Challenges faced by traffic management in many developing nations across the globe is a result of the poor quality of road infrastructure. Inadequate and defective road infrastructure are major contributors to this effect. A key element that poses significant risk to road safety and that leads to increased road management cost is the increasing number of potholes and inefficient detection and reporting approach. This study provides an in-dept. exploration of the latest developments in pothole detection systems and examines various methodologies and technologies used in these systems, emphasizing the importance of real-time monitoring for proactive road maintenance. In addition, we proposed a system that addresses the persistent challenge of road infrastructure degradation by adopting cutting-edge technologies, including computer vision, machine learning, and sensor networks (such as ultrasonic and GPIO systems) that are used to identify and assess potholes on road surfaces. To achieve the aim of the study, the system adopts the use of RasberryPi 4 Model B for pothole detection and YOLOv4 for image processing. © 2024 IEEE.

Agriculture has been an active source of food and economic growth, but it faces significant challenges from diseases and climate change. In Indonesia, sugarcane production is severely impacted by viral infections such as Sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV) and Sugarcane streak mosaic virus (SCSMV). These infectious diseases pose a threat to the world's sugarcane industry, resulting in significant crop losses in nations like Brazil and India, along with other viruses like the Fiji Disease Virus (FDV), and Sugarcane Yellow Leaf Virus (SCYLV). For such diseases to be managed and performance to be maintained, early detection is essential. Disease detection is accomplished by both conventional and cutting-edge approaches, such as molecular, serological, and imaging methods. However, the advancements in Machine learning, Deep learning and computational image processing algorithms have demonstrated significant potential in the early and precise diagnosis of disease. In this study, different methods used for machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) for plant disease diagnosis were reviewed and it highlights the need of high-quality datasets, various pre-processing techniques, robust extraction of features, and efficient classification techniques. It also discussed the issues with data collection, symptom variability, over-fitting, and imbalances in classes, along with potential avenues for further advancement in diagnosing diseases systems. © 2024 IEEE.

In response to the urgent need for coronavirus treatments, this research focuses on leveraging bioactivity data collection and processing for efficient drug discovery, employing computational methods to predict potential antiviral compounds. Exploratory data analysis was performed to identify patterns and trends, and various molecular descriptors were computed for the Mpro inhibitors in the descriptor dataset preparation step. A regression model was trained using the developed random forest algorithm to predict the bioactivity of new compounds against the standard value and compared with other regression models. Additionally, a web-based application was created using the random forest model to allow users to obtain predicted bioactivity values against Mpro by providing information about molecular structures. Machine learning-based bioactivity prediction offers an intriguing plan for drug discovery, and the proposed work provides a comprehensive workflow for COVID- 19 drug discovery. The web application provides a user-friendly interface for drug discovery researchers to evaluate the potential of compounds against the Mpro target quickly. © 2024 IEEE.

Cirrhosis is one of the major causes of death around the world. Hence, the possibility of survival prediction among patients affected by this disease constitutes the principal factor in properly planning treatment and management procedures. This work aims to design a predictive model of the probability of survival of patients who have cirrhosis based on patient data, including clinical parameters, medical history, and laboratory findings of these patients. The data-driven machine learning algorithm improves the predictive accuracy and significantly enhances the clinical decision-making process. This considers multiple predictors: the patient's liver function tests, the demographic factors, and the indicators of disease progression in the body. It will be validated for reliability and accuracy using real-world patient case data. Therefore, this tool could aid clinicians in devising treatment plans that improve patient outcomes and efficiently utilise healthcare resources. This study also contributes to the emerging genre of AI-assisted care because chronic liver disease management, specifically cirrhosis, in this case, requires constituting predictive analytics. © 2024 IEEE.

Internet of Things (IoT) has been rapidly growing over the past years. There have been many cybersecurity challenges faced by IoT-based smart cities in existing work for the energy, health and transportation sectors. These cybersecurity challenges are crucial to remove in the IoT sector to implement a safe and secure IoT based smart city. Vulnerabilities across layers in IoT are analyzed and a multi-layered model of security is proposed to enhance data integrity and communication security by using AI, blockchain and ML. Pneumonia, an inflammatory lung disease, impacts the small air sacs known as alveoli and is typically caused by the bacteria Streptococcus pneumonia. Symptoms commonly include a combination of productive or dry cough, chest pains, difficulty breathing, and fever. In India, where Covid-19 is prevalent, community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) poses a significant risk factor for mortality, accounting for one-third of fatalities, as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO).Diagnosing and predicting the outcome of pneumonia typically involves examining chest imaging radiographs of patients exhibiting clinically similar symptoms (e.g., fever, dyspnea, cough, and sputum production). Therefore, the development of an automated method for pneumonia detection could offer valuable advantages, particularly in remote regions, facilitating prompt treatment. Deep learning (DL) models enable the analysis of various chest radiographs, with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) receiving considerable attention in disease classification. Braille script serves as a fundamental medium of communication for individuals with visual impairments. However, its interpretation by non-experts poses a significant challenge, hindering inclusivity in education and daily interactions. This study proposes a system that leverages Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and the Google Text-to-Speech (GTTS) library to translate Braille text into multilingual speech. This research addresses the challenge of Braille literacy among visually impaired individuals by developing a system that translates Braille text into multilingual speech. The proposed solution utilizes advanced CNNs for accurate Braille character recognition and integrates GTTS technology for real-time speech output. The results demonstrate a significant improvement in accessibility and communication for users, with an accuracy rate of 97.28% achieved using the AlexNet model." © 2025 IEEE.

This review explores recent advancements that are made in remote sensing, enabling detailed analysis of our ecosystem through high resolution and multispectral imaging. The recent advancements in remote sensing includes developments useful for generation of synthetic images using GAN such as StyleGAN3 and for estimation of carbon stocks in forest using OBIA. Ecotones like mangroves and saltmarsh are crucial for carbon sequestration but mapping them accurately was challenging due to spectral similarity and seasonal variations. Focusing on coastal protection by this review examines the mapping methodologies such as random forest classification, OBIA and FID for habitat distinction, canopy area assessment and analysis. Through these technologies data accuracy can be enhanced for better monitoring. This review concludes with a discussion of AI-powered image synthesis and classification. © 2025 IEEE.

A critical feature of vehicle movement applications is the detection and identification of a vehicle's License Plate (LP). Despite technological and algorithm developments, differences in LP properties by nation, such as number system, colors, character language, fonts, and size, necessitate more study to enhance detection and recognition. Despite substantial study, many systems function in well-defined contexts, necessitating the use of expensive equipment to capture photos from slow-moving vehicles or generate high-quality shots. This study describes a deep learning-based automated approach for LP detection and recognition, which is further separated into detection and character recognition. Yolov8 (You Only Look Once Version-8) was utilized for automatic pixel separation and gradient computation, making complicated model training easier. Using deep learning, Easy OCR (Optical Character Recognition) was utilized to retrieve text from number plates. Easy OCR (Optical Character Recognition) was utilized to extract text from license plates, with deep learning algorithms employed to effectively read text in difficult settings. For image and video processing, OpenCV (Open-Source computer Vision Library) was employed. The project titled 'Automatic Number Plate Using YOLOv8 Model' leverages the advanced capabilities of the YOLOv8 model to develop a robust system for automated number plate recognition, serving as the core component for real-time object detection and number plate localization within images and video streams. © 2024 Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.

In today's world, skin diseases are caused by various factors and affect a person's mental and physical wellbeing. Particularly in private areas, there is considerable reluctance to disclose skin diseases, especially among female patients, which further intensifies the challenge of early detection and treatment. To tackle this issue, the study proposes the implementation of eDermaCare, a novel approach leveraging the advanced Residual Network-50 (ResNet-50) convolutional neural network architecture. Several convolutional neural network (CNN) architectures were explored, but unsatisfactory results were obtained. ResNet-50 has the ability to capture complex features from skin images. The goal is to improve skin disease classification using ResNet-50's deep learning capabilities. This model uses the rest of the course to explain training and retention issues. Block balances allow training deep networks without suffering from degradation in performance. As a result, the model achieves a classification accuracy of 76.07%. The proposed system wm help improve early detection and treatment of skin diseases, address societal challenges, and support effective healthcare. © 2024 Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.
