Machine learning is being used more frequently in cyber security. One area is in antivirus software. Learning-based antivirus software is not perfect, since threat actors can use adversarial data to craft attacks against these learning-based security products. This paper focuses on using machine learning to craft attacks against Microsoft (MS) Windows Defender. The goal of this work is to provide tooling and knowledge for: security vendors to tighten the security of their products, security professionals to aid in showcasing risks to customers, and law enforcement to help discover the locations and identities of cyber criminals. The attacks focus on modifying Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code samples to flip Defender’s classification of those files. The modifications are done to the code itself (i.e., problem space) rather than just in feature space. The project attempts to extract information from MS Windows Defender to help craft the attacks. Preliminary results showed that the classification of some of the files was changed after targeted modification and that the attacks were feasible. Deep Learning in Medical Image Registration: Magic or Mirage?

Classical optimization and learning-based methods are the two reigning paradigms in deformable image registration. While optimization-based methods boast generalizability across modalities and robust performance, learning-based methods promise peak performance, incorporating weak supervision and amortized optimization. However, the exact conditions for either paradigm to perform well over the other are shrouded and not explicitly outlined in the existing literature. In this paper, we make an explicit correspondence between the mutual information of the distribution of per-pixel intensity and labels, and the performance of classical registration methods. This strong correlation hints to the fact that architectural designs in learning-based methods is unlikely to affect this correlation, and therefore, the performance of learning-based methods. This hypothesis is thoroughly validated with state-of-the-art classical and learning-based methods. However, learning-based methods with weak supervision can perform high-fidelity intensity and label registration, which is not possible with classical methods. Next, we show that this high-fidelity feature learning does not translate to invariance to domain shift, and learning-based methods are sensitive to such changes in the data distribution. Finally, we propose a general recipe to choose the best paradigm for a given registration problem, based on these observations. © 2024, CC BY.

Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are efficient tools for pattern recognition applications. They have found applications in wireless communication systems such as modulation classification from constellation diagrams. Unfortunately, noisy channels may render the constellation points deformed and scattered, which makes the classification a difficult task. This paper presents an efficient modulation classification algorithm based on CNNs. Constellation diagrams are generated for each modulation type and used for training and testing of the CNNs. The proposed work depends on the application of Radon Transform (RT) to generate more representative patterns for the constellation diagrams to be used for training and testing. The RT has a good ability to represent discrete points in the spatial domain as curved lines. Several pre-trained networks including AlexNet, VGG-16, and VGG-19 are used as classifiers for modulation type from the spatial-domain constellation diagrams or their RTs. Several simulation experiments are presented in this paper to compare different scenarios for modulation classification at different Signal-to-Noise Ratios (SNRs) and fading channel conditions. © 2022, The Author(s).

One of the major concerns for the utilities in the Smart Grid(SG)is electricity *** the implementation of smart meters,the frequency of energy usage and data collection from smart homes has increased,which makes it possible for advanced data analysis that was not previously *** this purpose,we have taken historical data of energy thieves and normal *** avoid imbalance observation,biased estimates,we applied the interpolation ***,the data unbalancing issue is resolved in this paper by Nearmiss undersampling technique and makes the data suitable for further *** proposing an improved version of Zeiler and Fergus Net(ZFNet)as a feature extraction approach,we had able to reduce the model’s time *** minimize the overfitting issues,increase the training accuracy and reduce the training loss,we have proposed an enhanced method by merging Adaptive Boosting(AdaBoost)classifier with Coronavirus Herd Immunity Optimizer(CHIO)and Forensic based Investigation Optimizer(FBIO).In terms of low computational complexity,minimized over-fitting problems on a large quantity of data,reduced training time and training loss and increased training accuracy,our model outperforms the benchmark *** proposed algorithms Ada-CHIO andAda-FBIO,have the low MeanAverage Percentage Error(MAPE)value of error,i.e.,6.8%and 9.5%,***,due to the stability of our model our proposed algorithms Ada-CHIO and Ada-FBIO have achieved the accuracy of 93%and 90%.Statistical analysis shows that the hypothesis we proved using statistics is authentic for the proposed technique against benchmark algorithms,which also depicts the superiority of our proposed techniques.

In existing secret medical-image sharing (SMIS) schemes, to protect and manage secret medical-images (SMIs), the sharing and recovery of each SMI are implemented by local servers of medical institutions. However, since a lot of SMIs are produced by personal smart terminal devices in Internet of Things (IoT) environment, directly implementing the sharing and recovery processes will cause excessive communication and computing burden for those local servers, which makes the existing SMIS schemes not suitable for IoT environment. To address the above issue, we propose an encrypted domain SMIS (Enc-SMIS) scheme with secure outsourcing computation for protecting and managing medical images in IoT environment. In the proposed scheme, the medical images are first encrypted using fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) and then outsourced to a cloud server for generating a set of image shares. Subsequently, these shares are stored separately in different local servers of medical institutions. Furthermore, the recovery process is also outsourced to the cloud server when doctors need to observe the patients' medical images. Compared with the existing SMIS schemes, the proposed Enc-SMIS scheme alleviates the computing and communication burden on local servers significantly with secure outsourcing computation in the semi-honest model, and thus supports the storage and management of medical images well in IoT environment. © 2014 IEEE.

In today’s digital era,the text may be in form of *** research aims to deal with the problem by recognizing such text and utilizing the support vector machine(SVM).A lot of work has been done on the English language for handwritten character recognition but very less work on the under-resourced Hindi language.A method is developed for identifying Hindi language characters that use morphology,edge detection,histograms of oriented gradients(HOG),and SVM classes for summary *** rank employs the summary to extract essential phrases based on paragraph position,phrase position,numerical data,inverted comma,sentence length,and keywords *** primary goal of the SVM optimization function is to reduce the number of features by eliminating unnecessary and redundant *** second goal is to maintain or improve the classification system’s *** experiment included news articles from various genres,such as Bollywood,politics,and *** proposed method’s accuracy for Hindi character recognition is 96.97%,which is good compared with baseline approaches,and system-generated summaries are compared to human *** evaluated results show a precision of 72%at a compression ratio of 50%and a precision of 60%at a compression ratio of 25%,in comparison to state-of-the-art methods,this is a decent result.

We propose a semantic template-based distributed representation for the convolutional neural network called Semantic Template-based Convolutional Neural Network (STCNN) for text categorization that imitates the perceptual behavior of human comprehension. STCNN is a highly automatic approach that learns semantic templates that characterize a domain from raw text and recognizes categories of documents using a semantic-infused convolutional neural network that allows a template to be partially matched through a statistical scoring system. Our experiment results show that STCNN effectively classifies documents in about 140,000 Chinese news articles into predefined categories by capturing the most prominent and expressive patterns and achieves the best performance among all compared methods for Chinese topic classification. Finally, the same knowledge can be directly used to perform a semantic analysis task. © 2023 held by the owner/author(s). Publication rights licensed to ACM.
