Despite the developments in corrosion resistant alloys, carbon steel is the predominant material used in the construction industry. It is usually the most economic option, costing 3 to 5 times less than stainless steels. Yet corrosion resistance of carbon steel suffers in aggressive environments, and the cost savings can only be realized by adding a corrosion inhibitor or applying a protective coating to the steel. In the United States, with its vast infrastructure of concrete and steel bridges, superhighways, and reinforced concrete buildings, billions of dollars have been spent on corrosion protection. Among the commercial technologies available today, migrating corrosion inhibitors (MCIs) show versatility in their use as admixtures, surface treatments, and in rehabilitation programs. The effectiveness of a commercial admixture containing amine carboxylates and amino alcohols corrosion inhibitor on low and high density reinforced concrete was evaluated. Corrosion tests were conducted for 450 days on the partially immersed samples in 3.5% NaCl solution using AC electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The MCI treated concrete polarization resistance showed increasing trends during these tests, while untreated samples had declining trends. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and depth profiling confirmed that the inhibitor had reached the rebar surface after 120 days. Depth profiling showed a layer amine-rich compound on the rebar surface;this corresponded with the increase in the Rp values. These observations reinforced the proposed MCI mechanism that breakdown of amine carboxylates create charged molecules (amines) that move quickly toward embedded reinforcement to form a film and provide better corrosion protection.

Developing successful software with no defects is one of the main goals of software *** order to provide a software project with the anticipated software quality,the prediction of software defects plays a vital *** learning,and particularly deep learning,have been advocated for predicting software defects,however both suffer from inadequate accuracy,overfitting,and complicated *** this paper,we aim to address such issues in predicting software *** propose a novel structure of 1-Dimensional Convolutional Neural Network(1D-CNN),a deep learning architecture to extract useful knowledge,identifying and modelling the knowledge in the data sequence,reduce overfitting,and finally,predict whether the units of code are defects *** design large-scale empirical studies to reveal the proposed model’s effectiveness by comparing four established traditional machine learning baseline models and four state-of-the-art baselines in software defect prediction based on the NASA *** experimental results demonstrate that in terms of f-measure,an optimal and modest 1DCNN with a dropout layer outperforms baseline and state-of-the-art models by 66.79%and 23.88%,respectively,in ways that minimize overfitting and improving prediction performance for software *** to the results,1D-CNN seems to be successful in predicting software defects and may be applied and adopted for a practical problem in software ***,in turn,could lead to saving software development resources and producing more reliable software.
