UML use cases are commonly used in software engineering to specify the functional requirements of a system since they are an effective tool for interacting with stakeholders thanks to the use of natural languages. However, producing high-quality use cases can be challenging due to the lack of precise guidelines and suitable tools. This can lead to problems, e.g. inaccuracy and incompleteness, in the derived software artifacts and the final product. Recent advancements in Natural Language Processing and Large Language Models (LLMs) can provide the premises for developing tools supporting activities based on natural languages. In this paper, we propose ECHO, a novel approach for supporting software engineers in enhancing the quality of UML use cases using LLMs. Our approach consists of a co-prompt engineering approach and an iterative and interactive process with the LLM to improve the quality of use cases, based on practitioners' feedback. To prove the feasibility of the proposal, we instantiated the approach using ChatGPT and performed a controlled experiment to assess its effectiveness by involving seven software engineering professionals. Three were part of the experimental group and used ECHO to improve the quality of the use cases. Three others were the control group and enhanced the quality of use cases manually. Finally, the last participant acted as an oracle, blind w.r.t. the groups, and evaluated the quality of the enhanced use cases, both qualitatively by means of a questionnaire, and quantitatively, by means of the Use Case Points metric. Results show that ECHO can effectively support software engineers to improve use cases' quality thanks to the prompts suitably designed to interact with ChatGPT. © 2023 IEEE.

Efficient poultry management is essential to ensure the continued availability and affordability of poultry products for consumers. Considering the crucial role of poultry farming in the global economy, this paper introduces a novel automated poultry monitoring system using the YOLO v8 model. In this work, a dataset comprising visual images was collected and utilized to predict the pathological characteristics of chickens. A total of 500 augmented images with the annotated labels as scab, swelling, paralysis and healthy chickens are taken into the account. After training, the proposed YOLOv8-based model showcased outstanding performance by achieving the top accuracy in object detection, boasting an F1 score of 0.86. The proposed system transcends passive monitoring by providing real-time data and triggering alerts via mails with triggered data and insightful images. Additionally, this proposed system emphasizes chicken welfare through proper monitoring of climate conditions such as temperature, humidity, and air quality, which significantly influence chicken health and productivity. The parameters obtained from DHT and MQ6 sensors interfaced with ESP8266 provide valuable insights for optimizing poultry farm operations and improving overall chicken health to maintain a stress-free environment, fostering increased egg production and overall flock health. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates the the challenges of resource allocation optimization for computation offloading in vehicular edge networks. It is assumed that multiple moving vehicles select Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) servers on Road Side Units (RSUs) to offload their computation tasks, for which, MEC servers allocate appropriate resources. To achieve the best balance between minimizing latency and resource consumption to ensure system performance, this study utilizes a Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning (MARL) framework, where each vehicle and MEC server acts as an agent and learns optimal strategies through interactions with the environment. To improve performance, a new Global Heterogeneous MARL (GHMARL) framework is purposely designed based on existing MARL approaches. The proposed framework trains two Critic networks, namely, a global Critic network to ensure service quality and a local Critic network to ensure resource utilization efficiency. Extensive simulation results demonstrate the performance superiority of this approach over benchmark algorithms. © 2024 IEEE.

Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) is a promising technology for future mobile networks, enabling sensing applications to be performed by existing communication networks, consequently improving the system efficiency. Millimeter wave (mmWave) signals provide high sensing resolution and high data rate but suffer from sensitivity to blockage. Cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), with a large number of distributed access points (APs), can overcome this challenge by providing macro diversity against changing blockages and can save energy consumption by deactivating unfavorable APs. Thus, in this work, we propose a joint dynamic AP mode selection and power allocation scheme for mmWave cell-free massive MIMO-ISAC, where APs are assigned either as ISAC transmitters, sensing receivers, or shut down. Due to the large size of the original problem, we propose three different sub-optimal algorithms that minimize the number of active APs while guaranteeing the sensing and communication constraints. Numerical results demonstrate that assigning ISAC transmitters only satisfying communication constraints, followed up by sensing receiver assignment only for sensing constraint achieves the best performance-complexity balance. © 2024 IEEE.

This study investigates the application of a simultaneous transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (STAR-RIS)-aided medium-Earth-orbit (MEO) satellite network for providing both global positioning services and communication services in the urban canyons, where the direct satellite-user links are obstructed. Superposition coding (SC) and successive interference cancellation (SIC) techniques are utilized for the integrated navigation and communication (INAC) networks, and the composed navigation and communication signals are reflected or transmitted to ground users or indoor users located in urban canyons. To meet diverse application needs, navigation-oriented (NO)-INAC and communicationoriented (CO)-INAC have been developed, each tailored according to distinct power allocation factors. We then proposed two algorithms, namely navigation-prioritized-algorithm (NPA) and communication-prioritized-algorithm (CPA), to improve the navigation or communication performance by selecting the satellite with the optimized position dilution of precision (PDoP) or with the best channel gain. © 2025 IEEE.

We present a low-cost 5G-SA system based on edge-computing hardware with open-source components and off-the-shelf hardware in this paper. Our system is suitable for nomadic and ad-hoc 5G-SA use cases that require low-power consumption and small space. We show a complete development covering how to prepare the operating system for the installation of the 5G next-generation node B (gNB) and how to install and deploy the 5G-SA software components. We evaluate the performance, indoor coverage range, and power consumption of our system with measurements. We show that our system achieves acceptable data rates, and is very space and energy-efficient with an average power consumption of ≈ 24.81 W. We provide detailed and maintained documentation on the deployment of our system and discuss possible extensions for future work. © 2024 Mobilkommunikation: Technologien und Anwendungen - 28. In recent times, smartphones can be said to have become a necessity for users. From children to old age, everyone knows what a Smartphone is. The smartphone has various uses according to its users and is equipped with hardware with various sensors. The sensors that each smartphone owns also vary depending on the original factory. Some of the sensors owned by smartphones have beneficial uses;for example, magnetometer sensors do use to determine the wind direction. Then there is the Accelerometer and Gyroscope sensor, which will form an orientation sensor to discover the changes the smartphone feels at an angle, which developed in an application. This study emphasizes the value of the Pitch, Roll, Azimuth, and Angle sensors, which will form a graph according to the behavior of the smartphone. The overall experimental outcomes were obtained by conducting a comprehensive comparison against applications available on the Play Store, ensuring that the margin of error remained below 5 degrees. The orientation sensor is intended to get the value of the attitude change by the smartphone, whose value will then form a graph in real-time. The values preserved results will storing in the Cloud Firebase. © 2023 IEEE.

The abbreviation rANS stands for a relatively new method of arithmetic coding based on asymmetric numeral systems (ANS) which combines the advantages of arithmetic coding in terms of performance and the advantages of Huffman coding in terms of speed. Compared to conventional arithmetic coding methods, the mathematical apparatus is slightly different which has the consequence that the decoding order is reversed to the encoding order, i.e. the processing follows the last-in-first-out principle. This makes it somewhat difficult to design the coding process to adapt to changing symbol statistics, and therefore rANS coding has so far only been applied in settings with fixed statistics. In particular, the frequent rescaling of statistics required to reduce the influence of old symbols becomes a problem when the order of processing is different on the encoder and decoder sides. This paper proposes a new method that allows adaptive coding within the framework of rANS coding and additionally offers the possibility of rescaling the symbols frequencies. Investigations show that this method enables the same compression performance for rANS as for conventional arithmetic coding. © 2023 European Signal Processing Conference, EUSIPCO. With the the vigorous development of new power system, energy and carbon coupling trading has emerged as an effective way to promote the renewable generation and reduce carbon footprint. It is a challenge to design an effective market framework for joint electricity and carbon trading to achieve better strategies. This paper introduces a peer-to-peer electricity-carbon coupling trading (ECCT) market and develops a carbon-electricity virtual battery (CEVB) model to represent the relationship between dynamic carbon credits and energy consumption. The trading optimization problem is formulated as a partially observable Markov decision process, then multi-agent double soft actor-critic (MADSAC) algorithm is introduced to solve the problem. The algorithm makes the method more exploratory, protects personal privacy and solves the overestimation problems effectively. Result studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed market and algorithm in optimizing total cost and reducing carbon emissions. © 2024 IEEE.

Mobile robots face a significant challenge when navigating in dynamic environments such as human crowds. Existing research works typically employ separate data or simulators for dynamic object detection and navigation tasks. This paper combines the photo-realistic simulator Habitat with embedded dynamic objects to create a playground for optimizing vision-based navigation algorithms. To validate our system, we implement and train three approaches - zero masks, image memory inpainting, and semantic map filter - using semantically segmented information. We then implement and evaluate an adapted reinforcement-learning-based SLAM algorithm using the validation Gibson dataset. The results indicate that moderate localization bias occurs when the environment is small and the navigation process is short. However, the error will accumulate over time. Additionally, a dynamic environment leads to less accurate localization. All three approaches can reduce the localization error, while the semantic map filter approach shows the best overall performance. © 2023 IEEE.
