The main objective of this study is the development of an automatic radiation detection system that can be installed at linear accelerator facilities. This system aims to inform the linear accelerator operating staff about the ambient radiation dose rate inside the treatment room. This information might further improve radiation safety. The system is meant to capture residual radiation in the treatment room induced by photonuclear radioactive activation of materials inside the linear accelerator. This study contains current knowledge about ionizing radiation, its dosimetry and detection. It also contains the newest radiation protection laws and radiation protection standards of linear accelerator facilities. The main part of the study is concerned with the design of the detection system - hardware, software, connection and testing of functionality and reliability of the system. The testing was performed by measurement of residual radiation 20 cm away from the source of the linear accelerator. It was performed immediately after applying determined monitor units of photons with energies of 10 MeV and 15 MeV. Measurements were carried out simultaneously using our system and a certified dosimeter RAYSAFE 452. The measured values were compared afterward. Measurement error of 6,08 % and 6,25 %, respectively, was observed. Therefore, the system is arguably reliable and adequate for its purposed use. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper develops an implementation of a measurement and control system in which a vehicle follows its predecessor while maintaining a certain distance. First, we construct a model that virtually delays the reference coordinates of the leading target backwards, and propose a control law that follows the steering angle of the following vehicle to that virtual delay point. Next, a range sensor is used to detect the position and orientation of the leader, and the position and orientation is estimated using a template matching method based on the person’s body contour point group measured by the sensor. Finally, the effectiveness (including robustness) of the proposed system is demonstrated in some simulations and human tracking experiments.

It is critical for society that we transform our siloed water management and infrastructure systems into smart, connected, sustainable, and resilient systems. This transformation can help us to address the effects of increasing extreme climate events, ecosystem demands, rapid global urbanization, and infrastructure deterioration from age and neglect. As water utilities improve their asset management programs, it is imperative that the data-driven decision support systems represent the complexities within water pipeline infrastructure systems. Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques can enable modelers to train mathematical algorithms to learn complex patterns from data and represent the water pipeline infrastructure systems accurately. PIPEiD is a national database platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning techniques to assess the performance and risk of water pipelines to help utilities better assess pipe replacement decisions and allocate funding. PIPEiD (Pipeline Infrastructure Database) will assist water sector utilities to manage water pipeline infrastructure systems more effectively for performance, resiliency, and sustainability. PIPEiD will provide the secure, robust, and centralized web-based database platform to address all three major infrastructure asset management levels: strategic, tactical, and operational for utilities of all sizes (small, medium, and large) across the country. The research team collected field performance data for potable, raw, and reuse water pipelines made from materials reflecting the wide range of pipes currently in the ground throughout the US, including cast and ductile iron, prestressed concrete cylinder pipe, reinforced concrete, steel, thermoplastic, PVC, and asbestos. The researchers worked to collect data distributed across different ecological areas, or cohorts, organized based on the climatic conditions of the 500 water utilities' locations. In mobile ground-to-air (GA) propagation channels, the birth and death of multipath components (MPCs) are frequently observed, and the wide-sense stationary uncorrelated scattering (WSSUS) assumption does not always hold. Several methods exist for tracking the birth and death of MPCs, however, to the best of knowledge of authors, there is no existing literature that addresses the prediction of the lifespan of the MPCs in non-WSSUS GA propagation channels. In this work, we consider the GA channel as non-WSSUS and individual MPCs across receiver positions are represented as time series based on the Euclidean distance between channel parameters of the MPCs. These time series representations, referred to as path bins, are analyzed using a semi-Markov chain model. The channel parameter variations and dependencies between path bins are used to predict the lifespan of path bins using weighted sum method, machine learning classifiers, and deep neural networks. For comparison, the birth and death of path bins are also modeled using a Poisson distribution and a Markov chain. Simulation results demonstrate that deep neural networks offer highly accurate predictions for the lifespan (including death) of MPC path bins in the considered GA propagation scenario.

Memory latency and off-chip bandwidth have been struggling to keep up with computing performance in modern computer systems. In this regard, prefetching helps in masking the long memory access latency at various cache levels by continuously monitoring an application’s memory access pattern. Upon detecting a pattern, it prefetches cache block ahead of its use. However, complex patterns such as directed or indirected pointer access, linked lists, and so on does not adhere to any specific pattern and hence, makes prefetching impossible. The paper proposes Grep, an adaptive graph based data prefetcher that monitors L1D cache misses and prefetches block in L2 cache. Unlike state-of-the-art prefetchers, Grep does not search for patterns in the miss stream. Rather, it generates a predecessor-successor relationship among the cache misses by constructing an occurrence graph that stores the frequency and sequence of subsequent cache block accesses. Therefore, both regular and irregular patterns in the miss stream can be predicted. Upon an address match in the occurrence graph, Grep prefetches block with a confidence value. Experimentally, it improves prefetch coverage and accuracy by 35.5% and 18.8%, respectively, compared to SPP.

Reliable lane-following is essential for automated and assisted driving, yet existing solutions often rely on models that require extensive computational resources, limiting their deployment in compute-constrained vehicles. We evaluate five low-resource lane-following algorithms designed for real-time operation on vehicles with limited computing resources. Performance was assessed through simulation and deployment on real drive-by-wire electric vehicles, with evaluation metrics including reliability, comfort, speed, and adaptability. The top-performing methods used unsupervised learning to detect and separate lane lines with processing time under 10 ms per frame, outperforming compute-intensive and poor generalizing deep learning approaches. These approaches demonstrated robustness across lighting conditions, road textures, and lane geometries. The findings highlight the potential for efficient lane detection approaches to enhance the accessibility and reliability of autonomous vehicle technologies. Reducing computing requirements enables lane keeping to be widely deployed in vehicles as part of lower-level automation, including active safety systems. © 2024, CC BY.

To manage the high load fluctuations arising from renewable energy integration, the Ministry of Power Govt. of India has launched real-time trading in the energy market. In this paper, we discuss the real-time market process, regulatory authorities, system balancing, prerequisites of RTM of India, and one of the prominent real-time energy markets in the world. The market process is based on bidding, and Indian market has a zone wised bidding system. In India, the energy is traded in two market platforms named Energy Exchange of India and Power Exchange of India Ltd. The energy market operations are unavoidably connected with the load dispatch centers as the market has to be cleared by considering the transmission corridor availability within the system. The power exchanges of India and the load dispatch centers are monitored and guided by the central electricity regulatory authority and Power Grid which is formerly known as the Power system operation corporation. The real-time power trading is done for 30 minutes, and the auction is open for 15 minutes, followed by market clearing after gate closure. In addition to the real-time market, this paper gives a brief overview of the green energy market window in Indian energy exchanges. © 2023 IEEE.

Numerous technologies are constantly being created due to the rapid rise in the standardization and automation of operational and management systems. It simplifies procedures and allows microelectronics technology to advance more often. It was managed by an Android app and controlled by sensor networks and parking systems. The wireless sensor network manages parking spot management, parking lot reservations, vehicle navigation, and other complex circumstances. This study suggests a wireless sensor network-based and android app-based intelligent parking system. Sensors installed beneath enable the cutting-edge parking system to function. The research suggests an intelligent parking system that uses wireless sensor networks and IR, magnetic, and light sensors. The ground-level sensors used by the advanced parking system function. The base station receives the node/slot information, and the base station delivers data to FTP. At the user's request, FTP transmits details about nodes and spaces to mobile devices. The idea came from using an IoT application to control the automobile parking system, which is crucial to our daily lives. For this purpose, a mobile application for Android called Smart Parker was developed. It provides information about a parking lot, such as available or reserved spaces. Sensors at the base station will send information about parking spaces to the FTP server. The user of the innovative payment system is required to pay to park the car. Cash is first collected using cash counters, but maintaining them is challenging. Later, different methods are employed to collect the payment. The payment is made by an Automated Vehicle Identification (AVI) tag using RFID technologies. Smart, debit, and credit cards are contact methods, whereas RFID technology and mobile devices are contactless alternatives. The smart parking system on FPGA (Finite State Machine Modeling) works on two main modules, i.e., the identification module and slot checking module. The

In this paper, we propose a novel method for masked comparison using register rotation technique without masking conversions. In key encapsulation mechanisms (KEMs), ciphertext comparison is essential to ensure the security, but it is one of the most computationally expensive operations in masking environment. Previous works on masked ciphertext comparison have mainly focused on masking conversion and its post-processing. However, the proposed method introduces another register-based approach, which eliminates the need for time-consuming masking conversion and solely relies on register rotation using Chinese remainder theorem (CRT).

A first-hand, low-profile, two-port planar inverted-F antenna is proposed for current 4G/5G sub-3 GHz hand-portable multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) applications. The design features a profile of about 5 mm and dual-coplanar feeds, which are isolated using only a modified top plate, while the shared ground plane is not perturbed as in previous designs. An open-edge slot on the top of the PIFA provides a 3λ/4 current path. The proposed antenna covers approximately a 15% impedance bandwidth fraction in the range of 2.45-2.85 GHz. The simulated results, including scattering parameters, far-field radiation patterns, and the envelope correlation coefficient, all exhibit excellent features. © 2024 IEEE.
