GAN-Based Federated Adversarial Learning for Enhancing Security Towards Consumer Digital Ecosystems

Federated Adversarial Learning (FAL) maintains the decentralization of adversarial training for data-driven innovations while allowing the collaborative training of a common model to protect privacy facilities. Before sharing with bigger global aggregation, it allows users to change settings locally over many iterations. However, a strong network against attackers in Industry 5.0 towards consumer digital ecosystems is a challenge for adversarial training methodologies. To solve this issue, a novel FAL-based Customized Inequality-Aware Federated Learning (CusIAFL) technique is proposed in this paper for classifying and securing color images. The proposed method reduces the instability brought on by the heterogeneity of the data and optimizes each data sample by understanding the client-label distribution. A unique Pix2Pix Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) algorithm is employed to generate realistic images in the presented research work, while a hybrid approach is used to guarantee consistency in the time series data. This innovative research work is evaluated on various non-medical, consumer electronic, and medical imagery. The experimental results have been evaluated using performance metrics, namely accuracy, entropy, Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), Hausdorff Distance (HD95), Structural Similarity Index (SSIM), and Mean Square Error (MSE). The results show that the proposed technique outperforms the existing models in terms of security. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

In the evolving landscape of surveillance and security applications, the task of person re-identification(re-ID) has significant importance, but also presents notable difficulties. This task entails the process of accurately matching and identifying persons across several camera views that do not overlap with one another. This is of utmost importance to video surveillance, public safety, and person-tracking applications. However, vision-related difficulties, such as variations in appearance, occlusions, viewpoint changes, cloth changes, scalability, limited robustness to environmental factors, and lack of generalizations, still hinder the development of reliable person re-ID methods. There are few approaches have been developed based on these difficulties relied on traditional deep-learning techniques. Nevertheless, recent advancements of transformer-based methods, have gained widespread adoption in various domains owing to their unique architectural properties. Recently, few transformer-based person re-ID methods have developed based on these difficulties and achieved good results. To develop reliable solutions for person re-ID, a comprehensive analysis of transformer-based methods is necessary. However, there are few studies that consider transformer-based techniques for further investigation. This review proposes recent literature on transformer-based approaches, examining their effectiveness, advantages, and potential challenges. This review is the first of its kind to provide insights into the revolutionary transformer-based methodologies used to tackle many obstacles in person re-ID, providing a forward-thinking outlook on current research and potentially guiding the creation of viable applications in real-world scenarios. Optimizing Image Retrieval in Cloud Servers with TN-AGW: A Secure and Efficient Approach

The increasing use of cloud-based image storage and retrieval systems has made ensuring security and efficiency crucial. The security enhancement of image retrieval and image archival in cloud computing has received considerable attention in transmitting data and ensuring data confidentiality among cloud servers and users. Various traditional image retrieval techniques regarding security have developed in recent years but they do not apply to large-scale environments. This paper introduces a new approach called Triple network-based adaptive grey wolf (TN-AGW) to address these challenges. The TN-AGW framework combines the adaptability of the Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm with the resilience of Triple Network (TN) to enhance image retrieval in cloud servers while maintaining robust security measures. By using adaptive mechanisms, TN-AGW dynamically adjusts its parameters to improve the efficiency of image retrieval processes, reducing latency and utilization of resources. However, the image retrieval process is efficiently performed by a triple network and the parameters employed in the network are optimized by Adaptive Grey Wolf (AGW) optimization. Imputation of missing values, Min–Max normalization, and Z-score standardization processes are used to preprocess the images. The image extraction process is undertaken by a modified convolutional neural network (MCNN) approach. Moreover, input images are taken from datasets such as the Landsat 8 dataset and the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) dataset is employed for image retrieval. Further, the performance such as accuracy, precision, recall, specificity, F1-score, and false alarm rate (FAR) is evaluated, the value of accuracy reaches 98.1%, the precision of 97.2%, recall of 96.1%, and specificity of 917.2% respectively. A survey on cross-user federated recommendation

Recommender systems are effective in mitigating information overload, yet the centralized storage of user data raises significant privacy concerns. Cross-user federated recommendation(CUFR) provides a promising distributed paradigm to address these concerns by enabling privacy-preserving recommendations directly on user devices. In this survey, we review and categorize current progress in CUFR, focusing on four key aspects: privacy, security, accuracy, and efficiency. Firstly,we conduct an in-depth privacy analysis, discuss various cases of privacy leakage, and then review recent methods for privacy protection. Secondly, we analyze security concerns and review recent methods for untargeted and targeted *** untargeted attack methods, we categorize them into data poisoning attack methods and parameter poisoning attack methods. For targeted attack methods, we categorize them into user-based methods and item-based methods. Thirdly,we provide an overview of the federated variants of some representative methods, and then review the recent methods for improving accuracy from two categories: data heterogeneity and high-order information. Fourthly, we review recent methods for improving training efficiency from two categories: client sampling and model compression. Finally, we conclude this survey and explore some potential future research topics in CUFR.

Lightweight and privacy-preserving device-to-device authentication to enable secure transitive communication in IoT-based smart healthcare systems

Internet of Things (IoT) devices are often directly authenticated by the gateways within the network. In complex and large systems, IoT devices may be connected to the gateway through another device in the network. In such a scenario, new device should be authenticated with the gateway through the intermediate device. To address this issue, an authentication process is proposed in this paper for IoT-enabled healthcare systems. This approach performs a privacy-preserving mutual authentication between the gateway and an IoT device through intermediate devices, which are already authenticated by the gateway. The proposed approach relies on the session key established during gateway-intermediate device authentication. To emphasizes lightweight and efficient system, the proposed approach employs lightweight cryptographic operations, such as XOR, concatenation, and hash functions within IoT networks. This approach goes beyond the traditional device-to-device authentication, allowing authentication to propagate across multiple devices or nodes in the network. The proposed work establishes a secure session between an authorized device and a gateway, preventing unauthorized devices from accessing healthcare systems. The security of the protocol is validated through a thorough analysis using the AVISPA tool, and its performance is evaluated against existing schemes, demonstrating significantly lower communication and computation costs. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

MBASE: Meta-heuristic Based optimized location allocation algorithm for baSE station in IoT assist wireless sensor networks

In an Internet of Things (IoT) assisted Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), the location of the Base Station (BS) remains important. BS serves as the central hub for data collection, aggregation and communication within the network. Its location significantly impacts the overall network performance and energy efficiency. However, the role and requirements of the BS may vary depending on the specific implementation and integration of IoT assist opportunistic routing protocol. Therefore, this work propose a Meta-heuristic Based optimized location Allocation algorithm for baSE station in IoT assist WSNs (MBASE). The MBASE algorithm is based on Forwarder Node (FN) selection and using meta-heuristic based opportunistic routing. The FN is selected by a decision-making approach based on meta-heuristic search strategies which offers viable options for local and global optimization problems. This work aims to find a way to achieve a trade-off in this algorithm for efficient and appropriate placement of BS either at the centre or outside of the network deployment zone. Both positions of BS are optimization problems in the design of WSNs/IoTs. MBASE algorithm is proposed for identifying the optimized location allocation for BS and is based on metaheuristic. Simulation based analysis of essential operational and functional parameters such as Message Success Rate (MSR), Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Throughput, and Average energy consumption (AEC) is reported in the paper. Additionally, work compares BS locations using a common neighbourhood concept to assure fairness. Implementation of ANN and response surface method for dual-fuel CI engine optimization and prediction using water infusion and biofuel

In this study, tests were done to see what would happen if hydrogen (H2) and lemon grass oil (LO) were used for a lone-cylinder compression ignition engine as a partial diesel replacement. After starting the trial with pure diesel, the engine was modified to run on two fuels by adding H2 through the inlet pipe and LO as direct injection (DI) gasoline. In this study, the energy fraction of H2 ranged from 5 to 10%. A 3% volume mixture of water (W) and diesel-LO mixtures was used to study how NOX emissions were affected. Using a common back- transmission method, an Artificial Neural Network model was created to forecast the correlation between engine output reactions and input variables (load, LO, and H2). The goal of response surface methodology is for improve the motor input settings for low pollution and high heat efficiency. The trials were designed using response surface methodology (RSM), and the optimization procedure was conducted using RSM. An artificial neural network (ANN) was used to predict the test engine’s emission patterns and performance. The results showed that ANN and RSM were both very good and accurate modeling strategies. When 10% H2 + LO25 was used, the BTE rose to 31%, up from 20% for clean LO and 28% for 12% H2 + LO25 + 2%W means. Compared to clean LO operation, the cylinder pressure raised in 15% H2 mode by up to 63 psi. The measured value for the HRR, under H2 premixed combustion framework was 81 k Joule/CA deg in 10% H2, that is significantly greater than the value for every LO processes. The highest NOX release for 10% H2 + LO 25% was discovered at 690 ppm peak load, while it dropped to 645 ppm in gasoline that had been emulsified in water. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Low-light image enhancement using the illumination boost algorithm along with the SKWGIF method

Low-light image enhancement is highly desirable for outdoor image processing and computer vision applications. Research conducted in recent years has shown that images taken in low-light conditions often pose two main problems, the first of which is low visibility (i.e., small pixel intensities). Secondly, due to the low signal-to-noise ratio, noise also becomes prominent and obscures the image content. For this reason, images with low noise are usually employed in this application, a practice not possible in the real world. In this regard, a hybrid method is proposed which is based on the illumination boost algorithm (IBA) and weighted guided image filtering with steering kernel (SKWGIF). IBA is used to raise the values of low and medium intensity pixels while preventing excessive increases in high-value pixels. SKWGIF is employed to denoise and augment image details by adjusting its parameters based on the output of the previous step. The proposed method utilizes the LOL v1, LOL v2 and ExDark datasets Our hybrid method’s comprehensive approach to low-light image enhancement produced better outcomes than previous methods. Quantitative results have shown that the proposed model outperforms state-of-the-art (SOTA) models on the LOL v1 dataset, achieving a PSNR value of 18.80. Through the successful resolution of visibility and noise reduction issues, our approach led to notable gains in image quality measures, including SSIM, PSNR, BRISQUE, and NIQE. IBA’s ability to selectively boost intensity improved image visibility without producing overexposure artifacts, and SKWGIF effectively reduced noise while enhancing image details. The combined effect produced improved image quality that was superior to that of single techniques or already-used hybrid approaches. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.
