Electronic Support Measures consist of passive receivers which can identify emitters which, in turn, can be related to platforms that belong to 3 classes: Friend, Neutral, or Hostile. Decision makers prefer results presented in STANAG 1241 allegiance form, which adds 2 new classes: Assumed Friend, and Suspect. Dezert-Smarandache (DSm) theory is particularly suited to this problem, since it allows for intersections between the original 3 classes. However, as we know, the DSm hybrid combination rule is highly complex to execute and requires high amounts of resources. We have applied and studied a Matlab implementation of Tessem's k-l-x, Lowrance's Summarization and Simard's approximation techniques in the DSm theory for the fusion of ESM reports. Results are presented showing that we can improve on the time of execution while maintaining or getting better rates of good decisions in some cases.

We formalize paper fold (origami) by graph rewriting. Origami construction is abstractly described by a rewrite system (O,R), where O is the set of abstract origami's and is a binary relation on O, called fold. An abstract origami is a triplet (Π,∼), where Π is a set of faces constituting an origami, and ∼ and are binary relations on Π, each representing adjacency and superposition relations of the faces. Origami construction is modeled as a rewrite sequence of abstract origami's. We then address the problems of representation and transformation of abstract origami's and of reasoning about the construction for computational purposes. We present a hypergraph of origami and define origami fold as algebraic graph transformation. The algebraic graph theoretic formalism enables us to reason origami in two separate domains of discourse, i.e. pure combinatoric domain and geometric domain R × R, and thus helps us to further tackle challenging problems in origami research.

The detection of high impedance faults has been an important research field for many years. The insignificant increase of the line current in case of such faults makes their detection a difficult task, although at the same time a crucial one for reasons of public safety. In this work, the influence of a high impedance fault on the line's overall input impedance is examined, for frequencies within both the CENELEC A Band and the typical high speed PLC range. The tested line configurations correspond to phase to phase and phase to ground signal injections. Also, the different effects of a high impedance fault according to the exact fault location and the line termination are investigated. Finally, a comparison among the results concerning the two selected frequency bands is conducted, in order to determine the one with the most desirable performance.
