Learning to generate motions of thin structures such as plant leaves in dynamic view synthesis is challenging. This is because thin structures usually undergo small but fast, non-rigid motions as they interact with air and wind. When given a set of RGB images or videos of a scene with moving thin structures as input, existing methods that map the scene to its corresponding canonical space for rendering novel views fail as the object movements are too subtle compared to the background. Disentangling the objects with thin parts from the background scene is also challenging when the parts show fast and rapid motions. To address these issues, we propose a Neural Radiance Field (NeRF)-based framework that accurately reconstructs thin structures such as leaves and captures their subtle, fast motions. The framework learns the geometry of a scene by mapping the dynamic images to a canonical scene in which the scene remains static. We propose a ray masking network to further decompose the canonical scene into foreground and background, thus enabling the network to focus more on foreground movements. We conducted experiments using a dataset containing thin structures such as leaves and petals, which include image sequences collected by us and one public image sequence. This study addresses the effect of climate conditions on treatment effectiveness and energy consumption in a conventional Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). It has been observed that winter temperatures below 12°C produce a deterioration of pollutants elimination and energy efficiency in the activated sludge process (ASP). Then, in this work, variations of climatological conditions are considered, and ASP control parameters are modified, to evaluate their effect into the eco-efficiency of the WWTP operation. The eco-efficiency of the operation is analyzed from a plant-wide perspective considering the effects on different units of the plant. The Benchmark Simulation Model 2 (BSM2), that represents a typical WWTP, is selected for simulations. Introduction of seasonal temperature effects on ASP control strategy are contemplated for future work. © 2023 IEEE.

Climate is rapidly changing around the world. Over time, there have been significant changes in the weather. Rainfall is now erratic due to climate change. The frequency of extreme weather events like droughts and floods has increased due to climate change, necessitating the need for more precise and timely rainfall forecasts. For strategic reasons including agriculture, water resource management, and architectural design, rain forecasting is crucial. The naturally occurring non-stationary component in the rainfall time series impairs model performance for practical hydrologists and drought risk assessors. We present a rain predicting model based on machine learning to address the forecasting issue. In our work, we predict the possibility of rain the next day on the basis of last 10 years' data. The variables that were calculated during the experiments were humidity, pressure, evaporation, sunshine, rainfall, and so on. Random Forest gave the 90% accuracy with 0.904 Area under Curve, highest out of all the algorithms. The model's performance will significantly aid in the rain forecast. © 2023 IEEE.

Device identification is a crucial aspect of securing networks, particularly in the context of the Internet of Things (IoT), where a vast variety of devices are interconnected. Recently, there has been significant research on developing techniques for identifying IoT devices based on their unique characteristics, called as device fingerprints. These techniques use machine learning algorithms, which can effectively learn and classify devices based on their features. However, device identification remains a challenging task due to the diversity of IoT devices and the constant evolution of their characteristics. This paper presents our attempt at device identification by analyzing distinct device characteristics observed during network communication and using different machine learning techniques. © 2023 IEEE.

Principal Components Analysis (PCA) is a popular dimensionality reduction and feature selection technique. It works by swiping non-informative features while retaining those that are still potentially useful. However, regardless of its wide applications in statistical analysis, the influence of PCA on the performance of classification algorithms has been rarely studied, particularly in the domain of medical image classification. In this paper, we present a thorough analysis of the influence of applying PCA on the classification of medical images. The dataset used in this study consists of thousands of images that represent four types of blood cells. These images are used to train three machine-learning classifier models after transforming images into numerical vectors using a CNN pre-trained embedding algorithm, where each image is encoded using one thousand numerical vectors. The study involves building three classification models using (1) K-nearest Neighbor (KNN), (2) Logistic Regression (LR), and (3) Random Forests (RF). Each model was built twice, once after the application of PCA to reduce the dimensionality of the embedded features and once with the original embedded features. The performance of each model is evaluated using Classification accuracy, F1, AUC, Recall, precision, and specificity metrics. The recorded performance is then compared to drawing a decisive conclusion. © 2024 IEEE.

With the development of science and technology through social networks, the process of diffusion has become a controversial subject. In social networks, the process of diffusion is transmitted from one individual to another. The influence maximization problem, in which at least k nodes are chosen as the initial nodes of the spreader in the smallest amount of time, is one of the most critical aspects of the diffusion process. Furthermore, the initial nodes in the social network should generate the most influence on the other nodes in the network. However, in the algorithms proposed to solve the problem of influence maximization, the real-world factors which affect the influence probability in diffusion models are ignored for example, the influence probability is determined randomly. This problem causes influence maximization algorithms based on diffusion models to face the challenge of time-consuming Monte Carlo simulation. So, the RIM algorithm presented in this article which this method selects the initial nodes of the spreader according on their local reachability. In addition, Due to privacy in social networks, complete information about people such as gender, education, etc. is not available. For this reason, in the RIM algorithm, using the graph structure in social networks, the influence probability is calculated in the new DBT diffusion model. In addition, the RIM algorithm exhibits stable performance in the selection of the spreader's initial nodes in terms of influence spread, and execution time. © 2023 IEEE.

Haptic feedback in telepresence applications is vital for remote task performance and object manipulation. To maximize telepresence capabilities, haptic systems need to be integrated with immersive telepresence interfaces such as virtual reality, which offer benefits such as improved spatial awareness and operator mobility. Compatibility with the mobility of these systems and their built-in optical hand tracking require low-profile wearable interfaces. Further, for full functional benefits, haptic systems must be able to elicit spatially congruent sensation without impeding operator movement and physical object interactions. In this paper, we describe the design of a lightweight, compact, and adaptable surface electrical nerve stimulation-based haptic interface. We demonstrate its capacity to consistently generate spatially congruent sensation on the all five fingertips without occlusion, as well as its compatibility with headset-based optical hand tracking. © 2024 IEEE.

Early detection of lung cancer, liver cancer (HCC), and pancreatitis is crucial for effective treatment. This study assessed the use of laser guidance CT scans for diagnosis and staging. 26 patients of CT scan which were collected from BVH and civil hospital Bahawalpur, Pakistan. Visible light with a 405 nm wavelength is used. Results showed staging of lung cancer (2 at stage 1, 2 at stage 2, 3 at stage 4) and HCC (stages 1 to 4a). Pancreatic diseases detected included acute pancreatitis (44%), chronic pancreatitis (22%), gallstones (22%), and pancreatic tumors (11%). Alkaline phosphatase, SGOT, and blood urea levels were notably elevated in all three cancers compared to controls. CT scans show promise in identifying cancer stages and diagnosing pancreatitis, aiding in tailored treatment. Statistical analysis shows that alkaline phosphatase emerges as a potential biomarker for these conditions. ©2025 Old City Publishing, Inc.

Reversible data hiding (RDH) is one special type of data hiding, and is widely used for many intended applications. Moreover, to protect the cover image, RDH in encrypted image (RDHEI) is accordingly proposed. With the reversibility and hiding data in encrypted image, RDHEI has potential utility in fields such as military and medical image transmission, and forensic analysis. Recently, Panchikkil et al. propose a RDHEI by using pixel swapping (RDHE-PSW) to swap some pixels in a block. The pixel swapping does not change pixel values, and thus Panchikkil et al.’s RDHEI-PSW can retain entropy and histogram. The smoothness of a block is calculated to extract the hidden bits and meantime recover the cover image. Panchikkil et al.’s RDHEI-PSW only hides two secret bits in every block. Recently, Kim et al. use pixel shifting (PSH), a circular right shift on a block, instead of pixel swapping to propose a RDHEI-PSH. In this paper, we still adopt PSH approach but use it in a different way (a modified PSH) to propose an enhanced RDHEI-PSH with a higher embedding capacity than Kim et al.’s RDHEI-PSH. Our enhanced RDHEI-PSH double the patterns on a block, on which we can embed more secret bits. Experimental results demonstrate that our enhanced RDHEI-PSH surpasses Panchikkil et al.’s RDHEI-PSW and Kim et al.’s RDHEI-PSH. © 2025 SPIE.

The Aedes mosquito, found in tropical areas, transmits, and causes dengue fever. The spread of the dengue fever virus from an infected Aedes mosquito bite typically takes between three and fifteen days to manifest itself clinically as dengue fever symptoms. Early and automated detection of this illness will reduce the occurrence of outbreaks and facilitate the digitization of the system. Our primary objective is to identify regions at high risk for dengue fever using limited image data through the utilization of sophisticated machine learning and image processing methods. This work showcases the application of transfer learning algorithms for the timely identification of regions at risk for dengue mosquito infestation, particularly in situations where obtaining early data on dengue outbreaks is challenging. The experiments included images of 2150 dengue-positive data sets and 1440 dengue-negative data sets. We used AI and image classifiers Yolo V4 Tin, Tensor Flow, Google Colab, etc. for the training data set, and the system makes predictions with a 99.63% accuracy rate. Our system has some unique attributes;it not only detects the percentage of dengue probability but also the specific dengue-prone location on the submitted image. © 2024 IEEE.
