Object control requires the calculation of a regulator. One of the most effective methods for calculating the regulator is the method of numerical optimization of the regulator. This paper discusses the solution of the problem of controlling a linear object of the sixth order, the parameters of which are such that this high order significantly and negatively affects the possibilities of successfully managing this object. Using the traditional approach to the design problem of the controller (regulator) allows us to formally solve the problem;however, the result of this solution is not satisfactory. The use of additional derivation does not give any noticeable improvement. A solution to this problem is proposed by using pseudo-local feedback, moreover, this connection is supposedly most effective if it covers one of two identical links in the object model. This allows for a smoother attenuation of the frequency response of the object in the region where the action of these two links begins to affect. For pseudo-local communication, an additional PID controller is used, the coefficients of which are also determined by the method of numerical optimization. The optimization result allows us to conclude that the presence of an integral element in this controller is optional. The calculation result of such a composite controller meets the most stringent requirements for the quality of control, since in such a system the speed is increased at least twice, the oscillations, which were about 10% in amplitude, are completely eliminated, the robustness of the system is ensured, which is verified by changing all the controller coefficients by 5% up and down, and also by changing the time constant of the element of the pseudolocal loop by 10% up and down, changes in the transition process of the system in this case remain are acceptable. © 2019 IEEE.

Electrocardiograms are generated by electrical signals, and therefore individual electrocardiogram signals can vary according to the measurement environment that is created by the subjects' behavioral characteristics. Generally, post-exercise electrocardiograms that are used as biometric identification data do not match pre-exercise electrocardiograms owing to temporarily occurring tachycardia, and this reduces user identification performance. Research is being conducted on normalization techniques that make the post-exercise electrocardiograms match the pre-exercise electrocardiograms, but there have been problems caused by the distortion of morphological features such as P waves, QRS complexes, and T waves. To address problem, this study looked at the measurements of electrocardiograms before and after exercise and performed linear interpolation normalization on the P and T waves of a post-exercise tachycardia electrocardiogram cycle to make it match the pre-exercise electrocardiogram cycle. This study also proposes a user recognition system based on this technique. To analyze the proposed system's performance, the lead-I electrocardiogram signals of 20 subjects were measured three times at 2- to 3-day intervals before and after exercise, and a database was constructed. The experiment results showed that the conventional algorithm's maximum recognition performance was 88.33%, and the proposed normalization method's performance was 91.67%. A combined method was found to be both excellent and similar to the proposed method, with a performance of 92.5%.

This paper presents a control strategy for Cyber-Physical System defense developed in the framework of the European Project ATENA, that concerns Critical Infrastructure (CI) protection. The aim of the controller is to find the optimal security configuration, in terms of countermeasures to implement, in order to address the system vulnerabilities. The attack/defense problem is modeled as a multi-agent general sum game, where the aim of the defender is to prevent the most damage possible by finding an optimal trade-off between prevention actions and their costs. The problem is solved utilizing Reinforcement Learning and simulation results provide a proof of the proposed concept, showing how the defender of the protected CI is able to minimize the damage caused by his her opponents by finding the Nash equilibrium of the game in the zero-sum variant, and, in a more general scenario, by driving the attacker in the position where the damage she/he can cause to the infrastructure is lower than the cost it has to sustain to enforce her/his attack strategy. © 2018 IEEE.

Thanks to the exponential growth of the Internet, Distance Education is becoming more and more strategic in many fields of daily life. Its main advantage is that students can learn through appropriate web platforms that allow them to take advantage of multimedia and interactive teaching materials, without constraints neither of time nor of space. Today, in fact, the Internet offers many platforms suitable for this purpose, such as Moodle, ATutor and others. Coursera is another example of a platform that offers different courses to thousands of enrolled students. This approach to learning is, however, posing new problems such as that of the assessment of the learning status of the learner in the case where there were thousands of students following a course, as is in Massive On-line Courses (MOOC). The Peer Assessment can therefore be a solution to this problem: evaluation takes place between peers, creating a dynamic in the community of learners that evolves autonomously. In this article, we present a first step towards this direction through a peer assessment mechanism led by the teacher who intervenes by evaluating a very small part of the students. Through a mechanism based on machine learning, and in particular on a modified form of K-NN, given the teacher’s grades, the system should converge towards an evaluation that is as similar as possible to the one that the teacher would have given. This study aims to develop an online Greek language learning platform via a learning management system based on the WordPress platform for primary school pupils with Russian as a mother tongue. The subject was chosen with a view to aid both the communication needs of Russian native speakers in Greece, as well as their smooth integration into society. For the purpose of the current study, we investigated how Greek language is learnt in Russia, how widespread and popular it is, whether it is supported by the Russian educational system, as well as whether Greek language distance learning could be achieved. Moreover, LMS(Learning management system) environments were investigated as well, aiming at selecting the most student/teacher-friendly one. Taking into account that the platform is addressed to children, a presentable and properly developed material was designed, thus making the learning of each module more interesting and comprehensible throughout its short duration. With"GrfKids" platform speakers of other languages have the opportunity to learn Greek in an interactive asynchronous teaching environment with an automatic assessment. Moreover,"GrfKids" can be easily and immediately expanded both to pupils‘linguistic, as well as age range."GrfKids" provides Greek language courses to children with Russian as a mother tongue with interactive modules in which the learners can adapt the learning time by themselves. It is easy to use, functional and easily adapted to the ages it is addressed to. It was developed to create a teaching system by applying different plugins to the selected CMS(Content Management system), aiming to achieve a curriculum in which the pupil is in direct interaction with the educational material. It can be used individually, or as a support tool in a real class context. The method of detection and localization of design errors in HDL-models of finite state machines with arbitrary output functions was proposed. The diagnostic experiment is carried out bypassing all arcs of the Mealy machine, starting from the initial vertex, including for machines of the "non-exclusive" class. To ensure the return of the machine with a possible design error in the initial state, it is suggested to use synchronizing sequences. Diagnostic experiments were performed in the Active-HDL design environment.

The paper studies the problem of determining the optimal control when singular arcs are present in the solution. In the general classical approach the expressions obtained depend on the state and the costate variables at the same time, so requiring a forward-backward integration for the computation of the control. In this paper, sufficient conditions on the dynamics structure are provided and discussed in order to have both the control and the switching function depending on the state only, so simplifying the computation avoiding the necessity of the backward integration. Many tracking systems are based on the Global Positioning System (GPS), Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) and smart phones, due to their wide availability and reliability. A moving object to be tracked, it sends its GPS coordinates to the observer via SMS. However, the economic feasibility of these systems mainly depends on the total cost of the used SMS messages. In this paper, an economic tracking scheme is proposed to reduce the tracking cost. A GPS-GSM tracking system that uses the proposed scheme is implemented and tested together with two classical tracking systems under two practical test cases. The first test case is a 121 km vehicle trip and the second is a 2.4 km walking journey. The results showed the effectiveness and economic feasibility of the proposed system, which achieved a saving in tracking cost up to about 64% with respect to the tested classical systems. © 2018 IEEE.

The central aim of this research is to propose a solution to rehabilitate historic places using a robotic manipulator. In this pursuit, the objective is to clean flat or curved surfaces of mihrab/muqarnas and to write lost Arabic inscriptions on spandrel using 7 Degree of freedom (DOF) robotic manipulator. Inverse kinematics solution for 7 DOF is derived by fixing redundant joint and solving the remaining 6 DOF inverse kinematics. Image processing techniques are used to get data from the given image for the robotic calligraphy operation on the spandrel to restore the lost inscriptions. Path planning exercise is implemented to navigate the end-effector on the desired path to write lost inscriptions and to clean curved surfaces of muqarnas. Proposed solutions are verified by simulation using MATLAB. The results showed that the manipulator successfully tracked the given path to perform the desired operation in mihrab as well as calligraphy operation on spandrel.
