-2006 academic year. While the programs have some variation as EPICS has been integrated into each individual campus, they share basic characteristics. The existence of EPICS programs on multiple campuses has created the opportunity to collaborate across institutions. This paper will describe three models for multi-campus collaboration that have been used in EPICS. © American Society for Engineering Education, 2006.

An L(0,1)-labelling of a graph G is an assignment of nonnegative integers to the vertices of G such that the difference between the labels assigned to any two adjacent vertices is at least zero and the difference between the labels assigned to any two vertices which are at distance two is at least one. The span of an L(0,1)-labelling is the maximum label number assigned to any vertex of G. The L(0,1)-labelling number of a graph G, denoted by λ_0.1(G) is the least integer k such that G has an L(0,1)-labelling of span k. This labelling has an application to a computer code assignment problem. The task is to assign integer control codes to a network of computer stations with distance restrictions. A cactus graph is a connected graph in which every block is either an edge or a cycle. In this paper, we label the vertices of a cactus graph by L(0,1)-labelling and have shown that, △-1≤λ_0.1(G)≤△ for a cactus graph, where △ is the degree of the graph G.

Data poisoning attacks, where adversaries manipulate training data to degrade model performance, are an emerging threat as machine learning becomes widely deployed in sensitive applications. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of data poisoning including attack techniques, adversary incentives, impacts on security and reliability, detection methods, defenses, and key research gaps. We examine label flipping, instance injection, backdoors, and other attack categories that enable malicious outcomes ranging from IP theft to accidents in autonomous systems. Promising detection approaches include statistical tests, robust learning, and forensics. However, significant challenges remain in translating academic defenses like adversarial training and sanitization into practical tools ready for operational use. With safety and trustworthiness at stake, more research on benchmarking evaluations, adaptive attacks, fundamental tradeoffs, and real-world deployment of defenses is urgently needed. Understanding vulnerabilities and developing resilient machine learning pipelines will only grow in importance as data integrity is fundamental to developing safe artificial intelligence. © The Institution of Engineering & technology 2023.
