Indonesia is a disaster-prone country. One of the main problems related to disaster in Indonesia is that the country does not yet have a good disaster management that can function optimally in responding to disaster. Therefore, this research is aimed to produce a system that can provide emergency response for disaster management using mobile data collection system. This system would provide crucial and immediate information needed by the decision makers to decide emergency response and recovery procedure. This is a research and development research. The data assessment process is carried out by the assessor at the disaster location using ODK collect. The data then is saved in a mobile communication device. Data can be uploaded by the disaster server network when the connectivity is available. Assessment data can be viewed on the application server through a web admin. The system was generated by considering the law of the state of Indonesia no. 24 Year 2007 concerning disaster management agency planning and regulation by Head of BNPB (Indonesia National Board for Disaster Management) No. 9 Year 2008 on the standard procedure for emergency response team of national board for disaster. Data over disaster occurrence, its massive impact, emergency facilities or supplies needed, post-disaster condition, and a missing victim is provided in these queries. After being tested, it appears that the design and implementation of an emergency disaster response system have been able to run satisfactorily according to system specifications.

Polyps are well-known cancer precursors identified by colonoscopy. However, variability in their size, location, and surface largely affect identification, localisation, and characterisation. Moreover, colonoscopic surveillance and removal of polyps (referred to as polypectomy) are highly operator-dependent procedures. There exist a high missed detection rate and incomplete removal of colonic polyps due to their variable nature, the difficulties to delineate the abnormality, the high recurrence rates, and the anatomical topography of the colon. There have been several developments in realising automated methods for both detection and segmentation of these polyps using machine learning. However, the major drawback in most of these methods is their ability to generalise to out-of-sample unseen datasets that come from different centres, modalities and acquisition systems. To test this hypothesis rigorously we curated a multi-centre and multi-population dataset acquired from multiple colonoscopy systems and challenged teams comprising machine learning experts to develop robust automated detection and segmentation methods as part of our crowd-sourcing Endoscopic computer vision challenge (EndoCV) 2021. In this paper, we analyse the detection results of the four top (among seven) teams and the segmentation results of the five top teams (among 16). Our analyses demonstrate that the top-ranking teams concentrated on accuracy (i.e., accuracy > 80% on overall Dice score on different validation sets) over real-time performance required for clinical applicability. We further dissect the methods and provide an experiment-based hypothesis that reveals the need for improved generalisability to tackle diversity present in multi-centre datasets. © 2022, CC BY-NC-SA.

We investigate the performance of an all-optical Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) architecture, that is suitable of supporting high-order regular as well as offset based QAM signals. In the proposed design, a bank of Phase Sensitive Amplifiers (PSAs) is introduced for processing offset QAM signals, while sub-channel extraction is achieved via waveform splitting and coherent subtraction. Successful performance is demonstrated for up to 32-QAM signals.

Facial expressions form a universal language of emotions, which can instantly express a wide range of emotional states and feelings. The analysis of facial expressions and the accurate recognition of their emotional content are highly desired and assistive in a wide spectrum of domains. In this paper, we present a work on the analysis of facial expressions and the recognition of emotions using an approach that is based on adaptive neuro fuzzy inference systems. Initially, given a new image, human faces are detected using the Viola-Jones algorithm. Then, facial expressions are analyzed and facial deformations of specific regions such as eyes, eyebrows and mouth are located and then characteristics such as locations, length, width and shape are extracted. The feature vectors represent the deformations of the facial expression and based on them the emotional content of the facial expressions is recognized using an approach that is based on adaptive neuro fuzzy inference systems. An evaluation study was conducted on the JAFFE database and the results collected were very encouraging indicating that the approach is efficient and accurate in analyzing facial expressions and recognizing their emotional content.

A dual band slot dipole antenna integrated with an AMC plane is proposed to reduce SAR when operated on body for WBAN applications. The AMC plane is formed using a 3 × 3 array of unit cells, each consisting of a square patch integrated with diamond-shaped slot. Results indicate that the antenna provides wide upper bandwidth up to 600 MHz (in flat condition) and up to 570 MHz when bent. Besides that, its front-To-back ratio (FBR) is also improved. © 2019 ACES.

The Keystroke Level Model (KLM) and Fitts' Law constitute core teaching subjects in most HCI courses, as well as many courses on software design and evaluation. The KLM Form Analyzer (KLM-FA) has been introduced as a practitioner's tool to facilitate web form design and evaluation, based on these established HCI predictive models. It was also hypothesized that KLMFA can also be used for educational purposes, since it provides step-by-step tracing of the KLM modeling for any web form filling task, according to various interaction strategies or users' characteristics. In our previous work, we found that KLM-FA supports teaching and learning of HCI modeling in the context of distance education. This paper reports a study investigating the learning effectiveness of KLM-FA in the context of campus-based higher education. Students of a software quality course completed a knowledge test after the lecturebased instruction (pre-test condition) and after being involved in a KLMFA mediated learning activity (post-test condition). They also provided posttest ratings for their educational experience and the tool's usability. Results showed that KLM-FA can significantly improve learning of the HCI modeling. In addition, participating students rated their perceived educational experience as very satisfactory and the perceived usability of KLM-FA as good to excellent. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. Patients with a large number of health care encounters receive great attention in health care research because their expensive and problematic health care utilization has important implications for the US health care system. The large volume of emergency department (ED) visits and inpatient hospital stays through time provides a unique opportunity to apply data-driven methods for identifying temporal signals associated with these patients. The micro variations in the inter-arrival time of these encounters within this population are not well-studied. Computational approaches for distinguishing various temporal visiting patterns leads to the problem of efficiently clustering asynchronous time series. Thus, we propose a Wasserstein distance based spectral clustering for this problem. Asynchronous time series are first represented as histograms of inter-arrival time and their pairwise similarities are computed under Wasserstein distance. Spectral clustering operates on the similarity matrix as input thereby avoiding the computational bottleneck of Wasserstein barycenters. The effectiveness of this method is demonstrated by synthetic data and application to a large real world health insurance encounters dataset, identifying potential associations between temporal visiting patterns and health factors from a population of frequent ED and inpatient hospital users.

Gaze behavior is an important non-verbal cue in social signal processing and human-computer interaction. In this paper, we tackle the problem of person- and head pose-independent 3D gaze estimation from remote cameras, using a multi-modal recurrent convolutional neural network (CNN). We propose to combine face, eyes region, and face landmarks as individual streams in a CNN to estimate gaze in still images. Then, we exploit the dynamic nature of gaze by feeding the learned features of all the frames in a sequence to a many-to-one recurrent module that predicts the 3D gaze vector of the last frame. Our multi-modal static solution is evaluated on a wide range of head poses and gaze directions, achieving a significant improvement of 14.6% over the state of the art on EYEDIAP dataset, further improved by 4% when the temporal modality is included. Measurement of heartbeat is very important to know the pathological condition of a person. Heartbeat can also indicate that a person is at high risk of heart disease. This paper describes on development of a prototype of heartbeat meter using DFR0052 vibration sensor, ATmega 16 microcontroller, and android based smartphone. It provides a real time heartbeat calculation and gives an alert if an anomaly occurs in the heartbeat. A vibration sensor which placed at the certain position will detect the heartbeat and send the data into the microcontroller. Furthermore, the heartbeat data is delivered to and displayed in an android based smartphone via bluetooth module connected to microcontroller output. The experimental results show that the proposed heartbeat meter is a good accuracy compared to the commercial heartbeat meter so called pulse oximeter. The average of error percentage is approximately 0.69 %.
