Recent advances in unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) show that transferable prototypical learning presents a powerful means for class conditional alignment, which encourages the closeness of cross-domain class centroids. However, the cross-domain inner-class compactness and the underlying fine-grained subtype structure remained largely underexplored. In this work, we propose to adaptively carry out the fine-grained subtype-aware alignment by explicitly enforcing the class-wise separation and subtype-wise compactness with intermediate pseudo labels. Our key insight is that the unlabeled subtypes of a class can be divergent to one another with different conditional and label shifts, while inheriting the local proximity within a subtype. The cases with or without the prior information on subtype numbers are investigated to discover the underlying subtype structure in an online fashion. Wireless sensor network (WSN) is one of the huge advance in wireless communication because its ability to gather a lot of information about the surrounding area that is deployed there by the use of hundreds and thousands nodes in the network. The nodes are responsible to gather and relay the data between each other to the Base Station (BS). The main issue here to be into consideration is the life time of the nodes and the number of packets that nodes are able to transfer from one node to another. This means that the energy of nodes is the parameters that should be optimized to let WSN works for a long time with efficient manner. To satisfy this, routing and clustering mechanisms should be energy aware. Because of this;chosen an efficient routing protocol with addition to a powerful technique of clustering is very important. In this paper, a Genetic Low Energy Adaptive Clustering (G-LEACH) is evaluated in 100 uniformly distributed wireless sensor networks in term of number of alive nodes, energy consumption, number of cluster heads and packets delivery to cluster heads. The election of cluster head is achieved by using genetic optimization approach which can determine the efficient and useful cluster heads. The results show that G-LEACH presents some advantages over the LEACH algorithm since the stability zone of the G-LEACH is greater than the stability zone of LEACH by 358 rounds since the first node dies after 1544 rounds in G-LEACH. That's mean;the network's lifetime lives 61.7% longer with the use of G-LEACH instead of LEACH. Meanwhile, the cluster heads are increased by 10% above LEACH when using G-LEACH. © 2019 IEEE.

In the literature, smart grids are modeled as cyber-physical power systems without considering the computational social aspects. However, end-users are playing a key role in their operation and response to disturbances via demand response and distributed energy resources. Therefore, due to the critical role of active and passive end-users and the intermittency of renewable energy, smart grids must be planned and operated by considering the computational social aspects in addition to the technical aspects. The level of cooperation, flexibility, and other social features of the various stakeholders, including consumers, prosumers, and microgrids, affect the system efficiency, reliability, and resilience. In this paper, we design an artificial society simulating the interaction between power systems and the social communities that they serve via agent-based modeling inspired by Barsade’s theory on the emotional spread. The simulation results show a decline in the consumers’ and prosumers’ satisfaction levels induced by a shortage of electricity. It also shows the effects of social diffusion via the Internet and mass media on the satisfaction level. In view of the importance of computational social science for power system applications and the limited number of publications devoted to it, we provide a list of research topics that need to be achieved to enhance the reliability and resilience of power systems’ operation and planning. III-V material based digital alloy Avalanche Photodiodes (APDs) have recently been found to exhibit low noise similar to Silicon APDs. The III-V materials can be chosen to operate at any wavelength in the infrared spectrum. In this work, we present a physics-based SPICE compatible compact model for APDs built from parameters extracted from an Environment-Dependent Tight Binding (EDTB) model calibrated to ab-initio Density Functional Theory (DFT) and Monte Carlo (MC) methods. Using this approach, we can accurately capture the physical characteristics of these APDs in integrated photonics circuit simulations. © 2021, CC BY-NC-ND.

Non-reciprocal plasmons in current-driven, isotropic, and homogenous graphene with proximal metallic gates is theoretically explored. Nearby metallic gates screen the Coulomb interactions, leading to linearly dispersive acoustic plasmons residing close to its particle-hole continuum counterpart. We show that the applied bias leads to spectral broadband focused plasmons whose resonance linewidth is dependent on the angular direction relative to the current flow due to Landau damping. We predict that forward focused non-reciprocal plasmons are possible with accessible experimental parameters and setup. © 2021, CC BY.

This work reports the results of bandwidth measurements and tests, performed for earlier on designed and fabricated pilot lengths of new silica laser-optimized graded-index multimode fibers (LOMFs) with extremely enlarged core diameter up to 100 µm and "typical""telecommunication"cladding diameter 125 µm. Presented optical fibers are targeted for harsh environment short-range multi-Gigabit onboard cable systems and industrial networks. Proposed LOMF 100/125 differs by specially optimized graded refractive index profile, that provides low differential mode delay (DMD) for selected guided modes. We present some results of tests, performed for fabricated pilot 520 m length of described LOMF 100/125, focused on researches of bandwidth features. They contain DMD map and transfer function measurement as well as 10GBase-LX/SX channels eye-diagram and bit-error-ratio reports with following direct detection of the maximal acceptable optical fiber length for guaranteed 10Gbps channel supporting. © 2022 SPIE.

Integrated digital diagnostics can support complex surgical procedures in many anatomical sites, brain tumour surgery being the most complex. STRATUM is a 5-year Horizon Europe funded project with the goal of developing an innovative 3D decision support tool for brain tumour surgeries, based on real-time multimodal data processing using artificial intelligence algorithms. The proposed tool is envisioned as an energy-efficient Point-of-Care computing system to be integrated within neurosurgical workflows to aid surgeons to make informed, efficient, and accurate decisions during surgical procedures. The expected long-term impact of STRATUM is to reduce the duration of surgical procedures, thus decreasing patients' risks, but also optimising the resources of European health care systems.

Recent studies have focused on leveraging large-scale artificial intelligence (LAI) models to improve semantic representation and compression capabilities. However, the substantial computational demands of LAI models pose significant challenges for real-time communication scenarios. To address this, this paper proposes utilizing knowledge distillation (KD) techniques to extract and condense knowledge from LAI models, effectively reducing model complexity and computation latency. Nevertheless, the inherent complexity of LAI models leads to prolonged inference times during distillation, while their lack of channel awareness compromises the distillation performance. These limitations make standard KD methods unsuitable for task-oriented semantic communication scenarios. To address these issues, we propose a fast distillation method featuring a pre-stored compression mechanism that eliminates the need for repetitive inference, significantly improving efficiency. Furthermore, a channel adaptive module is incorporated to dynamically adjust the transmitted semantic information based on varying channel conditions, enhancing communication reliability and adaptability. In addition, an information bottleneck-based loss function is derived to guide the fast distillation process. Simulation results verify that the proposed scheme outperform baselines in term of task accuracy, model size, computation latency, and training data requirements. © 1967-2012 IEEE.
