Most of the modern softwaresystems are being maintained and evolved through numerous versions. Thus, effective co-maintenance and co-evolution of their test suites along with their source code becomes an important and challenging issue. In this context, issues such as the types and extent of required maintenance activities on test suites, change in size/complexity, fault and cost effectiveness of multi-version functional test suites are among the most important issues. To study, analyze and get insights into co-maintenance and co-evolution of functional test suites with softwaresystems w.r.t. the above issues, we have performed a case study on a functional GUI test suite of a popular open source project (jEdit). We chose as our test tool the IBM Rational Functional Tester, one of the leading commercial functional testing tools. The case study reveals interesting practical/empirical insights into the subject, e.g., developing a functional test suite in an earlier version and maintaining it might be a cost effective approach.

This paper describes the control of an autonomous biped robot that combines the use of the torso and the ankle joints movements for its sagittal balance. The innovative characteristic of this controller is the combined use of the ankle and torso joints movements to correct the Zero Moment Point (ZMP). It is used an artificial intelligence technique, the Support Vector Regression (SVR), to control the balance of the robot. The relation between torso and ankle compensations was obtained using the traditional inverted pendulum method. The use of the ankle joint for balance control implies the real time change of the designed initial gait but presents a lower angle control variation compared to the use of the torso joint which is simpler and more precise but slower and with a lower ZMP compensation range. Combining the two control methods it is possible to achieve better results. To obtain a good stable step it is very important to have a good initial legs trajectory design. With that purpose in mind human-based trajectories were used, leading to smaller control corrections of ankle and torso joints. It were tested different combinations of torso and ankle joints corrections for the balance control on flat horizontal and inclined surfaces and the results presented. In order to evaluate and compare the performance of the balance control methods of a biped robot two performance indexes are proposed.

The InterMedia project aims at progressing towards user-centric convergence of multimedia, by putting the user at the center of services (multimedia applications), devices and interfaces for the interaction. One of the main implications of the user-centric approach is the seamless and secure access to content, regardless of the users' location and terminal device(s), which requires suitable solutions to manage mobility, context-awareness and digital rights.
