To ensure the security of image information and facilitate efficient management in the cloud, the utilization of reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDHEI) has emerged as pivotal. However, most existing RDHEI schemes suffer from lower security and limited embedding capacity. To tackle these challenges, we propose a reversible data hiding with secret encrypted image sharing and adaptive coding scheme. Specifically, in the encryption phase, we introduce an improved secret sharing (SS) encryption method based on the chinese remainder theorem for polynomials (CRTP). This method not only improves the security of encrypted images but also vacates a larger room for embedding. In the embedding phase, we introduce an adaptive coding embedding approach using XOR preservation (XORP) and huffman coding, which provides high embedding capacity. Experimental results and security analysis demonstrate that our proposed encryption method achieves optimal values in security indicators for encrypted images, such as information entropy, histograms, NPCR and UACI. The proposed embedding method is superior to some state-of-the-art schemes in terms of embedding capacity. Furthermore, in datasets BOSSBase and BOWS2, the average embedding rates of the proposed embedding approach can reach 2.1745 bpp and 2.0656 bpp, respectively. © 2025 IEEE.

Location-based service (LBS) devices have enhanced daily life convenience but raised privacy concerns regarding user location data. For this, this research presents a novel approach to safeguard trajectory privacy through Similarity-based Trajectory Partitioning (STSM). The process begins by dividing trajectory equivalence classes based on distinct timestamps. Trajectory similarity is then assessed within each class using metrics such as Frechet distance, trajectory direction, and speed. Subsequently, a trajectory graph is constructed for each class, and the Dijkstra algorithm is applied to partition the graph using the k-subgraph method, effectively converting trajectory partitioning into graph partitioning. To meet publication requirements, Laplace noise is added to sensitive data linked to nodes and edges within the subgraph. Comparative experiments on real-world data confirm the efficacy, rationality, data availability, and privacy protection capabilities of the proposed trajectory partitioning algorithm, underscoring its superiority over alternative methods.

This study explores the effectiveness of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in automatically classifying skin cancer for e-health applications. The trained model showcases impressive performance by leveraging the HAM10000 dataset, which includes a wide range of skin lesion images from seven different classes. The parameters and architecture of the CNN model are presented in a systematic manner, providing valuable insights into the reasoning behind its design. The model is optimized using the Adam optimizer and annealing techniques to ensure efficient convergence. The model's performance is assessed on validation and test datasets, showcasing an accuracy of 78.55% and 76.49%, respectively, for skin cancer classification. This study highlights the significant potential of CNN as a powerful tool for automating the diagnosis of skin cancer, which is in line with the growing trend of using deep learning for medical image analysis. © 2024 IEEE.

In traditional control methods, Series Elastic Actuator (SEA) joint manipulators are limited by their hardware and can only perform simple tasks with low stiffness. To address this issue, we propose a stiffness adjustment control strategy for SEA manipulators based on Dynamic systems (DS) with good generalization performance. By enhancing the generalization capability of DS in complex tasks and combining posture control, the SEA manipulators can autonomously adjust control gains and postures according to task requirements to achieve higher stiffness at the end-effector. Experimental results involving the activation of air switches with different stiffness levels and installation angles have demonstrated the effectiveness of our proposed method. The results indicate that compared to traditional methods of adjusting the control gain and retraining DS for similar tasks, our approach exhibits superior generalization performance while maintaining end-effector stiffness during interactions.

With the exponential growth of data, the demand for effective data analysis tools has increased significantly. R language, known for its statistical modeling and data analysis capabilities, has become one of the most popular programming languages among data scientists and researchers. As the importance of energy-aware software systems continues to rise, several studies investigate the impact of source code and different stages of machine learning model training on energy consumption. However, existing studies in this domain primarily focus on programming languages like Python and Java, resulting in a lack of energy measuring tools for other programming languages such as R. To address this gap, we propose “RJoules”, a tool designed to measure the energy consumption of R code snippets. We evaluate the correctness and performance of RJoules by applying it to four machine learning algorithms on three different systems. Our aim is to support developers and practitioners in building energy-aware systems in R. This paper presents a classification framework based on learnable data augmentation to tackle the One-Shot Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (OS-UDA) problem. OS-UDA is the most challenging setting in Domain Adaptation, as only one single unlabeled target sample is assumed to be available for model adaptation. Driven by such single sample, our method LearnAug-UDA learns how to augment source data, making it perceptually similar to the target. As a result, a classifier trained on such augmented data will generalize well for the target domain. To achieve this, we designed an encoder-decoder architecture that exploits a perceptual loss and style transfer strategies to augment the source data. Our method achieves state-of-the-art performance on two well-known Domain Adaptation benchmarks, DomainNet and VisDA. The smart grid is a modern solution to generate, distribute, and use energy effectively and efficiently. Ensuring the stability of the smart grid is critical to guarantee safe and consistent operation. This study proposes a machine learning model to identify smart grid stability more efficiently. To accomplish this, we collected the electrical grid stability dataset from a public machine learning repository and analyzed the correlation of individual features. Different feature selection and transformation techniques were employed to generate subsequent feature sets. Then, various classification techniques were applied to the primary and its subsets to identify the best machine-learning model for predicting smart grid stability more efficiently. The results indicated that MLP showed the highest accuracy (97.06%) for the Z-score transformed data set using Grid Search Optimization. This study demonstrates the potential of using machine learning to predict smart grid stability accurately and efficiently, providing a critical tool for improving the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of the energy industry. © 2024, CC BY.

One of the most critical applications undertaken by coalitions of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) is reaching predefined targets by following the most time-efficient routes while avoiding collisions. Unfortunately, UAVs are hampered by limited battery life, and UGVs face challenges in reachability due to obstacles and elevation variations. Existing literature primarily focuses on one-to-one coalitions, which constrains the efficiency of reaching targets. In this work, we introduce a novel approach for a UAV-UGV coalition with a variable number of vehicles, employing a modified mean-shift clustering algorithm to segment targets into multiple zones. Each vehicle utilizes Multi-agent Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (MADDPG) and Multi-agent Proximal Policy Optimization (MAPPO) — two advanced reinforcement learning algorithms — to form an effective coalition for navigating obstructed environments without collisions. This approach of assigning targets to various circular zones, based on density and range, significantly reduces the time required to reach these targets. Moreover, introducing variability in the number of UAVs and UGVs in a coalition enhances task efficiency by enabling simultaneous multi-target engagement. The results of our experimental evaluation demonstrate that our proposed method substantially surpasses current state-of-the-art techniques, nearly doubling efficiency in terms of target navigation time and task completion rate. In this article, we develop a novel approach that leverages the capabilities of fuzzy logic and artificial intelligence (AI) to develop an intelligent, efficient cooperative RCN. Software defined radio (SDR) is flexible, scalable, and reconfigurable. Considering heterogeneous radio communication networks (RCNs), conventional relays do not perform well due to their limitations (security vulnerabilities in cooperative Internet-of-Things (IoT), inefficiencies in half-duplex relaying, etc.). We propose an AI-powered, fuzzy logic-based SDR relay to address these issues. These intelligent relays could be useful and outperform conventional relays due to their adaptability and reconfigurabilty, with added intelligence based on AI and fuzzy logic. The proposed next generation SDR relays offer significant advantages over traditional relays and have the potential to revolutionize the field of radio communication. Specifically, we analyze the decimation technique in SDR signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) resampler, Mamdani fuzzy logic controller, and use a machine learning (ML) model that uses RADIOML data set. Based on the simulation results, we show that applying fuzzy logic with an ML-enabled SDR relay could improve energy efficiency and reliability performance in advanced radio networks.

Longitudinal and lateral motion planning poses a significant challenge to achieving full autonomy in automated vehicles. This work focuses on studying the motion planning problem for automated vehicles specifically in a highwaymerging scenario. The problem is modeled as an infinite horizon optimal control problem, taking into account finite control sets for the ego agents and uncontrolled state components of surrounding traffic. For this type of control problem, obtaining a real-time solution that meets both high safety and efficiency requirements can be difficult. In this study, we employ the rollout approach, which involves online optimization following the simulation of a known baseline policy instead of relying solely on extensive offline training. We compare the performance of one and multistep lookahead rollout algorithms against several state-of-the-art benchmark policies in simulation. The simulation results indicate that the rollout algorithm significantly enhances safety while simultaneously maintaining a high average speed within the merging scenario. Furthermore, we conduct simulation studies to assess the rollout methods in adapting to varying behaviors of surrounding vehicles. Additionally, we investigate the impact of different horizon settings and the introduction of terminal cost approximation.
