The orthogonal collocation approach is now well known to solve, effectively, the state constrained optimal control problems. Mathematical programming technique was also used as an effective tool to construct the optimal trajectories. In this paper, a study is done on the efficiency and accuracy requirements of the combined orthogonal collocation and mathematical programming approach, as regarding the employed optimization algorithm, and the number of orthogonal collocation points. It is shown, by experimentation with numerical examples that Fletcher-Powell optimization algorithm is much more faster to produce convergence than Fletcher-Reeves algorithm. The efficiency can be a ratio of six-to-one. The results are compared with an alternative approach to solve the same problem. It is shown that the present algorithm is less costly than the alternative approach, although requiring more computation time. The choice is then a compromise one. As the number of orthogonal points increases, the resulting solutions are more accurate, but the convergence speed decreases. Experimentation with N, shows a save of five-to-one in computing time can be achieved with almost the same cost function. Finally, it is shown, by a numerical example, that uniformly distributed collocation points result in non-optimal solutions, which also violate the problem constraints. It is a numerical proof of the superiority of the orthogonal collocation approach.

Disturbance attenuation is often recognized as the primary concern of a control system. Regulation of the operating conditions is the usual task work to be pursued by a feedback controller. However, much of the academic works almost concentrate on set-point experiments for controller evaluation. Even those that explicitly concentrate on the disturbance attenuation problem, usually concentrate on input load disturbances. They exclude the specific, but usually not considered in the literature, case when the path from the disturbance to the controlled variable is different to the path from the controller output to the controlled variable. There are some process units such as heat exchangers or distillation columns where this situation may be encountered. However actual feedback controllers, usually of PI/PID type, do not take into account this situation. The point raised in this paper is that an increment of performance can be obtained if the information regarding the disturbance dynamics is included in the PI/PID design stage.

This paper presents client-server mobile system for diagnosis of asynchronous motors. The system is created as a mobile application for smartphones and tablets. The system provides processing of the measured values of the currents and voltages of the stator phases of the asynchronous motor. According to the processing results, the results of diagnostics and forecasting of the current state of asynchronous motors are calculated. The software runs on the Android OS. The main purpose is to predict the current state of AD, which has a parametric electromagnetic asymmetry of the stator phases.

This paper considers the abstract features of human/machine interaction systems that are required for the production of intelligent behaviour. A conceptual architecture is proposed for a subset of intelligent systems called human-centred intelligent systems (HCISs) and it is argued that such systems must be autonomous, robust and adaptive in order to be intelligent. Soft computing is proposed as a promising new technique that can be used to build HCISs, and examples are presented where this is already being done. Finally, flexibility is defined to be a combination of the often-conflicting requirements of robustness and adaptability, and it is argued that the right balance between these two features is necessary to achieve intelligent behaviour.

This paper studies one particular aspect of providing communication security: firewall technology. This article provides a security framework in the form of packet filtering model within the firewall technology system and its components can be designed and evaluated. This paper introduces a reference model based on packet filtering firewall technology. All components are governed by a centralized security policy and they can be deployed in a distributed fashion to achieve scaling. This packet filtering firewall design is proven technology that provides confidentiality, integrity and availability in own information and network resources. The required design implement to set-up packet filtering firewall for network to protect and unauthorized access to our network. We describe the filtering process design depends on its underlying network technologies. The resulting security mechanism can be used as a bastion-host in the construction of firewall system.

A MATLAB-based rapid controller prototyping and development system for on-line tuning is presented. This is capable of automatically generating executable code for a digital signal processor from a Simulink specification of a controller and also has a real-time parameter adjustment and data logging facility. An optimisation problem can therefore be formulated in MATLAB with the controller parameters as decision variables and direct measures of the controller's performance as optimisation objectives. A multiobjective genetic algorithm is used as an optimisation engine to perform on-line tuning for the controller of an active magnetic bearing system. The optimisation objective function is based on on-line H ∞ and H 2 , measures of controller performance.

A prototype large electrical machine running on active magnetic bearings is described. This rig is controlled by a digital signal processor connected by a custom interface to MATLAB/Simulink hosted by a PC. The on-line tuning of a PID controller is set up as an optimisation problem from MATLAB and a multiobjective genetic algorithm is used to drive the optimisation. The existing U.S. Paradigm of individual departmental laboratories is increasingly difficult to justify due to the interdisciplinary nature of modern controlengineering, the high cost and rapid obsolescence of technology, and the demands on faculty time. The College of engineeringcontrol Systems Laboratory (COECSL) at the University of Illinois advocates a shift from departmental labs to college labs for pedagogical, as well as financial, reasons.
