In this paper we present a novel rule-based, language independent method for determining lexical entailment relations using semantic representations built from Wiktionary definitions. Combined with a simple WordNet-based method our system achieves top scores on the English and Italian datasets of the Semeval-2020 task "Predicting Multilingual and Cross-lingual (graded) Lexical Entailment" (Glavaš et al., 2020). The Surface Realization Shared Task involves mapping universal Dependency graphs to raw text, i.e. restoring word order and inflection from a graph of typed, directed dependencies between lemmas. Interpreted Regular Tree Grammars (IRTGs) encode the correspondence between generations in multiple algebras, and have previously been used for semantic parsing from raw text. Our system induces an IRTG for simultaneously building pairs of surface forms and uD graphs in the SR'19 training data, then prunes this grammar for each uD graph in the test data for efficient parsing and generation of the surface ordering of lemmas. For the inflection step we use a standard sequence-to-sequence model with a biLSTM encoder and an LSTM decoder with attention. Both components of our system are available on GitHub under an MIT license. © 2019 Association for Computational Linguistics.

The optimality in a generic two-degree of freedom control system can be decomposed into three major steps, because the control error has three major parts: design-, realizability- and modeling-loss. The second term can be made zero for inverse stable processes only. This decomposition opens new ways for practical optimization of two-degree-of-freedom ( TDOF ) systems and helps the construction of new algorithms for robust identification and control. It is more reasonable to teach the optimization of control systems using these components.

In a practical control system the process always has a time delay. The uncertainty in the knowledge of the time delay i.e. the delay mismatch strongly influences the quality of the closed-loop control. It can cause unwanted instability and influences the robustness of the control. Stability region applicable for this uncertainty is investigated in this paper in connection with the required performance and robustness. © 2018

This paper introduces a new five level resonant DC/DC converter and examines its operation in steady-state symmetrical conditions in discontinous current conduction mode. The converter has four outputs, which can provide four equivalent voltage levels or four different ones as well. It has several advantages such as improved performance at high efficiency and lower EMI. By using this converter, zero voltage and zero current switching is possible which helps reducing the swtiching losses. The most important relations among the input, output, and control variables will be derived and verified by simulation results. Three control variables will be examined in the paper, switching angle α_p[°], capacitor peak voltage V_c~* [pu] and switching frequency f_s~* [pu]. Parameters V_c~* and α_p are dependent variables, while f_s is independent of them. This converter can be applied in uPS systems or in multi-level inverter drives as well.

Multi-cell lithium-ion batteries must be balanced in order to avoid severe cell charge imbalances, which reduce the apparent capacity of the battery pack. Nowadays active balancing methods are gaining popularity in spite of having potential to result in less beneficial outcome in certain situations. In this paper a balancing design selection guide will be presented in an application oriented way. The importance of proper balancing strategy selection will be demonstrated with an in depth simulation of different passive and active designs.

The typical fundamental frequency of a high speed machine and the limited switching frequency lead to low pulse ratio in inverter fed drives. To obtain a good harmonic performance at low pulse ratio an optimal PWM technique is introduced in the paper. The optimization is done for the lowest loss-factor, which is proportional to the square of rms value of current harmonics. Calculation is done for the whole modulation region for different voltage vector sequences at several pulse ratios up to 59. The performance of the optimal PWM technique is demonstrated by experimental tests.

Systems and control are all around us. System view, understanding systems and how they are controlled is important for everyone. The behavior of systems is determined by some fundamental principles which can be understood by everyone. The main principles governing systems and control are presented on different levels. The first level is dedicated for everyone. Comics-like interpretation is provided with explanations. The second level discusses the main topics dedicated for the interested students. Several case studies demonstrate how system view is considered in different areas of life. With this approach systems in different areas of life could be better understood contributing to better decisions influencing their performance. The third level provides deeper insight into some aspects of modern mathematical system theory, to geometric view of control systems. The material is available on a website on the internet. © 2016

We present a state-of-the-art algorithm for measuring the semantic similarity of word pairs using novel combinations of word embeddings, WordNet, and the concept dictionary 4lang. We evaluate our system on the SimLex-999 benchmark data. Our top score of 0.76 is higher than any published system that we are aware of, well beyond the average inter-annotator agreement of 0.67, and close to the 0.78 average correlation between a human rater and the average of all other ratings, suggesting that our system has achieved nearhuman performance on this benchmark. © 2016 Proceedings of the Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics. Two optimized PWM techniques for the overmodulation region of two-level inverter-fed ac drives are investigated from harmonic loss minimization point of view. The optimization is elaborated for the lowest loss-factor, which is proportional to the square of rms value of current harmonics. The loss-factors are computed for different switching numbers as the function of the motor fundamental voltage. It is shown that, respect to the motor heating and torque ripples, the acceptable drive condition can be guaranteed by relatively low value of inverter switching frequency up to 96-97% of maximal possible motor voltage. Furthermore, it is shown that, the so-called Three vector method, introduced in the paper, has considerably better performance in the lower part of the overmodulation region than the so-called Two vector method or the standard PWM techniques for the same number of switching. The theoretical results are verified by experimental tests.
