The depletion of traditional energy sources, particularly fossil fuels, and increasing energy demands have prompted a combination of renewable energy sources (RES), Distributed Generation (DG) units, and the extensive uptake of micro grids are shaping the energy landscape. A micro grid operates either independently or in conjunction with the main power grid. In islanded mode, micro sources manage to supply power to loads while maintaining voltage and frequency within acceptable limits. However, islanded microgrids often face challenges related to poor power quality, with voltage unbalance being an important concern. Also, renewable energy systems lack inertia as they do not have any rotating parts. Therefore, this paper addresses the issue by proposing a positive-sequence (PS) in parallel with the negative sequence (NS) controller for a Voltage-Source Converter (VSC)-based DG unit for voltage unbalance reduction in microgrids. Additionally, to intensify the stability of the system, this paper also introduces a Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG) control framework, utilizing inverter-interfaced distributed energy resources to impart virtual inertia to the system. The proposed controller's design concept is validated via simulation in Simulink/MATLAB, with the results confirming the efficacy of the controller as demonstrated. © 2024 IEEE.

Advancements in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology, along with indoor hybrid LiFi-WiFi networks (HLWN), promise the development of cost-effective, energy-efficient, adaptable, reliable, rapid, and on-demand HLWN-capable indoor flying networks (IFNs). To achieve this, a unified physical layer (UniPHY) capable of simultaneous control communication, data transfer, and sensing is crucial. However, traditional block-based decoders, designed independently for LiFi and WiFi, perform poorly in complex and hybrid LiFi-WiFi-enabled UniPHY systems. In this study, we propose an end-to-end learning framework based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for UniPHY, which can be trained to serve hybrid LiFi-WiFi transmissions to improve error performance and simplify UAV hardware. In this work, the performance of the proposed framework is assessed and compared with that of the conventional independent block-based communication system. Furthermore, a comprehensive summary of optimal hyper-parameters for efficient training of our learning framework has been provided. It is shown that, with optimal hyper-parameters, the proposed CNN-based framework outperforms the conventional block-based approach by providing a signal-to-noise ratio gain of approximately 7 dB for the LiFi channel and 23 dB for the WiFi channel. In addition, we evaluate the complexity and training convergence for loss and accuracy. © 2024 The Authors

With an emphasis on their importance in con temporary power systems, this study examines the electricity trading as well as trading processes in Multi vectored Energy Hubs (MV-EHs). Multiple-source-integrated MV-EHs are essen tial to decentralised energy procurement as well as management. The first section of this study compares centralized as well as decentralization methods for introducing numerous markets clearing processes that are used within power hubs to maintain equilibrium demand alongside supply. After that, it explores several energies trading systems, emphasizing how MV-EHs relate to them. These systems include bilateral arrangements, peer-to-peer trading, as well as virtual power plants (VPPs). Furthermore, a variety of procedures are explored that facilitate efficient dealings, which include as procedures for optimization, auction-based strategies and neural network approaches. This study's last section addresses the opportunities and challenges for the development of MV-EH trade in electricity, with a focus on impending technological integration along with regulatory adap tation. Through this analysis, readers will gain a comprehensive understanding of how evolving technologies and market factors will impact the trading of electricity in MV-EHs in years to come. © 2025 IEEE.

In this paper, a new structure of the impedance source inverter based on the gamma half-bridge structure is proposed. In addition to having the advantages of the conventional gamma impedance source inverter, the proposed inverter also has more advantages. The boost factor has been improved in the proposed structure. Also, the number of passive components has decreased, which will increase the efficiency of the inverter. To reduce the size and weight of the proposed inverter, the voltage stress on the components of the proposed structure is reduced. Another advantage of the proposed structure is the continuity of the input current along with the improvement of the input current ripple. The continuity of input current is very important in applications of renewable energy sources such as solar energy. The continuity of the input current makes the maximum use of the input energy source. To see the advantages of the proposed inverter compared to other common inverters, a comparison between the proposed inverter and other common structures will be made and the results of the comparison will be expressed. Finally, PSCAD/EMTDC simulation software will be used to confirm the correctness of the calculated theoretical relationships. © 2024 IEEE.

Planning and managing renewable energy systems effectively depends on accurate predictions of the energy sources' production. The National Orthopedic Hospital in Igbobi is the subject of a particular case study in this review paper, which focuses on the creation and use of predictive models for predicting the output of renewable energy. The objective is to provide an overview of the existing literature on predictive models and assess their effectiveness in forecasting renewable energy generation. The review begins by highlighting the importance of accurate renewable energy forecasts and their implications for energy management. It then explores the methodologies used in developing predictive models, including statistical techniques, machine learning algorithms, and hybrid models. Various factors influencing renewable energy output forecasting, such as weather conditions, system characteristics, and historical data availability, are discussed. Predictive models for renewable energy production forecasting in comparable healthcare contexts are reviewed, along with case studies and other relevant literature. It examines how well various modeling techniques - such as support vector regression (SVR), autoregressive integrated moving averages (ARIMA), and artificial neural networks (ANN) - capture the intricacies of the production of renewable energy. It discusses the significance of model validation and verification techniques to ensure reliable and robust forecasting results. The findings of this review contribute to the understanding of predictive models for renewable energy output forecasting in healthcare facilities. It highlights the potential benefits of accurate forecasts, such as improved energy planning, enhanced renewable energy utilization, and cost reduction. In addition, the assessment highlights areas for future research and development needs in the creation and use of predictive models for renewable energy forecasting in comparable settings. © 2024 IEEE.

The global outbreak of the novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has impacted millions of individuals, leading to widespread health, economic, and social consequences. Additionally, the overwhelming number of COVID-19 cases has strained healthcare facilities, underscoring the crucial need for timely and accurate detection of infected individuals to mitigate the pandemic's impact. Inspired by the fact that existing deep learning models often rely on millions of parameters, rendering them unsuitable for resource-constrained devices, we developed a lightweight Parallel Convolutional Neural Network (PCNN) in this research. The model addresses the necessity for efficient COVID-19 pneumonia diagnostics from chest X-ray images by significantly reducing the number of parameters, resulting in a notable accuracy of 99.25% with 313k parameters. To further reduce parameters, separable convolution blocks were introduced, yielding an accuracy of 99.21% with 224k parameters. Despite their lightweight nature, our model demonstrates competitive performance compared to heavyweight models, emphasizing an accuracy rate of 99.21%. By minimizing computational costs and memory requirements, our model offers a cost-effective solution that can be effortlessly deployed on devices with limited resources. © 2023 IEEE.

The coupling of the legacy power infrastructure with complex computer networks and the integration of communication devices has led to the problem of cyberattacks, which in turn may induce partial/full blackouts. In this regard, an approach based on a Decision Tree for the detection and mitigation of Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks is proposed in this paper. Based on the patterns and effects observed during DoS attacks on the Synchrophasor data flowing from the Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) to the Phasor Data Concentrator (PDC), various supervised machine learning models are employed, which classify healthy and attack data and detect DoS attacks. Thereafter, a recurrent deep learning network employing Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) architecture is utilized to reconstruct the lost data, which in turn is helpful in mitigating the impacts of a DoS attack. The suggested algorithms are validated using a real-world scenario of a communication dataflow between multiple PMUs placed at different buses of a power transmission network and a PDC present at a control center, representing a wide-area network, and are incorporated using Real Time Digital Simulator and openPDC. By comparing various metrics of ML classification, the results indicate that the decision tree based model gives better accuracy along with the least detection time compared to other machine learning-based models. The suggested GRU-based mitigation algorithm can reconstruct the DoS-impacted lost data from the available pre-attack phasors. © 2024 IEEE.

Nowadays, weather image classification is very important, it can help many sectors, such as daily weather forecasting, disaster control, agriculture, aviation, etc. Deep learning has emerged as an effective method for image classification, providing significant increases in efficiency and accuracy. This study presents a thorough examination of the application of deep learning in weather image classification, with an emphasis on methodology, challenges, and future works. The PRISMA approach was used to systematically search and filter 25377 publications (2018-2024) from IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley Library, and MDPI. The result was a selection of 16 important studies that showcase cutting-edge methodologies and the effectiveness of those measures. Our goal is to present a comprehensive overview of how deep learning methods have improved weather prediction while identifying potential topics for future research. © 2024 IEEE.

The advancement of power systems to meet energy demands and expand supply through renewable energy sources (RESs) is an effective approach. Additionally, replacing conventional automobiles with Electric Vehicles (EVs), which emit fewer pollutants and have charge-discharge capabilities, is highly effective in addressing load demand. This study introduces a microgrid (MG) operating in island mode to optimize energy management and minimize the costs associated with fossil fuel energy production and environmental pollution. Demand-side management (DSM) is a critical strategy for optimizing energy usage in future networks. It helps reduce peak load by reshaping the supplier load profile and adjusting consumers' energy consumption. The charge-discharge capability of EVs can further enhance energy management. Their flexibility and high mobility allow them to be positioned anywhere on the grid. This study employed the Differential Evolution Algorithm to analyze the impact of energy sources and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology on peak load reduction and the significant decrease in the objective function value. © 2025 IEEE.
