A wearable intelligent platform for the monitoring of the health condition and rehabilitation of athletes is presented. The system provides doctors and trainers with real-time monitoring, alerting and medical decision support. It aims to help them optimize treatment and training procedures during rehabilitation, to prevent injury relapses and to ensure a prompt return to peak athletic condition. The system's design requirements are laid out along with its functional description. It is composed of three main subsystems: the athlete subsystem, the rehabilitation station and the portal. The athlete subsystem includes all the monitoring sensors worn by the athlete during training, along with a signal collector and a processing-transceiver unit for preliminary evaluation and for exchanging information with the rehabilitation station. The rehabilitation station is the main control, access and communication point of the system carrying most of the processing. The measurements derived from the received signals are fed into an intelligent module, which provides with the monitoring, alerting and decision support mechanisms. A virtual reality interface is used by the athlete to communicate with the system. The portal is a long-term data storage facility collecting selected data for research purposes.

Using an advanced data-dependent (DD) operation (DDO) instead of the DD permutations (DDP) in the known cipher CIKS-128 a new 128-bit cipher CIKS-128h, with reduced number of rounds, has been designed. Additionally we propose a cryptoscheme of the EUS hash function based on CIKS-128h. The single cryptographic core performing data encryption and hashing has been implemented in XILINX FPGA device. The implementation provides significantly higher performance against hash functions MD5, SHA-1 and ciphers DES, AES, IDEA, CIKS-128h. Due to high performance and low implementation cost, the proposed cryptographic device can be efficiently used to solve practical security problems of wired and wireless communication.

The sustainability target method (STM) provides a practical sustainability target for individual businesses and products through determining the relative indicator resource productivity (RP) for environmental performance and the absolute indicator eco-efficiency (EE) for sustainability. This paper investigates an optimal decision making approach for a company to improve its product's sustainability using the STM indicators RP and EE of the product components. Sensitivity analysis is used to provide a methodology to indicate which components should receive attention to make the overall product more sustainable. The feasibility of the approach is validated using a case study of a generalized product consisting of multiple components, which relates easily to circuit board assemblies and other types of electronic products.

Evolution of the electron spin polarization vector is controlled by the spin-orbit interaction. Spin polarization properties, including the spin-dephasing length and orientation of the polarization vector, are investigated, for the applied voltage from 0.05 V to 0.25 V, and for temperatures ranging from 77 K to 300 K.

The emission spectra of STM‐induced luminescence for Au(111) with Pt‐Ir alloy have been studied. We have observed the STM‐tip dependent emission spectra. The emission spectra with Pt‐Ir(20%) tip are not well reproduced, showing various spectra depending on the nature of the tip apex, while the spectra with pure Pt or Pt‐Ir(10%) tips are reproducibly obtained. The STM‐induced emission spectra for different STM tips have been calculated by the electromagnetic theory with complex dielectric functions defined in two different ways for alloy material, and compared with the experimental results. The characteristics of the spectra are interpreted in terms of the one mode type and two mode type depending on the composition rates.
