In this paper, we present a new modulation scheme based on polynomial phase signals (PPS) for non-orthogonal multiple-access (NOMA) transceivers. The PPS leading to outstanding spectral efficiency are exploited to modulate the signal of users in the NOMA system. The demodulation procedure is performed by High-Order Ambiguity Function (HAF)-based successive interference cancellation (SIC). The performance evaluation, such as bit error rate (BER) and peak-to-averagepower ratio (PAPR) analysis of our new NOMA technique, is also demonstrated in this paper. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed scheme has the capability to increase the BER performance while suppressing the peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR) compared to the traditional OFDM-based NOMA system or other existing modulation schemes. © 2022 IEEE.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has enabled the adoption of automated aeroponics equipment, which has transformed our understanding of horticulture. Aeroponics is a method of vegetative production that does not use soil. Plant cultivation takes place in an airborne or vapour environment. The use of Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled aeroponics devices allows farms to autonomously monitor and manage variables such as temperature, lighting, humidity, and fertiliser concentrations. This allows for real-time adjustments to be made to optimize plant growth and yield. The IoT-enabled automated aeroponics system utilizes sensors and actuators to collect data on environmental conditions and automate the delivery of nutrients and water to the plants. Additionally, the system can be programmed to send alerts and notifications to farmers in case of any irregularities or issues that require attention. This level of automation not only increases efficiency and productivity but also reduces the need for manual labor and minimizes resource wastage. The IoT-enabled automated aeroponics systems have the potential to revolutionize farming by providing a more sustainable and efficient method of crop production. The computer system uses environmental elements to evaluate the results of aeroponics studies. The decision was made to use an automated aeroponics methodology to develop maize plants. According to the findings of this study, applying this method could potentially reduce labour expenses while increasing the value of the product. © 2024 IEEE.

In this manuscript, the performance of an ultracapacitor fuel cell in grid connected mode is investigated. Voltage regulation to the ultracapacitor was achieved with a three level bidirectional DC-DC converter while also achieving power flow from the grid to the ultra-capacitor via the bidirectional converter. The choice of a bidirectional three level converter for voltage regulation is based on its inherently high efficiency, low harmonic profile and compact size. Using the model equations of the converter and grid connected inverter derived using the switching function approach, the grid's direct and quadrature axes modulation indices, Md and Mq, respectively were simulated in Matlab for both lagging and leading power factors. Moreover, the values of Md and Mq were exploited in a PLECS based simulation of the proposed model to determine the effect of power factor correction on the current and power injection to grid. © 2022, CC BY.

A fundamental assumption in stochastic computing (SC) is that bit-streams are generally well-approximated by a Bernoulli process, i.e., a sequence of independent 0-1 choices. We show that this assumption is flawed in unexpected and significant ways for some bit-streams such as those produced by a typical LFSR-based stochastic number generator (SNG). In particular, the Bernoulli assumption leads to a surprising overestimation of output errors and how they vary with input changes. We then propose a more accurate model for such bit-streams based on the hypergeometric distribution and examine its implications for several SC applications. First, we explore the effect of correlation on a mux-based stochastic adder and show that, contrary to what was previously thought, it is not entirely correlation insensitive. Further, inspired by the hypergeometric model, we introduce a new mux tree adder that offers major area savings and accuracy improvement. The effectiveness of this study is validated on a large image processing circuit which achieves an accuracy improvement of 32%, combined with a reduction in overall circuit area.

The highly dynamic nature of cognitive radio (CR) systems and their stringent latency requirements pose a major challenge in the realization of efficient intelligent transport systems (ITS). In this paper, we investigate relay selection and opportunistic spectrum access in conjunction with blockchain technology in a secure manner. Specifically, we propose a cross-layer method for secure relay selection, where secondary relays (SRs) are granted access to available spectrum bands based on the balance of their respective virtual wallets. These virtual wallets, which are built based on the SRs’ secrecy capacity and their behavior in the network, are the predominant factors that allow SRs to participate in an auction model. To quantify the trustworthiness of the SRs, we formulate a mathematical framework to evaluate the trust value of each SR, which is then leveraged for rewarding or penalizing the SR. Furthermore, we develop an offline blockchain framework to store the information of participating relays and make it available for future operations, in order to detect reputable and non-reputable relays in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. The stored reputations of the participating relays are used to develop a self-learning algorithm to exclude the non-reputable relays from the selection group. Finally, we present thorough numerical results to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed system in terms of security, credibility, and integrity. © 2022, CC BY.

The rapidly increasing penetration of electric vehicles(EVs) in modern metropolises has been witnessed during the past decade, inspired by financial subsidies as well as public awareness of climate change and environment pro-tection. Integrating charging facilities, especially highpower chargers in fast charging stations, into power distribution systems remarkably alters the traditional load flow pattern, and thus imposes great challenges on the operation of distribution network in which controllable resources are rare. On the other hand, provided with appropriate incentives, the energy storage capability of electric vehicle offers a unique opportunity to facilitate the integration of distributed wind and solar power generation into power distribution system. The above trends call for thorough investigation and research on the interdependence between transportation system and power distribution system. This paper conducts a comprehensive survey on this line of research. The basic models of transportation system and power distribution system are introduced,especially the user equilibrium model, which describes the vehicular flow on each road segment and is not familiar to the readers in power system community. The modelling of interdependence across the two systems is *** into account such interdependence, applications ranging from long-term planning to short-term operation are reviewed with emphasis on comparing the description of traffic-power interdependence. Finally, an outlook of prospective directions and key technologies in future research is summarized.

Internet, power network, traffic network, etc. are network systems required high reliability, and independently, costs may occur for the construction or maintenance of links in the networks. In this study, we consider a bi-objective network with objectives of maximizing all-terminal reliabilities and minimizing costs. In general, these objectives are in trade-off relation, and cannot be optimized simultaneously. Therefore, solving the problem is to find the set of all Pareto solutions. On the other hand, the problem of evaluating all-terminal reliability of a given network is computationally intractable, which suggests that our bi-objective problem is computationally intractable as well. Hence, it is reasonable to switch our goal to find a set of quasi-Pareto solutions, i.e., a set of pairwise non-dominated "good" solutions in terms of our objectives. Our goal is achieved by developing a GA based algorithm which generates a set of quasi-Pareto solutions. In this paper, we improve previous GA-based algorithm such that obtained optimal solutions are closer to Pareto solutions. Proposed algorithm re-considers selection and crossover operations based on the distribution of Pareto solutions in the solution space. And then, the accuracy of our proposed algorithm is evaluated based on comparison of quasi-Pareto solutions to other algorithms. © 2019 International Society of Science and Applied Technologies.
