In applications such as search and rescue or disaster relief, heterogeneous multi-robot systems (MRS) can provide significant advantages for complex objectives that require a suite of capabilities. However, within these application spaces, communication is often unreliable, causing inefficiencies or outright failures to arise in most MRS algorithms. Many researchers tackle this problem by requiring all robots to either maintain communication using proximity constraints or assuming that all robots will execute a predetermined plan over long periods of disconnection. The latter method allows for higher levels of efficiency in a MRS, but failures and environmental uncertainties can have cascading effects across the system, especially when a mission objective is complex or time-sensitive. To solve this, we propose an epistemic planning framework that allows robots to reason about the system state, leverage heterogeneous system makeups, and optimize information dissemination to disconnected neighbors. Dynamic epistemic logic formalizes the propagation of belief states, and epistemic task allocation and gossip is accomplished via a mixed integer program using the belief states for utility predictions and planning. Cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) in the brain are the essential indicators of critical brain disorders such as dementia and ischemic stroke. Generally, CMBs are detected manually by experts, which is an exhaustive task with limited productivity. Since CMBs have complex morphological nature, manual detection is prone to errors. This paper presents a machine learning-based automated CMB detection technique in the brain susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) scans based on statistical feature extraction and classification. The proposed method consists of three steps: (1) removal of the skull and extraction of the brain;(2) thresholding for the extraction of initial candidates;and (3) extracting features and applying classification models such as random forest and naïve Bayes classifiers for the detection of true positive CMBs. The proposed technique is validated on a dataset consisting of 20 subjects. The dataset is divided into training data that consist of 14 subjects with 104 microbleeds and testing data that consist of 6 subjects with 63 microbleeds. We were able to achieve 85.7% sensitivity using the random forest classifier with 4.2 false positives per CMB, and the naïve Bayes classifier achieved 90.5% sensitivity with 5.5 false positives per CMB. The proposed technique outperformed many state-of-the-art methods proposed in previous studies. © 2023 The Author(s).

With the continuous expansion of the scale of air transport, the demand for aviation meteorological support also continues to grow. The impact of hazardous weather on flight safety is critical. How to effectively use meteorological data to improve the early warning capability of flight dangerous weather and ensure the safe flight of aircraft is the primary task of aviation meteorological services. In this work, support vector machine (SVM) models are used to predict hazardous flight weather, especially for meteorological conditions with high uncertainty such as storms and turbulence. SVM is a supervised learning method that distinguishes between different classes of data by finding optimal decision boundaries in a high-dimensional space. To meet the needs of this study, we chose the radial basis function (RBF) as the kernel function, which helps to deal with nonlinear problems and enables the model to better capture complex meteorological data structures. During the model training phase, we used historical meteorological observations from multiple weather stations, including temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, and other meteorological indicators closely related to flight safety. From this data, the SVM model learns how to distinguish between normal and dangerous flight weather conditions. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Medical image fusion is considered the best method for obtaining one image with rich details for efficient medical diagnosis and *** learning provides a high performance for several medical image analysis *** paper proposes a deep learning model for the medical image fusion *** model depends on Convolutional Neural Network(CNN).The basic idea of the proposed model is to extract features from both CT and MR ***,an additional process is executed on the extracted *** that,the fused feature map is reconstructed to obtain the resulting fused ***,the quality of the resulting fused image is enhanced by various enhancement techniques such as Histogram Matching(HM),Histogram Equalization(HE),fuzzy technique,fuzzy type,and Contrast Limited Histogram Equalization(CLAHE).The performance of the proposed fusion-based CNN model is measured by various metrics of the fusion and enhancement *** realistic datasets of different modalities and diseases are tested and ***,real datasets are tested in the simulation analysis.

LoRa technology contributes to green energy by enabling efficient,long-range communication for the Internet of Things(IoT).This paper addresses the challenges related to coverage range in outdoor monitoring systems utilizing LoRa,where the network performance is affected by the density of gateways(GWs)and end devices(EDs),as well as environmental *** mitigate interference,data throughput losses,and high-power consumption,the proposed spreading factor(SF)and hybrid(data rate|SF)models dynamically adjust the transmission *** orchestration of concurrent data modifications within the network server(NS)is crucial for uninterrupted communication between GWs and EDs,especially in monitoring electric vehicle(EV)stations to reduce traffic congestion and *** K-means and density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise(DBSCAN)algorithms optimizes ED allocation,averts data congestion,and improves the signal-tointerference noise ratio(SINR).These methods ensure seamless information reception by meticulously allocated EDs across various GW *** estimate the free-space losses(FSL),a log-distance path loss model(log-PL)is *** various bandwidths(BWs),bidirectional communications,and duty cycles(DCs)helps to prevent saturation,thus prolonging the operational lifespan of *** findings reveal a notable packet rejection rate(PRR)of 0%for the DBSCAN(hybrid model).In contrast,the K-means exhibits a PRR ranging from 5%(hybrid model)to 35.29%(SF model)for the ten GWs ***,the network saturation is reduced to 10.185%and 9.503%,respectively,highlighting an improvement in the average efficiency of slotted ALOHA(91.1%)and pure ALOHA(90.7%).These enhancements increase the lifespan of EDs to 15,465.27 days.

Recent advances in multi-unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) based federated learning do not take into consideration the massive computational requirements of modern deep learning models on mobile UAV s. Additionally, there has been significant progress that shows that the information transmitted between the federated agent and the central hub can be attacked to undermine the privacy of the data. We propose a novel multi-UAV-based federated transfer learning system that drastically reduces the computational burden overall, shifts it from UAV s to the ground fusion center, and reduces the bandwidth requirements while enhancing its secure nature. The proposed system makes multi-UAV learning significantly fast, reliable, power efficient, and practically feasible. Furthermore, we provide simulation and experimental results to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system.

In transiting from one civilization to another, technology has played a vital and positive role. In the 21st century, one of the digital developments that is paving ways for human life improvement is machine-assisted technology using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Artificial Intelligence has successfully enhanced man's capacity in solving complex problems and processes. However, as developed nations continue to reap from the adoption of AI in various fields of human endeavors, the continent of Africa has remained behind, especially in AI-based skills and research. Various governments in developing nations have encouraged the adoption of AI, especially in institutions of learning. However, theoretical adoption without practical experience has remained an ineffective way of bridging the digital divide. In this paper we present the outcome of a practical approach to bridging the AI divide among students and researchers in Africa through funding support from the Google TensorFlow College Outreach Award. A 3-day hybrid bootcamp was organized (11th to 13th December, 2023) using the Google funding in order to equip postgraduate students and researchers with AI and collaborative research skills. A pre-survey method was employed to ascertain the knowledge level of the bootcamp participants. From the pre-surveyed feedback, training sessions on various AI domains were presented, and participant equipped with practical AI skills using a deployed AI-based cloud programming platform running on the private Federated Genomic Cloud (FEDGEN) infrastructure at Covenant University. A post-survey feedback was used to ascertain the effectiveness of this approach. A comparative analysis of the pre-survey and post-survey reveals a 70% improvement of AI skills among participants. This shows that having continuous training session for students and researchers is an effective method in closing the AI skills gap between developed and developing nations. © 2024 IEEE.

To assess the wind power potential of a specific wind site, a suitable distribution function that best suits the wind data needs to be known. In this study, we employ four probability density functions (PDFs), namely Weibull, Rayleigh, Log-Normal, and Gamma, on wind speed data obtained from two coastal cities in Pakistan, Gwadar and Karachi, to check which one is the best suited. Cities along the coastline of Pakistan offer greater wind speeds and, thus, greater wind power potential. The maximum likelihood technique is used to estimate the parameters of the density distributions. Three statistical measures—Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), and Coefficient of Determination (R2)—are used to assess the goodness of fit for every distribution. These measures give a complete picture of every distribution's correctness in terms of reflecting the recorded wind speed patterns. Numerical results reveal that the Weibull distribution fits well with the wind speeds of the two coastal cities compared to the other three probability distributions, providing insightful analysis for the evaluation of wind resources and possible local energy generation. The MATLAB environment is used to compare the distributions and validate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology. ©2024 IEEE.

Education plays a pivotal role in individual development, imparting growth, values, and cultural understanding. In the realm of education, university education emerges as a transformative phase crucial for professional life. The selection of the right course during these formative years significantly shapes one's life trajectory. Amidst the complexities of this decision-making stage, exacerbated by societal pressures, pre-tertiary students often grapple with confusion. This research addresses the unique challenges faced by pre-tertiary students through the introduction of a Web-Based Admission Recommender System. Unlike existing systems, our recommender system empowers students to autonomously make well-informed decisions about their course of study, considering their distinctive abilities. The system integrates three crucial parameters: preferred core subjects' combination, Intelligence Quotient, and Career Interest. Implemented with the Catboost Classification utilizing the Gradient Boosting Algorithm, and featuring a user interface designed with Bootstrap 3, Python, and Flask, the system underwent rigorous testing with primary data from 346 secondary school students in their final year. The evaluation showcased commendable accuracy, with a notable 86.71% accuracy rate, 74.4% precision, 80% recall, and an 83% f1 score rate. This research makes distinctive contributions to the field by significantly enhancing the decision-making process for pretertiary students. The recommender system emerges as a reliable tool, uniquely positioned to guide students in selecting courses aligned with their individual capabilities and aspirations. By addressing the nuanced needs of pre-tertiary students, our research sets a new standard in personalized educational guidance. © 2024 IEEE.
