Road accidents cause serious injuries and deaths worldwide. The previous year's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Annual Report on Road Accidents in India showed that many road accidents were fatal. A large percentage of Indian deaths occur without rapid medical intervention or first assistance. Delays in reporting incidents to emergency services increased fatalities. A sophisticated method using deep learning and analytics to locate CCTV accidents, classify their severity, and speed up emergency response. Accident detection and analysis are efficient with cutting-edge technologies. The accident detection phase uses YOLOv7, a deep-learning object detection model, to evaluate CCTV footage in real time. A stratified K-fold deep neural network classifies accidents as major or minor based on collision severity. Real-time GPS tracking alerts ambulance drivers within three km of the accident using the mobile app. This expedites emergency response, lowering mortality by reducing the time between the accident and medical assistance.

Cultural Tourism (CT) is a significant element of today’s economy, accounting for around 37% of the total tourist industry and expanding at a pace of over 15% each year. This function and economic impact can benefit some EU and non-EU locations and areas with high cultural, social, and environmental potential. Other synergistic variables such as know-how, Information Communication Technologies (ICTs), gastronomy, identity, local culture, values, intangible legacy, or other characteristics also contribute to this influence. The work presented in this paper is part of the Social Innovation and TEchnologies for Sustainable Growth through Participative Cultural TOURism (TExTOUR) project, which brings together partners from the quintuple social innovation helix (knowledge, business, society, government, and entrepreneurs) to co-design, validate, and scale up policies and strategies that have a positive impact on socioeconomic territorial development based on cultural tourism. TExTOUR collaborates with eight CT Pilots in lesser-known destinations to develop collaborative work methodologies for developing CT strategies for local sites, utilizing ICTs and social innovation tools. The CT-Labs assist stakeholders in putting CT ad hoc strategies and action plans into action, monitoring them, and validating them. As a result, a technological platform (ICT tool) is presented in this paper, with its components outlined.

Both thermal and electromagnetic performance of substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) and microstrip line-fed shaped-beam arrays with slot and patch radiating elements are conducted. Three array types operating at 26 GHz band, namely SIW slot array, SIW array with patches, and proximity coupled patch array, are considered. The array performances regarding shaped radiation pattern stability with frequency and maximal temperature at the power amplifier chips are discussed. The study highlights intriguing trade-offs between radiation pattern performance and cooling ability in phased arrays.

This paper presents synthesis tools for the ROS 2 version of the Flexible Behavior Engine (FlexBE). Synthesis reduces the need for extensive testing and validation of hand crafted controllers by using mathematically precise specifications to generate “correct-by-construction” behavior controllers. Our approach builds upon work using the GR(1) (General Reactivity of rank 1) fragment of LTL to synthesize a reactive hierarchical finite state machine that can be directly executed in FlexBE. The presented work expands on previous ROS 1 tools, and extends them to ROS 2 in a way that supports more general specifications that incorporate environmental states. This paper presents an accessible open-source demonstration that serves as a general introduction to these powerful synthesis techniques.

The problem of the estimation of the information rate-distortion-perception function (RDPF), which is a relevant information-theoretic quantity in goal-oriented lossy compression and semantic information reconstruction, is investigated here. Specifically, we study the RDPF tradeoff for Gaussian sources subject to a mean-squared error (MSE) distortion and a perception measure that belongs to the family of α-divergences. Assuming a jointly Gaussian RDPF, which forms a convex optimization problem, we characterize an upper bound for which we find a parametric solution. We show that evaluating the optimal parameters of this parametric solution is equivalent to finding the roots of a reduced exponential polynomial of degree α. Additionally, we determine which disjoint sets contain each root, which enables us to evaluate them numerically using the well-known bisection method. Finally, we validate our analytical findings with numerical results and establish connections with existing results.
