Capturing users' spatio-temporal context by recognizing their interests, locations, history and activities, and thereafter providing context-aware services is a challenging task. In this paper, we propose a spatio-temporal zoning model that takes different context dimensions into account and try to recommend necessary services to users in a personalized way. First, we propose a generic zoning model with unrestricted set of contexts where both spatial and temporal dimensions are relaxed, followed by two semi-restricted zoning models in which either spatial or temporal dimension is relaxed, while the other one is restricted. Finally, we show the model requiring restricted spatio-temporal zoning that applies to the scenario where millions of users need to perform some activities that have to be performed in a certain location and at a certain temporal period. We use the above zoning model for Hajj and Umrah events to define pilgrim's spatio-temporal contexts by capturing their real-time and historic activities through their smartphones' sensory data. This allows to intelligently recommend a set of necessary services to the users. We present a few of the implementations introduced in our proposed system.

It is based on the use of fluorescence dyes and an integrating photodetector system. The system is intended for use in neonatal intensive care units (NICU). It utilizes a measurement and a reference fluorescence dyes encapsulated in a film. Fluorescence is excited using LEDs and the emission is detected using photodiodes equipped with optical band pass filters. The aim of this work is to characterize and compare the high-temperature performances of the latest generation 1.2 kV Silicon Carbide (SiC) MOSFETs from three well-known manufacturers: Cree, ROHM, and GE. A complete static characterization is performed from 25 ℃ to 200 ℃, including threshold voltage, specific on-resistance, leakage current, junction capacitances, and internal gate resistance. The dynamic performance of each device is evaluated through double-pulse tests conducted from 25 ℃ to 200 ℃. From these double-pulse tests, the switching losses are computed.

At the area of information technology, social networks are becoming an unavoidable part of the Internet usage, due to their facilities for users as well as the benefits to the providers. However, the popularity and thereby, the success of social networks depends highly on number of the network members. This in turn, depends on considerations for several criteria such as networking and number of networks. On the other hand, it is believed that suggestion of appropriate friends to members performed by an effective recommender system can lead to suitable content ranking and consequently, impact the growth of the network in significant sense. The current paper introduces a novel method of recommending celebrities in a social network based on genetic algorithm and the concept of color psychology. The proposed method is applied to Twitter social network as case study, through which the cost function of the user is first optimized to achieve the ideal weights, and the celebrities are then ranked based on the specified parameters as follower and following counts, background color and description. The system is tested using real data of celebrities and number of 100 users with identical parameters. The results evidence the closest recommendation in terms of affordable recommendation error rates as low as 7.6% based on the psychological data validation.

In this paper we present the very first simultaneous detection of a terrestrial gamma-ray flash (TGF) and the optical signal from lightning. By fortuitous coincidence two independent satellites passed less than 300 km from the thunderstorm system that produced a TGF that lasted 70 μs. Together with two independent measurements of radio emissions we have an unprecedented coverage of the event. We find that the TGF was produced inside the thundercloud at the initial stage of an intracloud (IC) lightning just before the leader reached the cloud top and extended horizontally. A strong radio pulse was produced by the TGF itself. This is the first time the sequence of radio pulses, TGF and optical emissions has been identified. Figure 1 shows the three data sets and illustrates our interpretation of this unique event.
