Virtual museum is a place where users can explore museum collection freely. In this study, we are discussing the 3D interactions presented in a virtual museum application using hand-sensing sensor named Leap Motion. In making 3D interaction, some hand gestures are needed to functions any interact in virtual world. To prevent miss-occurring in 3D interaction, it is necessary to do a hand pattern classification to improve accuracy and make it more precision so as not to reduce the quality of immersion in the virtual world. The classification method used in this study is K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) classification methods. KNN is a method that is quite popular and simple. The first step is data acquisition processing that is used as training data using Leap Motion Controller which takes vector value data (x, y, z) from each fingertip. Then the data normalization process is carried out to facilitate the next process which is feature extraction process. Features are being extracted including angle value between fingers, angle value between fingertips, angle between fingertips and palms, distance vector between fingertips and palms, and elevation value between fingertips and palms. After that, extracted data are being trained and classified using K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN).

A major population of 3 rd world countries have problems reading out texts because of the low literacy rate. While smartphones have given them a hope to lead a better life, interacting with them needs a certain level of literacy which a majority of them lack. Given the rapid growth of variation in this user base, it is evident that interactive graphical representations can give a better understanding of contents especially to the children and to the illiterate people. This work emphasizes on making the Google Play App Store more usable as this is the most used app for smartphone users. In this study, new icons have been designed and then compared side by side with 16 existing Google Play Store app category icons to initially find out the legitimacy of the new icons. Further, a survey between smartphone users has been conducted and the results show that the new icons fare better while representing app categories. Based on the survey results and more widely accepted icons, some key factors to design icons have been identified.

Scholarship is something that is expected by each student, so that when there is an opportunity to obtain scholarships, many students who register themselves to the study program, then Head and staff of the study program will select according to specified criteria. From years ago, criteria for getting scholarships is almost similar, so that the criterias have similarities between previous data and the data of the new criteria. Case Based Reasoning is one method that is capable for reasoning or solve the problems based on old knowledge. Beside that, knowledge of CBR also be dynamic. This study to apply CBR approach for determine the feasibility students of schola rships recipient. There are five criteria or features that serve as references for the proper or improper to get a PPA and BBM scholarship. The process of calculating the similarity between the previous cases and new cases using nearest neighbord. Three output of system is the eligible PPA, the eligble BBM, and does not deserve a scholarship. Testing was conducted using 20 cases stored in the case base and the data 98 cases who made as a new case. Testing is done with two scenarios. The first scenario with case base system that is able to produce the correct decision with 82,65%. Second scenario with rule base decision correct 77,75 %, thirth scenario using combination rule and case decision correct 93,88 % and scenario four decision correct 100%. © 2018 IEEE.

Facial expressions form a universal language of emotions, which can instantly express a wide range of emotional states and feelings. The analysis of facial expressions and the accurate recognition of their emotional content are highly desired and assistive in a wide spectrum of domains. In this paper, we present a work on the analysis of facial expressions and the recognition of emotions using an approach that is based on adaptive neuro fuzzy inference systems. Initially, given a new image, human faces are detected using the Viola-Jones algorithm. Then, facial expressions are analyzed and facial deformations of specific regions such as eyes, eyebrows and mouth are located and then characteristics such as locations, length, width and shape are extracted. The feature vectors represent the deformations of the facial expression and based on them the emotional content of the facial expressions is recognized using an approach that is based on adaptive neuro fuzzy inference systems. An evaluation study was conducted on the JAFFE database and the results collected were very encouraging indicating that the approach is efficient and accurate in analyzing facial expressions and recognizing their emotional content. © 2018 IEEE.

Designing robotic and autonomous systems requires diverse skills from various engineering disciplines such as electronics, mechatronics, control and signal processing together with state of the art computer science such as software architecture, algorithms and datastructures or artificial intelligence. In order to address current and future technological and societal challenges, a novel consecutive set of bachelor and master study programs in "Robotics and Autonomous Systems" got established at the University of Lubeck in 2016. The program aims to cater to academia's and the industry's increasing demand for highly qualified experts in this emerging intersection of disciplines. In the three registration periods in 2016, 2017, and 2018, the program was exceptionally well-received. The program evolved out of an established computer science major degree in "Robotics and Automation" into a standalone study program by incorporating innovative new courses from important current research fields handled by freshly hired professors with backgrounds in medical support systems, machine learning and mobile swarm robotics. Ethical and societal challenges associated with autonomous systems are addressed by a course building on project-based innovative teaching methods and public engagement.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology is easy to find even almost all instant messaging mobile applications already have features such as voice calls. The VoIP feature can only be used after the user is connected to the internet network, for the average smartphone user to use the internet network provided by the internet service provider (ISP). The VoIP is very dependent on the network used. Quality of Service (QoS) parameters such as delay, jitter, throughput and packet loss be used to measure the quality of the network. This study aims to analyze the performance of VoIP technology in one of the instant messaging mobile applications like WhatsApp uses Telkomsel ISP network and be adapted to International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T G.114) standards. Results of the research, the highest of delay generated by voice calls during indoor conditions is 56,6 ms, jitter is the most resulted voice call when the indoor condition is 0,5 ms, packet loss is the most generated voice call when the indoor condition is 7%. The resulting throughput in the voice call testing process is between 25.2 Mbps until 28.1 Mbps. © 2018 IEEE.

Usability is a key factor that determines the success of a management software or interactive system, like student academic portal. The increasing usage of a portal requires usability evaluation method that is more accurate and effective to found usability problem, so it can be used for management service improvement in the academic process. The study aims to analyze the feasibility level of using a student academic portal. There are two methods that we using to find problems of convenience, i.e. Think Aloud Evaluation (TA), and Heuristic Evaluation. The study has resulted in the main factors affect the service capabilities of a student academic portal, revealing all the strengths and weaknesses of the portal based on the user's perceptions of the system. © 2018 IEEE.

Road accident which is caused vehicle collision is still big problem in Indonesia. Beside that, research of smart vehicle is still limit because not many supports to do it. Based on these two problems, the development of smart vehicle which exploits camera as collision detection to avoid accident is quite challenging. Speed identification may be a one of collision detection feature. Objective of this paper is to implement color magnification to vehicle object in video to improve speed identification result which is useful for safety feature in smart vehicle development. However, acquiring of speed data accuracy is still a challenging in researchers. Implementation of color magnification to vehicle objects that are captured by smart vehicle camera is an interesting concept that needs to be performed. Although there comes some different speed value that resulted from color magnification and non-color magnification implementation, it still be a compromise technique to achieve better result with some improvements in the next activity. © 2018 IEEE.

The robot manipulator ability in maintaining its acceleration is very important due to its duties for having physical task such as moving the object and throwing the object. However the disturbance from the external system can be influenced to the accuracy which can reduce the robotic performance. Therefore the accuracy in doing the task should be constantly stable. Adding control mechanishm for keeping its acceleration is the solution for improving the robotic performance. In this paper, we propose control system for shuttlecock thrower robotic which is adopted for ABU ROBOCON 2018 themes. This control system is used for maintaining the acceleration and the elevationin throwing process can reach the specified target. Mechanical modification as well as the weight of object being thrown is also can be affected to the system. The proposed system is using Proportional, Integral and Derivative (PID) based on cuckoo search algorithm (CSA). The function of PID control is keeping the acceleration constantly in specified elevation. While the CSA can simplify the tunning PID control when it has some parameter modification. The result of this paper is robust control system from the disturbance which is applied in shuttlecock thrower robotic based its manipulation. © 2018 IEEE.

This paper describes a novel design of a threshold logic gate (a binary perceptron) and its implementation as a standard cell. This new cell structure, referred to as flash threshold logic (FTL), uses floating gate (flash) transistors to realize the weights associated with a threshold function. The threshold voltages of the flash transistors serve as proxy for the weights. An FTL cell can be equivalently viewed as a multi-input, edge-triggered flipflop which computes a threshold function on a clock edge. Consequently it can used in automatic synthesis of ASICs. The use of flash transistors in the FTL cell allows programming of the weights after fabrication, thereby preventing discovery of its function by a foundry or by reverse engineering. This paper focuses on the design and characteristics of the FTL cell. We present a novel method for programming the weights of an FTL cell for a specified threshold function using a modified perceptron learning algorithm. The algorithm is further extended to select weights to maximize the robustness of the design in the presence of process variations. The FTL circuit was designed in 40nm technology and simulations with layout-extracted parasitics included, demonstrate significant improvements in area (79.7%), power (61.1%), and performance (42.5%) when compared to the equivalent implementations of the same function in conventional static CMOS design. Weight selection targeting robustness is demonstrated using Monte Carlo simulations. The paper also shows how FTL cells can be used for fixing timing errors after fabrication.
