This paper proposes a current sensorless permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive scheme based on deadbeat predictive control in which a space vector pulse modulator is introduced for feedback currents to track reference currents accurately. Current sensors are omitted by replacing actual currents with predicted currents, thus only a position sensor is needed and a low-cost servo system is achieved. PI control is adopted for the speed loop. Simulation comparisons between control with current sensors and current sensorless control under external disturbances or parameter inconsistency are conducted to indicate that the performance of current sensorless control is almost the same as that of control with current sensors when the prediction model is accurate. © 2024 IEEE.

With the rapid advancement of electronic textiles, the design and integration of connectors have emerged as pivotal challenges. This study emphasizes the development of a connection solution that amalgamates miniaturization, efficiency, and reliability, specifically tailored for Flexible Conductive Silicone Circuits. A diversified connection scheme is proposed, incorporating elements such as snaps, Pogo pins, and conductive hook-and-loop fasteners, thereby achieving an innovative and pragmatic design. Through meticulous manufacturing processes, including the utilization of hot-melt adhesive, PET films, conductive fabric, and other multilayer materials, a connection system with low impedance and commendable conductivity was successfully engineered. Impedance test outcomes have indicated that the resistance at each connection point is less than 0.7 ohms, substantiating its superior electrical properties. In terms of assembly, this research demonstrates the precise interconnection of the controller and conductive fabric circuit, ensured by metal pin technology, leading to connection stability. This solution not only furnishes appropriate connection technology for specific application scenarios but also opens new avenues and directions for connection design within the domain of electronic textiles. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we consider the problem of online learning with convex objectives. Most of the existing work shows that static and dynamic regrets scale logarithmically or sub-linearly with the time horizon T. On the contrary, for the strongly convex setting, it is shown that the static and dynamic regrets scale with the variation term that measures the rate at which the function changes over time. In the convex setting, we show that a simple Online Gradient Descent (OGD) algorithm with single round at each time achieves a regret that is comparable with the strongly convex setting with an additional assumption of Quadratic Growth (QG) condition. More specifically, we show that the static and dynamic regrets scale as O(Var3(T)) and O(Var1(T)) + O(Var2(T)), respectively. Here, Vari, i = 1, 2, 3 represent variation terms that capture different aspects of changes in the optimal solution over time. We use experiments to corroborate some of our theoretical findings. © 2025 IEEE.

We introduce a method to evaluate the similarities between classes of objects based on the confusion matrices coming from the multi-class machine learning (ML) predictors that operate in the vector space generated by the classes. Operation in the confusion domain allows us to use the distance as evaluation metric of the closeness of the relevant properties carried by the classes. We applied the method to semiquantitatively evaluate the effects of X-ray and carbon ion radiation on cultured SW1353 chondrosarcoma cells with respect to the non-irradiated reference. We prove that it is possible to draw useful information on the strength of cells nuclei changes. © 2025, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we propose 'S-POS', an 8× 8 S-box as a more secure alternative to Snow 3G's existing S2 S-box. By leveraging the product of the sum (POS) of power functions in GF28), S-POS demonstrates superior performance in key metrics such as differential uniformity (DU), non-linearity (NL), and algebraic immunity (AI) compared to the traditional S2-box. Additionally, differential and linear cryptanalysis reveals that S-POS enhances the keystream's randomness, supporting its potential as a replacement for the current S2-box in the Snow 3G stream cipher. © 2024 IEEE.

The proposed IoT-based Smart Security Solution (IoT-SSS) for CCTV and network nodes addresses the challenges of high data volume management, power consumption, and cost inefficiency in traditional security systems. Leveraging Python's image processing for motion detection via passive infrared (PIR) sensors, IoT-SSS intelligently stamps video recordings and sensor data, activating only when necessary. This method ensures data is initially saved on local storage, significantly reducing the need for continuous recording and, thereby, minimizing power usage and storage demands. When data hits a pre-defined threshold, influenced by location sensitivity, it's automatically uploaded to the cloud, further optimizing storage needs and eliminating manual intervention. This smart approach not only conserves energy by powering down inactive devices but also slashes maintenance costs. Time, date, and sensor information are embedded directly onto each video frame, facilitating easy review without excessive data overload. Simulation results demonstrate that IoT-SSS outperforms traditional security systems in terms of data storage efficiency and power consumption, offering a cost-effective and energy-efficient alternative for modern security needs. © 2024 IEEE.

Autonomous driving in high-speed racing, as opposed to urban environments, presents significant challenges in scene understanding due to rapid changes in the track environment. Traditional sequential network approaches may struggle to meet the real-time knowledge and decision-making demands of an autonomous agent covering large displacements in a short time. This paper proposes a novel baseline architecture for developing sophisticated models capable of true hardware-enabled parallelism, achieving neural processing speeds that mirror the agent's high velocity. The proposed model (Parallel Perception Network (PPN)) consists of two independent neural networks, segmentation and reconstruction networks, running parallelly on separate accelerated hardware. The model takes raw 3D point cloud data from the LiDAR sensor as input and converts it into a 2D Bird's Eye View Map on both devices. Each network independently extracts its input features along space and time dimensions and produces outputs parallelly. The proposed method's model is trained on a system with two NVIDIA T4 GPUs, using a combination of loss functions, including edge preservation, and demonstrates a 2x speedup in model inference time compared to a sequential configuration. Quantum technology offers a transformative approach to solving complex computational challenges in decentralized systems, particularly in blockchain transaction scheduling. Efficient transaction scheduling is critical in distributed ledger systems, which often face challenges like dynamic transaction loads. This work proposes a novel approach namely Hybrid Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (HQAOA) which combines Multi-Agent QAOA (MA-QAOA) and Adaptive Layer QAOA (AL-QAOA) to provide a robust solution to such issues. HQAOA leverages a decentralized optimization framework where multiple agents, each representing a node in the network, optimize local transaction scheduling while considering global constraints. Additionally, HQAOA adapts to varying transaction loads by dynamically adjusting the number of quantum layers for each agent, ensuring computational efficiency under different conditions. Such dynamic layer adjustment mechanisms mitigate the adverse effects of quantum noise and ensures optimal performance in scenarios with fluctuating transaction loads. In contrast to traditional QAOA, which struggles with noise and scaling issues, HQAOA provides improved performance by balancing the complexity of the problem with available quantum resources. Experimental results signify the future potential of HQAOA to outperform QAOA, particularly in noisy environments and irregular transaction conditions. This work demonstrates the potential of HQAOA to optimize blockchain transaction scheduling in decentralized systems. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper presents a compact planar ultrawideband (UWB) band-pass filter (BPF). Initially, it employs a compact BPF with a reversible notched band to reject unwanted signals. The second phase entails determining and establishing the conventional microstrip feed's input impedance at a fixed value of 50 ohms. Then, to eliminate the unwanted signal, a triangle-shaped patch is etched from an L-shaped parallel linked transmission line. The bottom part of the BPF receives grounding. The BPF is designed, simulated, and fabricated in the laboratory. The measured fractional impedance bandwidth of 4.42 and 25.83%, minimum insertion loss of 1.40 and 0.32 dB, and minimum total loss of 15 and 8%, along with flat group delay at first and second resonant frequencies, respectively. Notably, BPF exhibits minimal loss, exceptionally low distortion, and acceptable speed. It demonstrates that the simulation and experimental results support the conclusions. The proposed BPF is suitable for S/C-band applications. © 2024 IEEE.
