In this paper, to expand a control bandwidth of AC servo motor, a new current vector control considering an output delay of PWM Inverter is proposed. The proposed current control is a I-P control with an additional feedback gain, which is based on an extended state feedback consisted from a d-q motor model, the output delay of PWM inverter and an integrator of ACR. In addition, the proposed method is easy to implement to the existing AC servo system. The effectiveness of proposed method is validated in a computer simulation and an experiments using a 3.7 kW class motor test bench. In the condition that a cut-off frequency of ACR is close to a carrier frequency, the simulation results show that the proposed method dramatically improves the current response at the higher cut-off frequency. Moreover, the experimental results show that the proposed method dramatically improves the current response at each operating point. From the results, the proposed method is effective to the expand the bandwidth of AC servo motor. © 2024 IEEE.

This study presents an analysis to optimizing the polynomial order and the number of inflection points for estimating the Center of Inertia (CoI) frequency and its Rate of Change (RoCoF) in power systems. Leveraging simulation-based statistical analysis, the research identifies the most effective polynomial order and inflection point count, enhancing the precision of CoI frequency estimation during transient events. The methodology promises significant improvements in frequency stability assessment, crucial for integrating renewable energy sources and maintaining system robustness. The findings offer valuable insights for power system operators and researchers in advancing frequency control strategies. © 2024 IEEE.

Wood used for exteriors, if left uncoated, experiences discoloration in the initial stage, and goes on to develop small checks on its surface. As exterior exposure progresses, the surface of the wood partially deteriorates due to weathering of the earlywood and latewood at the exposed surface and increased checking caused by differential shrinkage, resulting in an uneven wood surface. In this study, the process of surface erosion and chipping of wood and the inhibitory effect of various coatings were experimentally verified by outdoor exposure. © 2023 Architectural Institute of Japan. Demand for point-to-point power transfer services is expected to increase with the integration of variable renewable energy sources and the retirement of conventional thermal power generation. Storage batteries and pumped storage hydropower plants have the advantage of being able to provide power transport services with absorption of surplus power, which is not possible with conventional thermal power. One major problem is that pumped storage hydropower plants may not recover the costs necessary to compensate for the pumping losses that occur during time-to-time power transport. This problem does not occur with power transport services that transmit power from point-to-point. This paper proposes a formulation for pumped storage hydropower plants and a procedure for calculating power market prices to internalize pumping losses into the power market. The annual total revenue of pumped storage hydropower plants is compared based on the conventional marginal price by point and the market price calculated by the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method partially integrates the value of time transportation of pumped storage hydropower plants into the electricity market. © Energynautics GmbH.

This paper addresses the system stability issues of voltage-controlled inverters under different operating conditions by a controller with a simple structure. It has been investigated that a single voltage loop can stabilize the system for the open-circuit state without damping the resonance peak, thanks to the phase lag brought by time delay. And the complexity can be lowered compared with the commonly used dual-loop control. By providing an extra phase lag term to the loop, stability can be enhanced with a more significant phase margin when the resonance frequency of the inverter's filter lies near the critical frequency for stability. Then, a passive output impedance up to the Nyquist frequency for system stability when connecting to various loads or sources can be obtained by introducing a simple feedforward compensator designed according to intuitive vector analysis to the loop. Finally, the proposed method is validated by Matlab/Simulink simulation. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper discusses methods for estimating the electrical parameters of payloads (transponders) of communications spacecraft using digital modulation signals. To estimate the parameters, the processing of the quadrature signal at the output of the transponder, obtained during the signal constellation measurements, as well as the determination of the amplitude of the error vector in the testing process, is used. Application of these methods allows to significantly reduce the test duration and improve the test procedure based on the identified factors affecting the amplitude of the error vector. The study of electrical parameters of payload of communication spacecraft is an important aspect of their operation. Repeaters that provide ground-to-spacecraft communications must operate reliable and efficiently. The evaluation of these parameters allows optimizing the testing process and providing more accurate results. Digital modulation signals are widely used in modern communication systems. They allow you to transmit data at high speed and minimize signal distortion. However, for the correct operation of repeaters, it is necessary to accurately estimate their electrical parameters. The application of these methods reduces the duration of tests, which is especially important in the development and testing of a spacecraft. This also reduces the cost of testing and ensures the accuracy of the results. Digital modulation signals are also more reliable than analog modulation signals, making them an ideal choice for space-based communication systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Considering the reduction measures for floor impact noise, it is widely known the increasing the thickness of floor slabs and a method of using a sound insulating material as a finishing material shown the improvement. In this study, a dynamic damper using asphalt damping material is proposed as another new floor impact noise reduction method. We report the change in characteristic vibration during damper adjustment and the floor impact noise reduction effect when installed on a floor in 2×4 structure as an example of damper installation. © 2022 Architectural Institute of Japan. Haptic feedback in telepresence applications is vital for remote task performance and object manipulation. To maximize telepresence capabilities, haptic systems need to be integrated with immersive telepresence interfaces such as virtual reality, which offer benefits such as improved spatial awareness and operator mobility. Compatibility with the mobility of these systems and their built-in optical hand tracking require low-profile wearable interfaces. Further, for full functional benefits, haptic systems must be able to elicit spatially congruent sensation without impeding operator movement and physical object interactions. In this paper, we describe the design of a lightweight, compact, and adaptable surface electrical nerve stimulation-based haptic interface. We demonstrate its capacity to consistently generate spatially congruent sensation on the all five fingertips without occlusion, as well as its compatibility with headset-based optical hand tracking. © 2024 IEEE.

Magnetic levitation planar motor can move at high speed and with high accuracy, and prevent vibration and noise because of no friction. This technology leads to the application of a transport system that requires high-speed and high-precision movement. However, the design of appropriate control algorithms is essential to achieve stability and high-speed, high-precision control of the maglev planar motor. In this research, we stabilized a maglev planar motor on the basis of system identification. Initially, we designed a whole control system for the movement of the maglev planar motor. Furthermore, we conducted system identification and verified that the maglev planar motor works with the designed control system and evaluated its motion performance. Through experiments, it was confirmed that accurate motion control was possible. This research is expected to be a basis for improving control performance soon. © 2025 IEEE.
