A Bayesian formulation of system identification problems has become popular recently; this is mainly due to the introduction of a family of prior descriptions (kernels) which encode structural properties of dynamical systems such as stability. The simplest instance of this kernel prescribes that the impulse response coefficients are independent random variables with exponentially decaying variance. Selecting the most suitable kernel within this class, which involves tuning the rate at which variance decay, is an important step. This paper studies the properties of the so-called “marginal likelihood” approach providing an interpretation in terms of Mean Squared Error properties of the resulting estimators.

Forecasting the future time series values from the past values plays important role in daily life. There are some techniques support for time series analysis such as statistics, Neural Network (NN), Fuzzy Logic (FL) and fusion NN and FL. However, there is lack of easy, free and visual tools for users to analysis time series data. In this paper we try to use Java program language to implement of Fuzzy Logic system using table lookup scheme to predict time series data. The results of our experiments show that our tool can give a high accuracy of prediction results. Since program is written in Java language so it can run across hardware and software platform and easily embed into website for user run through Internet.

Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT), proposed by N. E. Huang in 1998, is a novel algorithm for nonlinear and non-stationary signal processing. The key part of this method is decomposition the signal into finite number of Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMF) which will meet the requirements of Hilbert Transform. In this part, the algorithm uses natural cubic spline to connect all local maxima and local minima to produce upper and lower envelope of the signal. However natural cubic spline which may lead overshoot and undershoot at intermediate point. In this paper we propose to apply constrained cubic spline into first part of the HHT to eliminate overshoot in upper and lower envelope. We also propose an improvement on Improved Slope Base Method (ISBM) to limit swing at the end points. The experiments showed that our proposals get better result than original proposal and speed up Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) process.

This paper proposes a new robust control strategy to prevent the current ripple propagation into the dc-dc converter input, thus avoiding converter malfunctions. Concretely, we apply the new strategy to a buck-boost converter. The strategy is based on LMI control and use readily, fast convex optimization algorithms to obtain the solution. The control objective is maximizing the current disturbance rejection, where current ripple propagation and usual, prescribed dynamic performances are ensured. The paper describes the control design procedure, besides an illustrative example and simulation verifications. Simulation waveforms are in perfect agreement with objective function and performances constraints of the control design. That is, the current ripple propagation is almost zero and other prescribed constraints are satisfied.

This paper presents a novel method for monocular vision based pathway estimation. In this context, the pathway means a trajectory which an autonomous vehicle should follow to avoid departure from the road. The proposed method is based on our previous work on road region segmentation, and exploits the road region extracted from monocular sequential images to estimate parameters of the pathway model. Since the proposed method doesn't require road surface marking, it is suitable for unstructured roads, while it still works for structured roads too. The proposed method is tested on real image sequences and compared with edge based techniques.
