Among different components of urban mobility, urban freight transport is usually considered as the least sustainable. Limited traffic infrastructures and increasing demands in dense urban regions lead to frequent delivery runs with smaller freight vehicles. This increases the traffic in urban areas and has negative impacts upon the quality of life in urban populations. Data driven optimizations are essential to better utilize existing urban transport infrastructures and to reduce the negative effects of freight deliveries for the cities. However, there is limited work and data driven research on urban delivery areas and freight transportation networks. In this paper, we collect and analyse data on urban freight deliveries and parking areas towards an optimized urban freight transportation system. Using a new check-in based mobile parking system for freight vehicles, we aim to understand and optimize freight distribution processes. We explore the relationship between areas' availability patterns and underlying traffic behaviour in order to understand the trends in urban freight transport. By applying the detected patterns we predict the availabilities of loading/unloading areas, and thus open up new possibilities for delivery route planning and better managing of freight transport infrastructures.

In recent years, deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have shown record-shattering performance in a variety of computer vision problems, such as visual object recognition, detection and segmentation. These methods have also been utilised in medical image analysis domain for lesion segmentation, anatomical segmentation and classification. We present an extensive literature review of CNN techniques applied in brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) analysis, focusing on the architectures, pre-processing, data-preparation and post-processing strategies available in these works. The aim of this study is three-fold. Our primary goal is to report how different CNN architectures have evolved, discuss state-of-the-art strategies, condense their results obtained using public datasets and examine their pros and cons. Second, this paper is intended to be a detailed reference of the research activity in deep CNN for brain MRI analysis. Finally, we present a perspective on the future of CNNs in which we hint some of the research directions in subsequent years. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Ceph is a reliable, scalable, unified distributed storage system, and recently has become one of OpenStack's standard open source storage solutions. For the reason of the low performance, Ceph Filesystem (Cephfs) cannot employ erasure codes directly, especially for binary Reed-Solomon (BRS) codes, whose size of the parity block is larger than that of the data block. To address these problems, we implemented efficient BRS codes, and filled the gap between BRS codes and Cephfs by a simple conversion. In addition to that, an efficient framework consisting of filesystem, cache tier and storage tier was adopted in Ceph to ensure that the file data is finally stored with the erasure coding technology. The experimental results show that such a design spends a small amount of additional cost but obtains much better effects.

The study of software bugs has long been a key area in software security. Dynamic symbolic execution, in exploring the program's execution paths, finds bugs by analyzing all potential dangerous operations. Due to its high coverage and abilities to generate effective testcases, dynamic symbolic execution has attracted wide attention in the research community. However, the success of dynamic symbolic execution is limited due to complex program logic and its difficulty to handle large symbolic data. In our experiments we found that phase-related features of a program often prevents dynamic symbolic execution from exploring deep paths. On the basis of this discovery, we proposed a novel symbolic execution technology guided by program phase characteristics. Compared to KLEE, the most well-known symbolic execution approach, our method is capable of covering more code and discovering more bugs. We designed and implemented pbSE system, which was used to test several commonly used tools and libraries in Linux. Our results showed that pbSE on average covers code twice as much as what KLEE does, and we discovered 21 previously unknown vulnerabilities by using pbSE, out of which 7 are assigned CVE IDs.

KM3NeT is a deep-sea neutrino observatory under construction at two sites in the Mediterranean Sea. The ARCA telescope (Italy), aims at identifying and studying TeV-PeV astrophysical neutrino sources, while the ORCA telescope (France), aims at studying the intrinsic properties of neutrinos in the few-GeV range. Since they are optimised in complementary energy ranges, both telescopes can be used to do neutrino astronomy from a few MeV to a few PeV, despite of their different primary goals. The KM3NeT observatory takes active part to the real-time multi-messenger searches, which allow to study transient phenomena by combining information from the simultaneous observation of complementary cosmic messengers with different observatories. In this respect, a key component is the real-time distribution of alerts when potentially interesting detections occur, in order to increase the discovery potential of transient sources and refine the localization of poorly localized triggers, such as gravitational waves. The KM3NeT real-time analysis framework is currently reconstructing all ARCA and ORCA events, searching for spatial and temporal coincidences with alerts received from other operating multi-messenger instruments and performing core-collapse supernova analyses. The selection of a sample of interesting events to send alerts to the external multi-messenger community is presently under definition. This article presents the potential of a combined analysis of the JUNO and KM3NeT/ORCA experiments to determine the neutrino mass ordering. This combination is particularly interesting as it significantly boosts the potential of either detector, beyond simply adding their neutrino mass ordering sensitivities, by removing a degeneracy in the determination of Δm2 31 between the two experiments when assuming the wrong ordering. The study is based on the latest projected performances for JUNO, and on simulation tools using a full Monte Carlo approach to the KM3NeT/ORCA response with a careful assessment of its energy systematics. From this analysis, a 5σ determination of the neutrino mass ordering is expected after 6 years of joint data taking for any value of the oscillation parameters. This sensitivity would be achieved after only 2 years of joint data taking assuming the current global best-fit values for those parameters for normal ordering. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. For several decades, the origin of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) has been an unsolved question of high-energy astrophysics. One approach for solving this puzzle is to correlate UHECRs with high-energy neutrinos, since neutrinos are a direct probe of hadronic interactions of cosmic rays and are not deflected by magnetic fields. In this paper, we present three different approaches for correlating the arrival directions of neutrinos with the arrival directions of UHECRs. The neutrino data is provided by the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and ANTARES, while the UHECR data with energies above ∼50 EeV is provided by the Pierre Auger Observatory and the Telescope Array. All experiments provide increased statistics and improved reconstructions with respect to our previous results reported in 2015. The first analysis uses a high-statistics neutrino sample optimized for point-source searches to search for excesses of neutrinos clustering in the vicinity of UHECR directions. The second analysis searches for an excess of UHECRs in the direction of the highest-energy neutrinos. The third analysis searches for an excess of pairs of UHECRs and highest-energy neutrinos on different angular scales. None of the analyses has found a significant excess, and previously reported over-fluctuations are reduced in significance. Neutrino telescopes perform an indirect search for dark matter (DM) through its annihilation into standard model channels yielding neutrinos, for a broad range of WIMP masses. The ANTARES detector, anchored to the Mediterranean seabed at a depth of about 2500 m, looks for a DM signal from two promising neutrino sources from WIMP annihilation: the Galactic Center and the Sun. We present the latest results on ANTARES indirect detection in a wide range of WIMP masses and decay channels, and give a future prospect on sensitivities of DM searches with the KM3NeT detector, the next-generation neutrino telescope, currently under deployment in the Mediterranean Sea. These experiments have specific advantages, complementary to other detection strategies, and can provide a smoking-gun signal. The geographical location of ANTARES and KM3NeT is particularly well suited for searches in the Galactic Center, allowing for the world-best sensitivity for WIMP annihilation. © Copyright owned by the author(s) under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0)

As the Internet and the big data system evolve rapidly, the deployment of distributed applications becomes widespread, promoting the development of Distributed File System (DFS). The existing defense technologies for DFS, such as detection or patching, mainly aim to protect the system from known attacks and vulnerabilities. However, it is difficult for those systems to solve the growing security issues from the unknown threats due to their passiveness and hysteresis. In this paper, we propose MDFS, a mimic defense theory based architecture for DFS with the capability to improve the data security. Mimic Defense (MD), a proactive defense embedded in MDFS, emphasizes dynamism, heterogeneity and redundancy. The key benefits of MD are transferring the attack surface as well as increasing the cost of modification.
