Modeling trajectories in cigarette smoking prevalence, initiation and quitting for populations and subgroups of populations is important for policy planning and evaluation. This paper proposes an agent-based model (ABM) design for simulating the smoking behaviors of a population using the Capability, Opportunity, Motivation - Behavior (COM-B) model. Capability, Opportunity and Motivation are modeled as latent composite attributes which are composed of observable factors associated with smoking behaviors. Three forms of the COM-B model are proposed to explain the transitions between smoking behaviors: initiating regular smoking uptake, making a quit attempt and quitting successfully. The ABM design follows object-oriented principles and extends an existing generic software architecture for mechanism-based modeling. The potential of the model to assess the impact of smoking policies is illustrated and discussed. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a study for optimizing a hot rolling mill. The paper is devoted to the study of ways to reduce the effect of shock loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing mill group on the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling stands of the finishing mill group. The elasticity of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling mill has a significant impact on the movement of intercoupled multi-motor electric drives of the finishing mill group. Another crucial route of exposure that influences the motion of the electric drives within the finishing mill group involves the electromagnetic connection between the drives in the roughing and finishing mill groups. The impact of the electromagnetically connected circuits is evident through the effect of shock loads from synchronous electric drives on the angular velocity of the direct current electric drives within the finishing mill group. The characteristics of the electromagnetic communication circuit are established by the power grid arrangement and equipment specifications. To assess the quality of work of electric drives of the finishing mill group, it is proposed to use the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap, which is an important indirect indicator of the quality of rolling. The mathematical model of a hot rolling mill that takes into account both the elasticity of the metal strip that connects the DC electric drives of the finishing group, and the electromagnetic coupling circuit that takes into account the impact loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing group on the example of the mill 1700 of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC was proposed in this paper. Purpose. The aim of this work is to compare the effectiveness of various methods for correcting cell failures in cascade high voltage frequency converters. These methods provide the smallest voltage drop on the motor, the least loads and oscillation of electromagnetic torque in an accident modes, and evaluate the effectiveness of pulse width modulation (PWM) methods with the injection of third harmonic and space-vector PWM in normal and emergency modes. Methodology. We use mathematical and geometrical interpretation of all analysed methods - Sinusoidal PWM (SPWM), Balanced sinusoidal PWM (BSPWM), Balanced PWM with injected 3rd harmonic (THPWM) and Balanced Space Vector PWM (SVPWM). Results. The method of balancing the phase-to-phase voltages by to such a shift of the zero point and rotation of the phase vectors, in which the amplitude of the phase-to-phase voltage decreases to the minimum possible value. Injection of the 3rd harmonic allows you to further increase the utilisation factor of power supplies in terms of voltage. But the violation of the symmetry of the phase voltages leads to the need to reduce the voltage amplitude to exclude saturation of the power supplies, which reduces this coefficient compared to the theoretically possible 15.6%. A distinctive feature of the method of balanced Space Vector PWM is that the amplitude of the 1st harmonic is always greater than the radius of the circle by 15.6%. Comparison of methods of space vector PWM (SVPWM), balancing of phase-to-phase voltage with the injection of the 3rd harmonic (THPWM) with sinusoidal PWM shows that SVPWM is the best method. Despite the more complex mathematical software for the implementation of this method, it provides the best performance in all considered emergency modes of 3...6 cascade converters. The relevance of the present research is related to the search for promising ideas for increasing the maximum slew rate of the output voltage ($\text{SR}_{\text{M}}$) of new-generation operational amplifiers (OpAmps). Proposed circuit techniques that provide (with simultaneous use) an increase in $\text{SR}_{\text{M}}$ by more than 2 orders of magnitude. Such high-speed operational amplifiers are in demand today for application in drivers of high-speed ADCs (AD9208, AD9691, etc.), and as active elements in circuits of analog-to-discrete filters on switched capacitors. It is proposed to introduce (according to the developed rules) a nonlinear differentiating RC-circuit realized based on an additional differential stage and a differentiating capacitor of small capacitance into the classical OpAmps with one integrating correction capacitance. Such circuit "additives" practically do not change the low-signal dynamic and static parameters of the OpAmp, and at a large signal during the transient front, when the input stage enters the nonlinear mode, form a large current overcharge of the integrating correction capacitor. Consequently, the $\text{SR}_{\text{M}}$ of the OpAmp is significantly increased.

In this paper, a generalized likelihood ratio based detection algorithm with a statistical method for threshold setting is proposed to detect cyber-attacks on a unified remote control architecture. Based on an encoder and a decoder embedded on plant side and remote controller side, respectively, not only additive interrupted signal (only effecting output or input signal), but also multiplicative attack signal could be detected easily. Finally, three numerical examples are provided to validate our proposed scheme.

This paper presents client-server mobile system for diagnosis of asynchronous motors. The system is created as a mobile application for smartphones and tablets. The system provides processing of the measured values of the currents and voltages of the stator phases of the asynchronous motor. According to the processing results, the results of diagnostics and forecasting of the current state of asynchronous motors are calculated. The software runs on the Android OS. The main purpose is to predict the current state of AD, which has a parametric electromagnetic asymmetry of the stator phases. © 2023 IEEE.

The paper presents a promising method of increasing by more than an order of magnitude the maximum slew rate (SR) of integrated operational amplifiers (OpAmps) based on two-cycle “folded“ cascodes. This method is based on the introduction of special differentiating transient correction circuits into the classical circuits of OpAmps. Developed on the basis of the MH2XA031 array chip, the high-speed OpAmp is recommended for practical use in the subclass of so-called discrete-analog SC-filters on switched capacitors, for which (in some important cases) higher SR values are required. The effect of significantly improving the OpAmp’s speed is to provide higher output current levels of the two-cycle “folded” cascode that recharges the integrating correction capacitor during the transient edge. The OpAmp’s speed performance in the large-signal mode is increased from $248.7 \mathrm{~V} / \mu \mathrm{s}$ to $4148 \mathrm{~V} / \mu \mathrm{s}$ as a result of this.

In this paper, moment matching-based loop shaping design for finite-dimensional linear systems is considered. First, the time-domain moment matching model reduction problem with complex-conjugated pole-zero placement is revisited. We explicitly calculate the free parameters such that the reduced order model, achieving moment-matching at complex-conjugated interpolation points, has pairs of complex-conjugated poles and zeros placed in desired locations. Then, we recast the problem of closed-loop pole placement in terms of moment-matching, with the moments equal to −1 and 0, respectively. Consequently, the free parameters of a model achieving both moment matching at complex-conjugated points and closed-loop pole placement at prescribed locations are determined. Furthermore, we combine the classical loop shaping method with closed-loop pole placement via moment matching to design a robust controller for stable, minimum-phase, proper systems. We illustrate the proposed moment matching-based loop shaping approach on a benchmark example.

A circuit design of a high-speed CBJT operational amplifier (OpAmp) based on an “folded” cascode is proposed, in which a differentiating transient correction circuit is introduced to increase the maximum slew rate of the output voltage (SR). The considered OpAmp is intended for use in a subclass of so-called discrete-to-analog SC filters on switched capacitors, where (in some important cases) higher SR values of the OpAmp are required. In addition, such high-speed OpAmps are in demand in drivers of high-speed analog-to-digital converters and other devices of automatics and computer engineering. Computer simulation in LTSpice environment shows that the proposed CBJT OpAmp circuit designs for micron silicon technological processes provide SR increase from 45.8 V/μs to 18000 V/μs.
