The presented article introduces the obtained solutions to the problems of information security in information networks at high-voltage electrical substations. The topic is driven by the ever-increasing apply of digital instrument transformers to measure electrical values on substations. These intelligent devices allow you to measure the currents and voltages in real time. The measured electrical instant values contained inside the data stream from digital instrument transformers must be delivered to the substation dispatching system in a strictly limited time. Exceeding the time delays of information transmission in the information network of a substation can lead to an accident at a critical infrastructure facility, which is an electrical substation. An increase in time delays during data transmission to the substation control system may be the results of information storms, which for various reasons may occur in the substation information network. This is one of the reasons for holding back the transition of the electric power sector of economy to the digital substations application. The presented software and hardware for digital instrumental transformers make it possible to ensure data transmission with an acceptable time delay in the event of an increase in the information load on the network. Laboratory studies and mathematical modeling confirm the results of the development. © 2022 IEEE.

One of the most important resources of renewable energy is solar photovoltaic technology. The current photovoltaics have significant drawbacks (high costs, low efficiency & intermittency) and yet it has not been taken advantage all their potential. Capturing sun's maximum energy using photovoltaics is challenging because several factors affect their energy output including the photovoltaic material, geographical location, ambient temperature and weather, orientation of the panel and angle of sun incidence. The tracking techniques, efficiency, performance, advantages and disadvantages are compared. Diverse types of solar tracking systems based on their technologies and emphasized in those that are microprocessor based are presented and categorized. © 2020 ACM.

A new beam-steering method is proposed for a broadside patch radiator, radiating under a metasurface (MSF) for enhanced gain. A 3D-printed structure that hosts 20 fluidic channels in a 5×4 array is added beneath the MSF. By selectively filling-in the channels with distilled water, a high εrcontrolled-shape block is formed re-directing the main lobe direction. The presented structure consists of a 4.8 GHz patch radiator with 6 dBi of gain. The addition of a 10×10 cells MSF enhances the broadside lobe gain to approximately 14 dBi, and the use of selectively filled fluidic channels can cause 33° of beam tilting in two directions. The gain of the tilted beams remain higher than 10 dBi in both directions.

The manuscript presents the designs of two nonreciprocal / directional metasurfaces (MSFs) operating in the 3.5 GHz frequency band. The first one presents a Circular Polarization to Circular Polarization (CP-to-CP) MSF where the MSF cell consists of a circularly polarized patch antenna with truncated corners in each side of the multi-layer surface with the use of transistors along the signal path. A similar method with two transistors and a via that connects the radiators in each side, is also used for the second case, where a circular polarization to linear polarization (CP-to-LP) MSF is implemented with the converted propagated linearly polarized wave to be selectively chosen between two orthogonal polarizations. The two transistors along the transmission lines deny the propagation along the opposite direction and they enhance the propagated wave in the preferred direction.

A new concept of a directional, non-reciprocal metasurface (MSF) where the polarization of the transmitted wave can be selected at will is presented. Each cell of the proposed MSF has a circularly polarized (CP) elliptical patch on side 1 and a reconfigurable orthogonal (either x- or y-) linear polarization (LP) square patch on side 2. Any random polarization incident wave on side 1 is collected by the array of CP antennas. The signal is transmitted to the reconfigurable LP antennas on side 2 through vias. The reconfigurable LP patches have orthogonal feed from two segments which are connected with the common microstrip line through single pole double through (SPDT) switches. The appropriate switch position results in the preferred polarization of the transmitted wave. Two transistors along the transmission lines of the two antennas ensure the non-reciprocity of the directional metasurface. The proposed design operates effectively in the frequency range 3.4-3.6 GHz and it presents nearly 20 dB enhancement of the transmitted wave with the selected linear polarization in the forward direction and 50 dB isolation as compared to the propagation in the opposite direction.

Fog computing extends the capability of cloud services to support latency sensitive applications. Adding fog computing nodes in proximity to a data generation/ actuation source can support data analysis tasks that have stringent deadline constraints. We introduce a real time, security-aware scheduling algorithm that can execute over a fog environment [1 , 2]. The applications we consider comprise of: (i) interactive applications which are less compute intensive, but require faster response time;(ii) computationally intensive batch applications which can tolerate some delay in execution. From a security perspective, applications are divided into three categories: public, private and semi-private which must be hosted over trusted, semi-trusted and untrusted resources. We propose the architecture and implementation of a distributed orchestrator for fog computing, able to combine task requirements (both performance and security) and resource properties. © 2021 IEEE.

Customer reviews on online platforms have grown to become an important source of insight into a company's performance. Food delivery services (FDS) companies aim to effectively use customers' feedback to identify areas for improvement of customer satisfaction. Although Arabic is becoming one of the most widely used languages on the Internet, only a few studies have focused on Arabic sentiment analysis to date. The present study conducts an extensive emotion mining and sentiment analysis on FDS-related reviews in Arabic, exploiting natural language processing, and machine learning techniques to extract information that reflects customers' subjective viewpoints, recognize their feelings, and determine polarity in the FDS domain. This work begins with collecting the FDS dataset (Talabat), and then extracting and creating a dialects lexicon for Arabic dialects, followed by walking the reader through detailed steps of cleaning and pre-processing a manually annotated dataset. Finally, we examined classification algorithms including Decision Tree (DT), and Support Vector Machine (SVM). We achieved a maximum accuracy of about 82% using the SVM classifier.

Speech Emotion Recognition (SER) recognizes the emotional features of speech signals regardless of semantic content. Deep Learning techniques have proven superior to conventional techniques for emotion recognition due to advantages such as speed and scalability and infinitely versatile operation. However, since emotions are subjective, there is no universal agreement on evaluating or categorizing them. The main objective of this paper is to design a suitable model of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) - Stride-based Convolutional Neural Network (SCNN) by taking a smaller number of convolutional layers and eliminate the pooling-layers to increase computational stability. This elimination tends to increase the accuracy and decrease the computational time of the SER system. Instead of pooling layers, deep strides have been used for the necessary dimension reduction. SCNN is trained on spectrograms generated from the speech signals of two different databases, Berlin (Emo-DB) and IITKGP-SEHSC. Four emotions, angry, happy, neutral, and sad, have been considered for the evaluation process, and a validation accuracy of 90.67% and 91.33% is achieved for Emo-DB and IITKGPSEHSC, respectively. This study provides new benchmarks for both datasets, demonstrating the feasibility and relevance of the presented SER technique. © 2021 IEEE.
