People frequently find it straightforward to identify insects that feed on cabbage plants based on the insects' characteristics. However, challenges arise when employing a computer for precise bug categorization and identification. The implementation of Deep Learning (DL) utilizes the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) technique, renowned for its effectiveness in categorizing and recognizing objects in digital photo data. The CNN algorithm delivers notable results in photo identification, simulating the human visual brain's image recognition through artificial neural networks in the Python programming language. To enrich the user experience, frameworks like Keras and TensorFlow are employed in neural network development. Our research will use the CNN algorithm to determine insect species in cabbage images. Achieving high accuracy involves coupling the CNN algorithm with the VGGNet architectural model. Notably, utilizing an epoch value of 150 resulted in a 97.75% accuracy rate during the training model technique;however, the validation accuracy was slightly lower at 94.25%. The corresponding loss and validation rates were 0.0613% and 0.2945%, respectively. Moreover, based on the model (150 epochs), the testing outcomes in the study, involving 48 images beyond the dataset and incorporating additional information, resulted in an accuracy rate of 91.66%. © 2024 IEEE.

Emotions are a collection of subjective cognitive experiences and psychological and physiological characteristics that express a wide range of feelings, thoughts, and behaviors in human interaction. Emotions can be represented through several means, such as facial expressions, tone of voice, and behavior. Deep Learning (DL) research has focused on incorporating facial expressions. Images with facial expressions are commonly used as data input for the DL model. Unfortunately, most DL models in Facial Emotion Recognition (FER) use static images. This method does not take into consideration all conceivable facial expressions. The static image of facial expressions is insufficient for recognizing emotions, but a sequential image from a video is required. In this study, we extract MediaPipe's face mesh feature, the state-of-the-art multidimensional expression key points embedded in the video image sequence. Furthermore, we feed sequence image data into the pre-trained Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model. The data we used is from The Ryerson Audio-Visual Database of Emotional Speech and Song (RAVDESS) with the emotion classes of 'Anger,' 'Fearful,' 'Happy,' and 'Sad.' For this specific FER task, we found that the best pre-trained CNN model achieved 92.8% accuracy (using the VGG-19 model), with the fastest runtime of ∼2.3 seconds (achieved using the SqueezeNet model). © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we evaluate the performance of a vehicular ad hoc network that enables Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication considering direct and indirect packet transmission. As a performance indicator, we use the blocking probability due to the unavailability of resources. For the blocking probability calculation, we utilize two loss models from the teletraffic theory. The results demonstrate that both the capacity of the V2X links and the number of hops in the multi-hop transmission significantly affect the blocking probability of a request for service and consequently the QoS. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, the process humans adopt to learn a foreign language has moved from the strict "Grammar -Translation"method, which is based mainly on grammar and syntax rules, to more innovative processes, resulting to the more modern "Communicative approach". As its name states, this approach focuses on the coherent communication with native speakers and the cultivation of oral skills, without taking into consideration, at least at the first stages, the rules that govern the language. The same trend seems to have been applied to the way machinery can be "educated"to comprehend and reproduce the unfamiliar, human language. The "rule based"Natural Language Generation (NLG) and Natural Language Understanding (NLU) algorithms, on one hand, and the "text based"Large Language Models (LLMs), on the other, are two, analogous to the two human foreign language learning processes, subareas of Natural Language Processing (NLP). This paper presents these two alternative approaches, LLMs (a technology having surfaced as an influential catalyst of NLP, during last years) on the one hand and NLG/NLU on the other, highlighting their applications, their technologies, their capabilities, their differences, their strengths and weaknesses and the challenges they present, contributing to a deeper comprehension of the evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence and human-computer communication. © 2023 Owner/Author.

Vital signs, such as heart and respiratory rates, are the main parameters when assessing a person's physical condition. Advanced technologies for monitoring vital signs include electrocardiography (ECG), photoplethysmograph (PPG), or phonocardiography (PCG). While ECG utilizes electrical stimulation that triggers each heartbeat, PPG measures changes in absorbance caused by blood flow, and PCG measures acoustic waves resulting from the mechanical activity of the heart. In recent decades, analysis of heart sound signals, especially for automatic heart sound segmentation and classification, has been widely studied and reported to have potential value for accurately and clinically detecting pathology. However, comparative analysis of algorithms in the literature has been hindered by the lack of high-quality, rigorously validated, and standardized heart sound databases of recordings. In this research, a heart sound database will be created by the public, especially Indonesians, to represent the condition of Asian society, which in the future can be used as a research reference for other researchers as an open data set. It includes healthy subjects and patients with a variety of conditions, including heart valve disease and coronary artery disease. Records are collected from a variety of clinical or nonclinical environments and equipment. Recording length varies from a few seconds to several seconds-minutes. This study will report detailed information about subjects/patients including demographics (number, age, and gender), recordings (number, location, state, and length of time), associated synchronously recorded signals, sampling frequency, and type of sensor used. This research aims to measure acoustic waves resulting from the mechanical activity of the heart and the results of heart sound recordings in various patient conditions, along with their pathologies, will be grouped in an open database based on normal and abnormal. In this research, a prosthetic robot hand that features a lever-based finger movement mechanism is proposed as the new approach to the T-FLoW 3.0 humanoid robot's hand development. The proposed approach performs both grasping and releasing movements by pushing or pulling the finger-attached lever. The lever is pushed or pulled by micro-servo, which uses a stiff bar to transfer the force from the servo-horn to the finger's lever. Our prosthetic robot hand is equipped with six joints, six SG92R micro-servos as actuators, and six force-sensitive resistors (FSR) as grasping feedback. 3D printing manufacturing technology is utilized to give the hand a realistic appearance, and PLA filament material is used in the manufacturing process to provide low-cost, lightweight, and easy maintenance. Static structural analysis simulation result lead to the conclusion that our prosthetic robot hand could sustain a load of around 30N. With the lever-based finger movement mechanism, the proposed approach is expected to overcome the mechanical slip issues from finger movements, which are often experienced in the old approach of the T-FLoW 3.0 humanoid robot's hand development. © 2022 IEEE.

In the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, understanding the intricate properties and behaviors of cells and tissues within their natural environment is fundamental for translating theory into practical applications. This scientific article introduces the development of a functional medium chamber. The design of this chamber was driven by the need to align it with the volume requirements and specified conditions of bioreactor systems. The objective was to acquire new practical and theoretical insights in the realms of tissue engineering, 3D printing, and bioreactor technology. The emphasis throughout the project was on simplicity in design, with the aim of enabling easy construction and disassembly of the model. This initiative not only involved the creation of a chamber design but also encompassed the 3D printing process and extended functional testing over the long term. The design parameters, including the closing mechanism and chamber shape, were thoughtfully selected to enhance versatility, making the chamber adaptable for various bioreactor systems in the future. Subsequently, the printed chamber underwent rigorous testing using water as the culture medium, laying the groundwork for potential advancements in bioreactor technology and tissue cultivation. © 2024 IEEE.

With Industry 4.0's technological advancements, the convenience and affordability of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and IoT have increased. However, customers still face long waiting times in payment queues during the smart shopping experience. Current solutions rely on expensive sensor-based RFIDs or simple barcodes, making them impractical and limited in scalability. This paper proposes an economically smart solution with two cameras on NVIDIA JETSON NANO for realtime object monitoring and automated shopping. Communication between modules is facilitated by TCP/IP and HTTP protocols. By utilizing the YOLO v7, real-time monitoring is achieved. This innovative approach revolutionizes the customer experience by providing a seamless interface and time-saving features. Additionally, it offers potential integration with e-commerce businesses and payment gateways, further enhancing the overall customer and vendor experience. © 2024 IEEE.

A navigation system is an essential tool designed to assist users in determining and following a route from one location to another. Navigation systems are typically categorized into two types: outdoor navigation systems designed for open areas and indoor navigation systems used within enclosed spaces. However, transitioning between indoor and outdoor environments has limitations, often requiring users to switch applications, such as using GPS for outdoor navigation and a different application for indoor navigation. Therefore, we propose the integration of indoor and outdoor navigation based on Augmented Reality. The development of AR navigation system begins with the creation of 3D assets of the Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya (PENS) campus, which is the site of our research including three buildings for indoor navigation and the connecting roads between the buildings for outdoor navigation. The development of this navigation system uses the Immersal SDK as a library for Spatial Mapping, Localization and System Integration. Several features are included, such as indoor-outdoor navigation, multilevel floor navigation, and zero additional devices. The system testing results are based on user testing, integration testing, and multilevel floor testing. From User Testing with PIECES Framework, 32 respondents expressed satisfaction with the proposed system. Integration Testing showed that the system could navigate between indoor and outdoor environments. And Multilevel Floor Testing demonstrated that the system could navigate within buildings with multiple floors. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we consider a vehicle that has an access point of fixed capacity. The vehicle accommodates a finite number of users who generate calls (quasi-random process). Each call requires a single bandwidth unit to be serviced for an exponentially distributed service time. The applied call admission policy depends on which phase the vehicle is. Two phases are taken into account: a moving and a stop one. During the moving phase, only new calls are serviced under the complete sharing policy. During the stop phase, both new and handover calls are being serviced, while the latter are being prioritized utilizing a probabilistic bandwidth reservation policy. The analytical determination of the various performance metrics of the system presented in this paper is accurate and is based on three-dimensional Markov chains. © 2023 IEEE.
