To optimize the energy consumption during transmission in a secure remote fingerprint authentication system, most approaches have considered a fixed-rate compression of WSQ(Wavelet Scalar Quantization). To balance the energy consumption and the recognition accuracy, however, we need to consider the total energy consumption during compression/encryption/transmission and the quality of the given image. In this paper, we first develop an energy-accuracy prediction model. Then, from the given image, we can evaluate the quality of it. Finally, from the user's minimum requirement of the recognition accuracy, the energy-optimized compression rate under the requirement can be derived adaptively. Based on the experimental result, we show that total energy consumption of the fixed approach can be reduced by 29%.

Due to increased terrors and crimes, the use of the surveillance system like CCTV is increasing. The surveillance system has been operated for public interest such as prevention of crimes and fly-tipping by the police and local government. However private information such as faces or behavior patterns can be recorded in CCTV, it may cause the invasion of privacy. This paper analyses conventional methods of privacy protection in surveillance camera systems. We propose a video surveillance system that satisfies both privacy protection and surveillance. The proposed system uses the RFID to recognize the human and uses the scrambling to prevent invasion of privacy. Note that the proposed system can reduce invasion of privacy by intensity of scrambling according to access levels. It is able to exactly offer internal or external personnel information of objects to the surveillance. Based on the experimental results, we confirm that the proposed system can be privacy protection and the surveillance.

The Picture Archiving and Communication System(PACS)was introduced for computerization of the medical system and telediagnosis between the hospital. It is becoming possible to create, store, and transmit medical images via PACS. There has been a growing interest in protecting medical images with an enormous amount of information. To improve transmission speed among the hospitals, the medical image should be compression JPEG 2000 by high compression ratio. This paper proposes an algorithM that utilizes both JPEG 2000 and robust watermarking for protection and compression of the medical image. With the proposed algorithm, it takes considerably less time to do JPEG 2000 and watermarking than when they are done separately. Based on the experiment results, it takes 0.72 second for the proposed algorithm and 1.11 second when they are done separately. We confirmed that the proposed algorithM was faster than when they are done separately.

this paper is concerned with a method for designing Quantum-based Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy System with (QANFS) a TSK fuzzy type based on the fuzzy granulation. Here we develop a systematic approach to generating automatic fuzzy rules based on fuzzy subtractive quantum clustering that is an extension of ideas inherent to scale-space clustering and support-vector clustering. Moreover, we develop Linear Regression (LR)-QANFS as an incremental model to deal with localized nonlinearities of the system so that all modeling discrepancies can be compensated. After adopting the construction of the LR as the first global model, we refined it through a series of local fuzzy if-then rules in order to capture the remaining localized characteristics. The experimental results revealed that the proposed LR-QANFS showed a better performance in comparison with radial basis function networks and the linguistic model for a coagulant dosing process in a water purification plant.

We present an Enhanced Independent Component Analysis (EICA) and its application to three-dimensional (3D) object recognition. In general, Independent Component Analysis (ICA) involves unsupervised learning and high-order statistics. We develop an enhancement of the generic ICA by augmenting this method by the Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA). The EICA is systematically developed on its underlying two architectures and cosine similarity. We demonstrate that the presented approach leads to the formation of well-separated classes in low dimension subspace and is endowed with a great deal of insensitivity to large variation in direction of 3D object images. The comprehensive experiments are completed for the COIL 3D object database with 100 classes. The experimental results reveal that EICA comes with improved classification rates when compared with some other conventional approaches such as PCA and ICA.
