Continuing, life-long education for flexible upskilling and reskilling has been a systemic challenge, a ruthless race against time, accelerated technological change and unforeseen adversities. Especially in the post-pandemic fourth industrial revolution era, higher education learners need systems that can facilitate durable, reliable knowledge construction and retention. Many e-learning platforms and methods have emerged and tried to solve this problem, however not all with the desired success. This kind of deeper learning is a lot trickier to implement effectively;it requires multifaceted thoughtful instructional and interaction design to operate as it should and keep learners engaged. In this paper, the design and development of a dual, hybrid, neuroscience-informed online learning platform is presented based on the design thinking methodology. This platform was used to facilitate an innovative didactic course based on neuroscience to higher education faculty members. © 2022 IEEE.

There is a wide variety of motion planning techniques for robots;however, there are few tools to test and compare the performance of motion planners in various environments. This work proposes a test layout for a set of industrial robots to measure their performance in manipulation in a constrained environment. The developed work uses ROS and the benchmarking tool Robowflex. The comparison allowed to obtain the performance results of multiple motion planners in a shorter time than in previous works. These results facilitate the correct choice of a motion planner, which is critical in current industrial environments. The conducted benchmark provides a valuable tool for potential comparisons of new motion strategies to proven and established methods. © 2022 IEEE.

Vital signs, such as heart and respiratory rates, are the main parameters when assessing a person's physical condition. Advanced technologies for monitoring vital signs include electrocardiography (ECG), photoplethysmograph (PPG), or phonocardiography (PCG). While ECG utilizes electrical stimulation that triggers each heartbeat, PPG measures changes in absorbance caused by blood flow, and PCG measures acoustic waves resulting from the mechanical activity of the heart. In recent decades, analysis of heart sound signals, especially for automatic heart sound segmentation and classification, has been widely studied and reported to have potential value for accurately and clinically detecting pathology. However, comparative analysis of algorithms in the literature has been hindered by the lack of high-quality, rigorously validated, and standardized heart sound databases of recordings. In this research, a heart sound database will be created by the public, especially Indonesians, to represent the condition of Asian society, which in the future can be used as a research reference for other researchers as an open data set. It includes healthy subjects and patients with a variety of conditions, including heart valve disease and coronary artery disease. Records are collected from a variety of clinical or nonclinical environments and equipment. Recording length varies from a few seconds to several seconds-minutes. This study will report detailed information about subjects/patients including demographics (number, age, and gender), recordings (number, location, state, and length of time), associated synchronously recorded signals, sampling frequency, and type of sensor used. This research aims to measure acoustic waves resulting from the mechanical activity of the heart and the results of heart sound recordings in various patient conditions, along with their pathologies, will be grouped in an open database based on normal and abnormal. Deep neural networks with state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance on medical imaging datasets such as Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound (US), and Computed Tomography (CT) requires resource intensive environments (computing speed, data size, power usage, and memory size). With continuing Moore's law of doubling computing resources on a chip, some might believe that large deep neural networks are appropriate. However, there are many low-resource settings where such large models are wasteful or not implementable at the point of care. In this paper, we review recent (2017-2023) papers to identify the impact of compressing high-performance, critical task imaging models. In the literature, we found that Convolution Neural Network (CNN)-based models performed similarly to full-precision models by re-training or quantization-aware training. 3D-CNN models show SOTA performance on volumetric data. However, few published papers quantized 3D-CNN models. We summarize that quantized models are useful for segmenting and classifying medical images and, thus, important for low-resource settings.

In the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, understanding the intricate properties and behaviors of cells and tissues within their natural environment is fundamental for translating theory into practical applications. This scientific article introduces the development of a functional medium chamber. The design of this chamber was driven by the need to align it with the volume requirements and specified conditions of bioreactor systems. The objective was to acquire new practical and theoretical insights in the realms of tissue engineering, 3D printing, and bioreactor technology. The emphasis throughout the project was on simplicity in design, with the aim of enabling easy construction and disassembly of the model. This initiative not only involved the creation of a chamber design but also encompassed the 3D printing process and extended functional testing over the long term. The design parameters, including the closing mechanism and chamber shape, were thoughtfully selected to enhance versatility, making the chamber adaptable for various bioreactor systems in the future. Subsequently, the printed chamber underwent rigorous testing using water as the culture medium, laying the groundwork for potential advancements in bioreactor technology and tissue cultivation.

We introduce a framework for acoustic measurement that allows everyday sounds into acoustic measurement test signals and standard test signals such as swept-sine and MLS (Maximum Length Sequence). The framework extends our extended Time-Stretched-Pulse generation method and safeguarding method for any signals to make them appropriate for acoustic measurement. The extension uses the periodic nature of discrete Fourier transform combined with orthogonalization based on the Walsh-Hadamerd matrix. This framework enables simultaneous measurement of acoustic attributes such as linear time-invariant response, signal-dependent non-linear and time-invariant components, and random time-varying components. We also discuss and demonstrate practical scenarios in classes and laboratory lessons using tools developed based on the proposed framework. © 2023 IEEE.

Pending interest table (PIT) is one of the data structures on each named data network router. The speed of delivery of interest as well as the interest served at PIT are several important parameters for measuring PIT performance. This research was conducted to analyze the performance of PIT by measuring the round trip time (RTT) of sending data and sending interests from consumers to producers on the Palapa Ring Sumatra topology. Testing is carried out using miniNDN by varying the length of the prefix and the number of interests sent. From the simulation and results of the analysis that has been carried out, it is known that the correlation between the length of the prefix and RTT is directly proportional. The longer the prefix of an interest packet, the higher the RTT value. Apart from the simulation results, the number of interest packets sent is the same as those received at each node. © 2023 IEEE.

Annotated images are required as ground truth for deep learning. Bacterial segmentation is requires a lot of time and effort when done manually. The autosegmentation task gets more challenging since bacterial images contain low light properties, which have an important effect on auto annotating tasks. In order to solve this issue, we present a system that includes a fuzzy-based clustering method that enhances bacterial object segmentation performance by utilizing the multicluster idea. The State Transform Algorithm (STA) is used to obtain starting centroids in order to increase stability, because the Kernel of Intuitionistic Fuzzy C- Means (KIFCM) is sensitive to starting centroids and hence sensitive to being stuck in local optima. The accuracy of KIFCM-STA with bicluster is poor in low-light images. To boost performance, the multicluster technique (MKIFCM-STA) is presented as a continuation hybrid of KIFCM-STA. This framework allows for the ideal amount of clusters (Silhouette) and cluster ranking to provide clusters containing bacterial objects (Topsis). In order to compare our method against four prior approaches (IFCM, KFCM, KIFCM, and KIFCM-STA), we compare its qualitative aspects (visualization of images) and quantitative aspects (average IOU, Dice, HD, ASD, and Accuracy). In low light image clustering tasks, our model significantly improves and achieves great results in terms of accuracy, with a score of 89.438%. This accomplishment highlights how crucial it is that our framework tackles the problem of low-light image clustering in images of bacteria, eventually improving the image auto-annotation procedure.

A navigation system is an essential tool designed to assist users in determining and following a route from one location to another. Navigation systems are typically categorized into two types: outdoor navigation systems designed for open areas and indoor navigation systems used within enclosed spaces. However, transitioning between indoor and outdoor environments has limitations, often requiring users to switch applications, such as using GPS for outdoor navigation and a different application for indoor navigation. Therefore, we propose the integration of indoor and outdoor navigation based on Augmented Reality. The development of AR navigation system begins with the creation of 3D assets of the Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya (PENS) campus, which is the site of our research including three buildings for indoor navigation and the connecting roads between the buildings for outdoor navigation. The development of this navigation system uses the Immersal SDK as a library for Spatial Mapping, Localization and System Integration. Several features are included, such as indoor-outdoor navigation, multilevel floor navigation, and zero additional devices. The system testing results are based on user testing, integration testing, and multilevel floor testing. From User Testing with PIECES Framework, 32 respondents expressed satisfaction with the proposed system. Integration Testing showed that the system could navigate between indoor and outdoor environments. And Multilevel Floor Testing demonstrated that the system could navigate within buildings with multiple floors.

In this paper, we consider a vehicle that has an access point of fixed capacity. The vehicle accommodates a finite number of users who generate calls (quasi-random process). Each call requires a single bandwidth unit to be serviced for an exponentially distributed service time. The applied call admission policy depends on which phase the vehicle is. Two phases are taken into account: a moving and a stop one. During the moving phase, only new calls are serviced under the complete sharing policy. During the stop phase, both new and handover calls are being serviced, while the latter are being prioritized utilizing a probabilistic bandwidth reservation policy. The analytical determination of the various performance metrics of the system presented in this paper is accurate and is based on three-dimensional Markov chains.
