computer science (CS) is a rapidly evolving field of knowledge with a significant volume and significance of scientific papers. Consequently, meticulous management and categorization of CS papers are crucial to ensure efficient access and retrieval of relevant information. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of eight traditional machine learning models, as well as Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) models, such as LSTM and BiLSTM, and state-of-the-art pre-trained self-attention-based natural language processing (NLP) models, including BERT, XLNet, RoBERTa, and DistilBERT, for the task of multi-label classification of arXiv CS paper classification. The results demonstrate that pre-trained self-attention-based models consistently outperform the other models regarding classification performance. Moreover, self-attention-based models exhibited superior performance and achieved a new state-of-the-art result. To the best of our knowledge, our paper represents the first endeavor to evaluate machine learning models, specifically on computer science-related documents, as part of a multi-label classification task.

Despite being beneficial for rapid delivery of software, Kubernetes deployments can be susceptible to security attacks, which can cause serious consequences. A systematic characterization of how community-prescribed security configurations, i.e., security configurations that are recommended by security experts, can aid practitioners to secure their Kubernetes deployments. To that end, we conduct an empirical study with 53 security configurations recommended by the Center for Internet Security (CIS), 20 survey respondents, and 544 configuration files obtained from the open source software (OSS) and proprietary domains. From our empirical study, we observe: (i) practitioners can be unaware of prescribed security configurations as $5 \% \sim 40 {\%}$ of the survey respondents are unfamiliar with 16 prescribed configurations; and (ii) for Company-A and OSS respectively, 18.0% and 17.9% of the configuration files include at least one violation of prescribed configurations. From our evaluation with 5 static application security testing (SAST) tools we find (i) only Kubescape to support all of the prescribed security configuration categories; (ii) the highest observed precision to be 0.41 and 0.43 respectively, for the Company-A and OSS datasets; and (iii) the highest observed recall to be respectively, 0.53 and 0.65 for the Company-A and OSS datasets. Our findings show a disconnect between what CIS experts recommend for Kubernetes-related configurations and what happens in practice. We conclude the paper by providing recommendations for practitioners and researchers. Dataset used for the paper is publicly available online.

This paper presents a novel fifteen-level two-source inverter topology that is reliable against source outages. The topology has two DC sources, a total of ten switches, and four DC-link capacitors. Level-shifted PWM is used to generate the required number of levels. Simulations are performed for normal operation as well as for the source outage conditions. The proposed topology is able to generate multi-level output waveform satisfactorily even at the advent of source outages. The simulation results for the source outages are presented for both static and dynamic conditions along with the THD measurements.

Depression is a medical syndrome that is often neglected and considered not as significant as physical illness due to lack of awareness and knowledge, but it should be treated in early stages to avoid extreme cases such as suicide. Therefore, Machine Learning Algorithms (MLA) are used to detect depression primitively to avoid extreme hazards. In-ternational Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards are essential for designing metrics in MLA as they ensure global consistency, quality assurance, and objective benchmark, enhancing credibility and reliability of the model. Although there is no proper standard design level quality metric is defined for MLA. Therefore, in this study, ISO 9126 standard is used to make as a quality standard considering functionality parameter of MLA design. These metrics are used to evaluate at the design level of MLA such as evaluation of dataset, preprocessing, MLA, and results. We have provide comparative analysis of MLA with partial functionality compliance with full ISO functionality conformance. In this study, MLA with ISO have significance compliance which is promising, where the raw data added to MLA to get the output and or the other hand all the steps are performed. The results clearly show that proposed model of MLA design metrics are out-performed provides 28% better results in terms of evaluations. Furthermore, the proposed design quality metrics can be used as the standard for the MLA domain.

Prostate cancer is a widespread disease in men worldwide, posing challenges in early detection due to its diverse nature and the limitations of current diagnostic techniques. In this study, we have developed a new method that combines CNNs with Vision Transformers (ViTs) to improve the classification of prostate cancer using MRI images. To address data imbalance and enhance model robustness, we used dual synthetic oversampling techniques and data augmentation methods. Our preprocessing pipeline reduced noise, preserved edges, and improved local contrast without amplifying noise. For feature extraction, we utilized the GrayLevel Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) and shape-based features to represent complex MRI data better. Among the evaluated architectures, ConvNeXt showed the best performance. Using SMOTE, it achieved an F1-score of 97.21% and a MCC of 95.32%. With ADASYN, performance improved further, reaching an F1-score of 98.82% and an MCC of 97.86%. Additionally, we created a web-based application for realtime analysis of prostate MRI scans, which can aid in clinical decision-making. These results demonstrate the potential of our approach to improve the accuracy of prostate cancer diagnosis and provide an interpretable model for clinical use.

This paper delves into the application and capabilities of machine learning methodologies in forecasting poverty scenarios, underlining the importance of varied data sources, along with the interpretability and explainability of models to refine the precision and transparency of poverty prediction mechanisms. It primarily utilizes an iteration of the LightGBM algorithm to infer poverty stages premised on household variables. This investigation showcases the potential of machine learning methodologies in poverty estimation, elucidating the relevance of additional, diverse data resources, and the critical role of model interpretability in enhancing model accuracy and clarity. The LightGBM version employed in our study demonstrated high efficiency on the validation set, affirming its effectiveness in projecting poverty conditions based on household features. In analyzing SHAP values, we unearthed crucial insights into the contributing elements to poverty. These findings can aid in shaping policies aimed at poverty alleviation and elevating social welfare. Our work provides the basis for future research into poverty prediction and affirms the potential of machine learning methodologies in tackling intricate social challenges. © 2023 IEEE.

The increasing heterogeneity of IoT platforms poses significant challenges to the portability and interoperability of IoT applications. Specifically, our visual block language for IoT generated only platform-specific code, limiting the reusability across different environments. To overcome this limitation, we introduce IoTAIL, an intermediate language designed to decouple front-end visual editors from back-end platform-specific code generators. IoTAIL is built on the foundation of the IoTA calculus and follows an event-condition-action (ECA) structure, providing a platform-independent representation of IoT applications. It extends the ECA model to support device declarations, input/output interactions, timers, and hierarchical device organization, facilitating scalable and modular development. By bridging the visual programming environment with diverse IoT execution platforms, IoTAIL enhances flexibility in IoT system development. Additionally, IoTAIL can incorporate static and dynamic checking mechanisms to detect redundancy, inconsistency, and circular dependencies in IoT rules, ensuring system reliability and integrity. This paper presents the design, features, and potential applications of IoTAIL, highlighting its role in enabling portable and maintainable IoT solutions.

Early detection of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is vital for providing appropriate treatment, which requires accurate diagnosis to identify the types of the disease. Therefore, this study focuses on evaluating the performance of deep learning models in classifying different types of leukemia using three pre-trained CNN models: MobileNet V2, DenseNet201, and EfficientNet, to extract deep features. These features are then combined into a single set. An information exchange technique was used to select the best features after merging, and SMOTEENN was employed to address feature imbalance. The results showed that combining features extracted by the pre-trained CNN models achieved high accuracy and reliability, reaching 99.66%, enhancing the performance in accurately and quickly classifying patients. This approach not only improves diagnostic accuracy but also contributes to accelerating the decision-making process for treatment, enabling doctors to better tailor therapies and thereby improve patient outcomes. The findings underscore the importance of ongoing research in this field and provide future recommendations for enhancing performance and increasing classification accuracy in similar medical applications.

Given the substantial number of accidents because of human error, the development of automatic driver behavior monitoring systems has become a pressing need. By providing real-time monitoring and analysis of driving behavior, these systems have the potential to decrease the incidence of accidents and improve overall road safety. This study presents a novel analysis framework for classifying driving behavior based on data gathered from passengers' smartphones. The data were collected using our mobile application installed on the smartphones and processed using machine learning algorithms. The study utilized several machine learning classification t echniques, w ith a focus on developing a Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) algorithm for improved accuracy. A Federated Learning algorithm was also developed to collect the data not into one area and train a global model to apply for labeling the driving behavior. The results show the efficacy of the proposed approach in accurately classifying driving behavior based on data obtained from smartphones.

One of the most challenging investigations in forensic analysis is the work conducted on smartphones. Specifically using smartphone data to provide evidence for a case is becoming a norm nowadays. Many Android device applications use and work with location services that assist investigators in working with log files that store valuable information. Images captured on Android devices will save geolocation information, date, and time in the properties. In this work, a tool is developed to acquire the date and geolocation for each taken photo so that the path of the photo taker can be displayed on Google Maps. The work showed that the application can take about 4 and a half seconds to process four images and display the map to the investigator.
