This research focuses on the challenge of Sub-event Relation Classification (SERC) in Amharic text, with the objective of identifying relationships between event triggers or mentions in sentences. The aim is to predict sub-event relationships in Amharic sentences, benefiting applications such as information extraction, question answering, and document summarization. Amharic text requires a lot of effort to manually identify event relationships, and there isn't yet a model that specializes in extracting event relationships from Amharic language. Deep learning techniques, particularly LSTM and BiLSTM, are used in this work to categorize the relation type between event pairs in unstructured Amharic text in order to address this difficulty. The models are trained and assessed using a dataset of 6622 manually annotated Amharic texts. Experimental results showcase the effectiveness of the BiLSTM model, achieving a high accuracy of 93% for Amharic sub-event relation classification. The findings of this research hold significant implications for natural language processing applications in Amharic and other languages. Moreover, the developed model can be extended to other languages, making it a valuable contribution to the field of natural language processing. © 2024 IEEE.

Intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) that can dynamically control the phase of radio waves and reflect them are attracting attention to realize non line-of-sight communication in the high-frequency band. Channel state information (CSI) is estimated to properly control the phase, however the overhead of the estimation reduces communication efficiency. To reduce the overhead, IRS systems with active elements that perform channel estimation are considered. One approach treats the partial CSI obtained from the active elements as an image and utilizes a super-resolution technique to predict the entire CSI. However, because the active elements are arranged in grid, prediction is difficult when the active elements spacing and the CSI fluctuation period match. In this study, we propose a new arrangement that gathers the active elements in the center of the IRS. Furthermore, we regard prediction as an image-inpainting problem that recovers missing pixels from known pixel values, and we propose applying the U-Net to solve this problem. Numerical experiments show that the proposed method outperforms conventional methods in prediction accuracy and spectral efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (IRS) is attracting attention for wireless communications at high-frequency band. IRS can control radio propagation by reflecting radio waves and shifting their phase. As one of the methods to control IRS, location-based methods have been proposed. However, to achieve highly accurate IRS control by the methods, the assumed propagation model must match the actual propagation environment. This study proposes a method to control the IRS from location information adapted to the propagation environment by using machine learning. Numerical experiments confirm that the proposed method can appropriately control IRS regardless of the propagation environment. © 2024 IEEE.

The Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks are one of the most critical threats to the stability and security of the Internet. With the increasing number of devices connected to the Internet, the frequency and severity of DDoS attacks are also increasing. To mitigate the impact of DDoS attacks, intelligent detection systems are becoming increasingly important. This paper reviews the recent literature on intelligent techniques, including machine learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), and artificial intelligence (AI), for detecting DDoS attacks. We will provide an overview of the existing research in the field and analyse the trends in using time series data analysis for DDoS attack detection. A taxonomy and conceptual framework for DDoS mitigation are presented. This study highlights the use of several intelligent techniques for detecting DDoS attacks and evaluates the performance utilizing real datasets and also discusses future research directions in this field. © 2024 IEEE.

In artificial intelligence, deep learning techniques were applied in a wide field due to their ability to automatically learn complex patterns from raw data, such as image classification, object detection, image generation, and video analysis in computer vision. These applications are just the tip of a substantial iceberg. With the development of deep techniques to achieve state-of-art accuracy, learn precisely relevant features from raw data, and improve the robustness of models to make them versatile solutions. The traditional deep learning techniques require vast computational resources, including high-performance computer GPUs or TPUs, and can be expensive in terms of hardware. In Human Activity Recognition Systems (HARs). The video needs more computational resources than image processing. In this paper, we proposed a few-shot learning approach based on a 3D Siamese Network with dept. video sequences to address the action video similarity or dissimilar problem. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are well-suited for images and spatial data processing. The 3DCNN is an extension of CNNs to incorporate an additional temporal dimension to capture the temporal pattern. From the 3D Siamese network, we extract more effective features with spatial-temporal action information from raw data. We employed the 3DCNNs Siamese Network (3DCNNs+SN) with shared weight to recognize or classify a new class of data without new sample data only based on learning training existing sample constructed model. In addition, we divided the benchmark dataset MSR Action 3D dataset into sub-dataset1 (SD-1), sub-dataset2 (SD-2) and sub-dataset3(SD-3) to train and validate our proposed method. For dissimilar sub-dataset 2 we got a 98.1% accuracy, 33% on high-similar sub-dataset 3 and 63.5% on merged sub-dataset SD-4 from sub-dataset2 (SD-2) and sub-dataset3(SD-3). © 2024 IEEE.

Pneumonia, an inflammatory lung disease, impacts the small air sacs known as alveoli and is typically caused by the bacteria Streptococcus pneumonia. Symptoms commonly include a combination of productive or dry cough, chest pains, difficulty breathing, and fever. In India, where Covid-19 is prevalent, community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) poses a significant risk factor for mortality, accounting for one-third of fatalities, as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO).Diagnosing and predicting the outcome of pneumonia typically involves examining chest imaging radiographs of patients exhibiting clinically similar symptoms (e.g., fever, dyspnea, cough, and sputum production). Therefore, the development of an automated method for pneumonia detection could offer valuable advantages, particularly in remote regions, facilitating prompt treatment. This paper presents an integrated framework for the comprehensive analysis of diseases affecting pomegranate fruit. The suggested system, which makes use of deep learning techniques, includes semantic segmentation for diseased region localization, multiclass illness classification, and image processing-based severity assessment. Initially, four common diseases - Alternaria, Anthracnose, Bacterial Blight, and Cer-cospora - are successfully identified through the use of a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for multiclass classification. Then, annotated photos are used as training data for Semantic Segmentation, which uses the UNet architecture to identify the unhealthy spots within the fruit. The area and percentage of the segmented region are determined, and thresholds for high, medium, and low severity levels are then defined. The segmentation results are then used as inputs for severity estimate. Early identification and intervention tactics are made easier by the severity level prediction, which is based on the proportion of the segmented region. In order to improve pomegranate fruit management methods, the suggested framework provides a thorough method of disease analysis by combining categorization, semantic segmentation, and severity prediction. © 2024 IEEE.

E-Learning or online learning has become an integral part of the educational system all over the world in recent times. The Internet of Things has rapidly emerged and continues to create services, software, sensors-embedded devices, and protocols. IoT allows physical objects to communicate, exchange information, and make decisions while performing critical jobs. The Internet of Things is enhanced by wireless sensor networks, which serve as a continuous layer. To gain adoption and spread, Internet of things-based sensor networks must overcome serious general and specialized risks and technological hurdles. The main drawbacks of wireless sensor networks are insufficient resources. Internet of Things (IOT)-based Wireless Sensor Networks have issues in energy consumption, longevity, throughput, routing, and security. The goal of this effort was to enhance network longevity, throughput, packet latency/loss, and better encounters with hostile nodes. Consider wireless energy harvesting in the proposed three-layer cluster-based wireless sensor network routing protocol to enhance network lifespan. The proposed approach is a Trust based Cooperative Secure Routing Protocol (TCSRP) technique with security system to obtain malicious activities of objects and to slant them into blacklist. Finally, experiments were done to test the methodology. It outperforms most traditional routing protocols like AODV, DSR, and DSDV. © 2024 IEEE.

Advanced techniques for body part detection and marker-less sensor-based cue selection is needed for automated human posture estimation (A-HPE) systems to efficiently identify complicated activity movements. The complicated motions during sports and fitness activities and the differences in lighting conditions make it difficult to identify human activities using vision sensors. This study presents an innovative approach to automatically recognize distinct gait events (GEDs) in sporting activities. Our system integrates techniques for detecting individuals and extracting crucial body points to establish a skeletal framework. Subsequently, we employ analyses on these key points and body features, using methods such as histograms of oriented gradients (HOG) and joint angle computations. To address the variability of sports movements, we utilize two robust algorithms: ant colony optimization and XGBoost. These algorithms facilitate the classification of movements and the assignment of labels to each event. Evaluation on a publicly available dataset of Olympic sports demonstrates that our GED system achieves an accuracy of 88.81%, surpassing existing methodologies. Application for the suggested approach in man-machine interactions include augmented reality, service bots, e-health fitness, and surveillance of security. © 2024 IEEE.
