A smart home allows automated technology to control systems and appliances to assist daily life activities. In the current work, a prototype of a designed smart home health-aware system is presented. Three predefined ruled agents have been used to gather data, communicate between themselves, interpret the data based on several machine learning algorithms to predict abnormality for cardiac conditions. The paper also compares results obtained by running five machine learning algorithms. The agents function in accordance with predefined dataset describing residents ’ age, gender, height, weight, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels, smoking and alcohol consumption habits, and lastly, physical activity. Our plan is to simplify ubiquitous health monitoring for smart home’s residents. The proposed solution aims to monitor parametric measurements to alert health specialists in case of emergencies.

The rising data volumes force significant bottlenecks on the 6G for IoT (6G-IoT) network management functions, which limits the control, flexibility, and interoperability among devices, protocols, and end applications. Solutions like software-defined networking (SDN), and network function virtualization (NFV) are proposed with 6G, but the core management operations are still manual. Thus, to automatically upscale these 6G-IoT networks at reduced cost orchestration complexity, zero-touch networks (ZTN) are proposed. ZTN in 6G-IoT allows a high degree of automation and seamless integration of services. The article proposes a scheme, Zero-Load, that integrates ZTN at the core routing functionality of the 6G-IoT applications. We present a load balancing and traffic classification scheme through the ZTN networking stack for core routers. The ZTN router configuration fabric connects applications with the core services. Further, we present a Gaussian kernel-based support vector machine (SVM) classifier at the ZTN automation layer, which classifies the normal traffic and attack traffic. The proposed work is compared for parameters like mean time to response (MTTR), and resolution latency against baseline SDN and NFV schemes. Using ZTN, an average improvement of 32.45% is obtained in MTTR, and 87.89% in resolution latency (against a query). Using the Gaussian RBF kernel, an accuracy of 0.9914 is reported. These results indicate that ZTN-based management paves the way toward a more dense and intelligent 6G-IoT network.

Blockchain (BC)-driven applications ensure trust and transparency among multiple stakeholders through different consensus mechanisms. In consensus mechanisms, a dishonest node (or application), might collude with peer nodes, or miners, to prioritize its transactions over other node transactions, thereby reducing its latency and improving its quality-of-service (QoS). To address the above limitation, this paper proposes a consensus scheme, PoRF, based on a reputation-based consensus scheme that allows fair and random transaction selection. The scheme proposes that a sharded BC is considered, managed through shard managers (SM), to address latency and bandwidth issues. A reputation coefficient score is generated, and a reward-penalty setup is considered for nodes based on honest, or dishonest transaction proposals. Based on the reward-penalty outcome, the reputation score for nodes is modified. The scheme is compared with fixed transaction ordering scheme, Helix scheme, and practical byzantine fault tolerance (PBFT) consensus for transaction fairness, transaction time, and epochs required for consensus formations. The scheme outperforms the considered schemes for the considered parameters. For example, for 50% dishonest nodes, an improvement of 70 % is recorded against a fixed transaction scheme, and at 4000 nodes, the proposed scheme takes 130 milliseconds (ms) less for the execution of transactions. For consensus formation, at 250 nodes, PBFT takes 167 epochs for consensus, compared to 24 epochs in the proposed scheme, which indicates the scheme's viability in real-world setups. © 2021 IEEE.

There is a significant increase of cloud and networking-enabled applications, leading to an exponential growth of network traffic. Monitoring all these applications and their generated traffic is a challenging and complex task, especially in regard to anonymous networks used to access the Dark Web or darknet. Manual investigation of the network traffic to determine patterns of malicious activity is a very difficult task and the results might not be satisfactory. The usage of machine learning is the most viable approach for the classification of the traffic as normal or malign activity. This paper analyzes CIC-Darknet 2020 dataset to classify the benign and darknet traffic. Before applying any classifiers to our dataset, we have balanced it using Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE). We have applied PCA to reduce dimensionality, furthermore, ensemble techniques, logistic classifiers, tree-classifiers, and Naive Bayes have been compared and evaluated thoroughly with various evaluation metrics Accuracy, Precision, Recall, F1-Score, and Mathew's Correlation Coefficient (MCC). © 2021 IEEE.

The paper is devoted to study of the influence of rolling modes on the performance of powerful interconnected electric drives of a hot rolling mill under the action of an electromagnetic coupling circuit between the electric drives of the roughing and finishing groups. The action of the electromagnetic coupling circuit manifests itself in the form of the influence of impact loads of synchronous electric drives on the angular velocity of direct current electric drives of the finishing group of the mill. The parameters of the electromagnetic coupling circuit are determined by the power supply scheme and equipment parameters. Values of impact loads applied to a synchronous motor depend on the rolling process parameters, in particular, the chemical composition of the rolled steel and the temperature of the ingot. The paper presents the results of calculating the rolling power for various rolling mode parameters. Using mathematical modeling in Simulink, numerical estimates of the influence of rolling modes on the magnitude of the voltage drop in the power supply unit and the drop in the angular velocity of the electric drive of the finishing group were obtained on the example of a wide-strip hot rolling mill 1700 of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel computer vision-based approach for assessing leg length discrepancy (LLD) in individuals with prosthetic limbs. The proposed solution uses image processing techniques to detect markers placed on the patient's knee, prosthesis, and a reference wall, allowing for precise measurement of limb alignment. Through a comparative analysis of the initial reference position, set by a specialist, and the current limb positioning, the algorithm identifies discrepancies in leg length. The system employs a non-invasive methodology, utilizing an IP camera to capture images and communicate them via Wi-Fi to a computing unit for further analysis. Experimental validation, conducted on simulated LLDs ranging from 1mm to 10mm, demonstrates the system's high sensitivity and accuracy in detecting subtle changes in limb alignment. This approach offers a scalable, automated alternative to traditional manual methods, improving both the reliability and ease of prosthetic adjustments.

This paper presents a study for optimizing a hot rolling mill. The paper is devoted to the study of ways to reduce the effect of shock loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing mill group on the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling stands of the finishing mill group. The elasticity of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling mill has a significant impact on the movement of intercoupled multi-motor electric drives of the finishing mill group. Another crucial route of exposure that influences the motion of the electric drives within the finishing mill group involves the electromagnetic connection between the drives in the roughing and finishing mill groups. The impact of the electromagnetically connected circuits is evident through the effect of shock loads from synchronous electric drives on the angular velocity of the direct current electric drives within the finishing mill group. The characteristics of the electromagnetic communication circuit are established by the power grid arrangement and equipment specifications. To assess the quality of work of electric drives of the finishing mill group, it is proposed to use the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap, which is an important indirect indicator of the quality of rolling. The mathematical model of a hot rolling mill that takes into account both the elasticity of the metal strip that connects the DC electric drives of the finishing group, and the electromagnetic coupling circuit that takes into account the impact loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing group on the example of the mill 1700 of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC was proposed in this paper. With neural networks being used to control safety-critical systems, they increasingly have to be both accurate (in the sense of matching inputs to outputs) and robust. However, these two properties are often at odds with each other and a trade-off has to be navigated. To address this issue, this paper proposes a method to generate an approximation of a neural network which is certifiably more robust. Crucially, the method is fully convex and posed as a semi-definite programme. An application to robustifying model predictive control is used to demonstrate the results. This work presents a design and implementation of an enhanced healthcare monitoring system based on the web application framework and the cloud platform using four vital signs such as blood pressure, SPO2, body temperature, and electrocardiogram ECG. Innovative ECG modules were utilized for automatic diagnose like ECG filtering module and the DCNN-based ECG classification module. The solution provides various functionalities and privileges for the users in order to facilitate the work of doctors or emergency staff to monitor patients in order to provide medical support in a timely manner. Also, it supports patients by providing them with medical assistance through the remote interaction with medical professionals taking into consideration the security and privacy of sensitive medical data. © 2020, Politechnica University of Bucharest.
