Stroke and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis manifest symptoms that affect facial motion in patients. Tracking these movements and assessing the severity of the impairment can be achieved with facial alignment technology and classification algorithms. Using the Toronto NeuroFace Dataset consisting of patients and healthy individuals performing clinical examination tasks, this study focuses on score estimation of clinical examinations to determine oro-facial dysfunction severity. Facial landmarks extracted using the 2D FAN were used to determine features under range of motion, speed of motion, and symmetry. Speech language pathologist scores from the dataset were transformed using ordinal encoding, then oversampled using random oversampling. The features and transformed scores were fed into random forest classifier models to predict a score using a scale of 1 to 4 for each feature category. The results show that the proposed method is able to estimate oro-facial dysfunction severity and classify between healthy individuals and patients. The average performance of the model setups are comparable to that of the baseline in terms of accuracy ( © 2023 ACM.

Class imbalance, which negatively affects classification model performance, is a common problem with machine learning. Various oversampling methods have been developed as potential solutions to compensate for imbalanced data. SMOTE is one of the more common methods employed. However, deep generative models such as the variational autoencoder are showing promise as alternatives to traditional oversampling methods. This study investigated the potential of variational autoencoders in learning the distribution of the minority class and producing new observations of facial motion features extracted from an imbalanced medical dataset as well as to see the effects of oversampling before and after the train-test split. The effectiveness of the variational autoencoder was compared to SMOTE in increasing ordinal classification performance across the metrics of accuracy, accuracy±1, inter-rater reliability, specificity, and sensitivity with no oversampling serving as the baseline. The results show that the variational autoencoder has potential as an oversampling method for facial motion features in the context of oro-facial dysfunction estimation. Oversampling prior to the train-test split was also shown to improve classification performance. © 2023 IEEE.

Surgical guide plates, which are used in dental implant treatments, have some limitations that cause problems for the operator and patient. This study aims to develop an augmented-reality-based surgical guide system to solve these problems and discusses its use in clinical practice. Our surgical guide system achieved a good accuracy in drilling simulations on training typodonts, demonstrating its potential in clinical practice. © 2024 IEEE.

This study explores the application of Fuzzy Tsukamoto and Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) methods to enhance scholarship admissions. Implemented using Python, the system evaluates multiple criteria including GPA, semester, parental income, parental allowance, age, and certificates by assigning appropriate weight values to each variable. The Fuzzy Tsukamoto method, known for its capability to handle uncertainty, combined with the SAW method for its straightforward additive approach, is employed to streamline the selection process and recommend suitable scholarship types for students. The findings demonstrate that integrating these methods significantly improves the accuracy and efficiency of scholarship selection, providing a robust tool for decision-making in academic funding. © 2024 IEEE.

Comparative analysis of Markovian and Semi-Markovian modelling for cloud video system availability is performed considering its architecture and dependability characteristics of various components. Initial data for modelling is based on review of research and operation data of cloud systems. The results of modelling provide decision making related to choice of technique of modelling and availability assessment. This article proposes a technique that establishes the procedure for evaluating the level of efficiency of the information security department (an employee performing information security functions). The technique uses performance evaluation criteria based on the apparatus of fuzzy logic, the composition of fuzzy relations. The technique describes the procedure for evaluating the effectiveness of the information security department (information security officer) during audits in the area of "Organization and state of work on information protection", self-assessment of the effectiveness of work. The method of assessing the level of efficiency consists in presenting with the help of a set of measurements (both at the quantitative and qualitative level) the features collected to build a classification of the effectiveness of the information security department (information security officer). Based on a set of measurements of signs, the decision-maker must determine (classify) the effectiveness of work using the criteria for assessing the quality of their work. In the future, the methodology can be expanded for additional purposes of predicting the level of security of informatization objects. © 2023 IEEE.

The difference between mean sea level and ellipsoid height is defined as geoid relief, which is essential information when building barometric altimeter/GPS combined systems or terrain matching systems. Therefore, an accurate calculation of the geoid undulation is required. In this paper, we propose a deep neural network method for calculating geoid undulations in real time in an embedded system. Then, using the EGM08 geoid model of order 2160, training data at intervals of 0.001 degrees were generated, and the prediction model accuracy was evaluated for 4 cases according to the number of hidden layers. As the number of hidden layers increased, the prediction accuracy increased, and it was confirmed that the calculation time also increased proportionally. © 2022 Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers. The main objective of this paper is to propose a consensus mechanism, based on trust, for permissioned private blockchain networks. The proposal shows how the use of the cooperativeness of the network nodes is fundamental for the development of a control system, in which the behavior of the nodes is monitored by other nodes. The monitoring of the reputation score is constant in the network and through voting, the node considered malicious to the network is expelled. For the mechanism to work, it is necessary to define rigidity criteria to be applied to actions identified as malicious what are the confidence threshold adopted and what grade receives a node that has not yet been evaluated by the network. Also, determine how many nodes are needed to monitor the behavior of a Malicious Node (MN), in order to identify and expel it more efficiently. The objectives of this work are also to present the performance evaluation of two platforms for the development of permissioned private blockchains in relation to the validation time of a transaction, the response time to chain searches and the transaction mining time and to propose a use case of blockchain technology for application in the storage of electronic medical records in a hybrid approach, which combines the application of public key infrastructure with blockchain technology, to comply with the storage requirements of medical data and offer patient-centric data privacy and access control. © 2024. The rapid advancement of autonomous vehicles (AVs) promises to enhance transportation efficiency, reliability, and safety. However, these systems, particularly multi-channel vehicular communications, are vulnerable to cyber attacks that threaten authenticity, authorization, confidentiality, integrity, availability, and non-repudiation. The 2014 Chrysler Jeep hack highlights the urgent need for robust security measures in vehic-ular communications. This study utilizes the STRIDE, DREAD, and MITRE ATT&CK security frameworks to develop a comprehensive threat model that identifies and assesses critical threats and risks to AV communications. By detailing specific attack vectors and their multidimensional impacts and criticality, the study establishes a baseline of threats for communication security in vehicular networks. It produces visual threat maps, impact graphs of various attacks, and a color-coded threat grid to guide stakeholders in developing effective cyber security measures for protecting AV communications, thereby help stakeholders to improve the reliability and safety of AV navigation for fostering growth in the AV industry. © 2024 IEEE.
