This paper presents the development of an active vibration control (AVC) mechanism for a flexible plate structure using a Genetic Algorithm (GAs) strategy. The global optimisation technique of GAs is utilised to obtain a dynamic model of a flexible plate structure and verified within the AVC system. The GA based AVC algorithm thus developed is implemented within a flexible plate simulation environment and its performance in the reduction of vibration of the plate is assessed. The validation of the algorithm is presented in both the time and frequency domains. An assessment of the results thus obtained is given in comparison to the AVC system using conventional recursive least squares (RLS) method. Investigations reveal that the developed GA based AVC system performs better in the suppression of vibration of a flexible plate structure compared to an RLS based AVC system.

The current Grover quantum searching algorithm cannot identify the difference in importance of the search targets when it is applied to an unsorted quantum database, and the probability for each search target is equal. To solve this problem, a Grover searching algorithm based on weighted targets is proposed. First, each target is endowed a weight coefficient according to its importance. Applying these different weight coefficients, the targets are represented as quantum superposition states. Second, the novel Grover searching algorithm based on the quantum superposition of the weighted targets is constructed. Using this algorithm, the probability of getting each target can be approximated to the corresponding weight coefficient, which shows the flexibility of this ***, the validity of the algorithm is proved by a simple searching example.

Considering the stochastic delay problems existing in networked control systems, a new control mode is proposed for networked control systems whose delay is longer than a sampling period. Under the control mode, the mathematical model of such a system is established. A stochastic stabilization condition for the system is given. The maximum delay can be derived from the stabilization condition.

Industrial process control IP networks support communications between process control applications and devices. Communication faults in any stage of these control networks can cause delays or even shutdown of the entire manufacturing process. The current process of detecting and diagnosing communication faults is mostly manual and limited to post-reaction of user complaints which are followed by noticeable process malfunctioning. This paper identifies control network specific failures and their symptoms for early detection

The aim of this paper is to obtain a model for an in-scale fast-ferry model TF-120 including the dynamics and kinematics, using a remote experimentation platform for marine vehicles. The physical model is autonomous and is controlled remotely from a PC using Wi-Fi communications. The identification and validation of the dynamical model is obtained with turning circle maneuverings. In this model are included the kinematical equations. The tests with the autonomous in-scale physical model of the high-speed ship were carried out in the surroundings of the Bay of Santander. With this model. simulations with several turbojets angles are made.

This paper shows that one of soft actuators, Ionic Polymer-Metal Composite (IPMC) can be modeled in terms of distributed port-Hamiltonian systems with multi-scale. The physical structure of IPMC consists of three parts. The first part is an electric double layer at the interface between the polymer and the metal electrodes. The frequency response of the polymer-metal interface shows a fractal degree of gain slope. Then we adopt a black-box circuit model to this part and give considerations for distributed impedance parameters. The second part is an electrostress diffusion coupling model with bending and relaxation dynamics. This part is represented by an electro-osmosis, which is a water transport by an electric field, and a streaming potential, which is an electric field created by a water transport. We discuss the relationship of stress and bending moment induced by swelling. The third part is a mechanical system modeled as a flexible beam with large deformations. The representation has the capability extracting the control structure based on passivity from distributed parameter systems possessing a complex behavior.
control systems design has traditionally been treated separately from the design of its software and hardware implementation. The increasing use of embedded control in for example distributed, safety critical and mass...
